I just replaced my set of Ridge Grapplers last month, after 70K+ miles, and probably could have stretched them for another 5-10K but since it's winter time I didn't want to push my luck. My rig is a 2014 Power Wagon and I run 35x12.5x17, which has taken me across the country a couple of times, but I spend most of my time West of the Mississippi. Of all the tires I have owned on more trucks and Jeeps than I can remember, I'm completely sold on these Ridge Grapplers for every aspect that is important to me as an overlander, and I look forward to another 70K miles traveling the country. If anyone is on the fence about these tires, try a set and I promise you won't regret your decision, outstanding performance has been my experience while bearing the load of my 8700lbs Ram prepped out to the max with gear! I'm a believer in my Nitto Ridge Grapplers...

We loved our Ridge Grapplers while we had them. They were great on and off road, snow, rain, mud, rocks. We only changed because it was time for new tires and we wanted a more aggressive MT, so we went with Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MTs, but I would not hesitate to run Ridge Grapplers on our vehicles again in the future.

Great review, perfect amount of information shared and not too much fluff. I’ve been looking at these two exact tires as my next set for my LR3. I’ve been running General Grabber X3’s for a few years now. The only downside with them is the short life with daily driving. They are quiet, soft ride, strong on rocks, great in muddy and slick conditions. The RT01’s were winning but this has possibly swayed me to the Nitto’s. Thanks for the perfectly timed video!

Glad I could help!! I’ve heard a lot of good reviews about the grabbers. I’m pretty curious about them myself. And the RT01s were really good tires. I think on a full size truck with a load they’d be great. In an suv however, they are rough

I have 35" Ridge Grapplers on my 2019 RAM 1500 Laramie, and they are awesome tires. I have had them for 2 years now, and about 20,000 miles. They are so quiet and smooth on the road. They perform and look great. Little slick in wet weather, but here in Vegas, we get very little rain. They still look brand new too.

Really great review. Very in-depth. I’ve had the R grapplers on my Jeep for 25k miles and they weren’t my first choice but I’ve been super happy wheeling them in Az,Co, and Ut. Haven’t been in a spot yet that I felt I needed a tire with better traction which was my first concern.

I got the new Toyo Open Country R/T Trail. And I really like them. The Toyo trails are a 2 ply sidewall, but it’s extra thick. so you get the benefits of a three pie sidewall in a way without the added weight of a 3 ply sidewall. And I pull a 15,000 pound trailer and they handle great. The Toyo trails have fantastic traction in snow, mud, ice, heavy rain, and I have even gone through standing water, approximately 4 inches deep and about 20 feet long at 45 miles an hour with no hydroplaning. They handle really good and they are not much louder than a traditional all-terrain tire. The only thing I have noticed on wet pavement the tires seem to lose traction or seem to be a little loose on wet roads. And I think that has to do with my truck being a diesel with all that torque, because I had almost the same problem with altering tires that were three peak winter snow rated. Had to tell you the truth, I have had stock tires on my truck and I had Les Schwab open country all-terrain tires as my last pair, in the Les Schwab tires I absolutely hated. I put the Toyo open country R/T trails on my truck about 6,500 miles ago and I would buy them again. And when it comes to wet roads, the wet handling of the Toyo trails are very good I know without a doubt breaking traction on wet roads with the tires have to do with the air pressure being at 80 psi. When I drop the air pressure from 80 psi to 60 psi with handling improves on the rear tires. I honestly believe that the Toyo open country trails handle just as good on wet roads as an all-terrain tire does. because I drive off road quite a bit and I’m in mud dirt, etc. these tires handle way better than the all-terrain tire does off-road.

I also have the R/T Trail 315/70R17 tires on my '23 Bronco Wildtrak. They are actually an 8ply with 3ply sidewall "D" Rated and weigh 68 pounds. In my experience they pick up very few rocks when driving on the gravel roads. They have handled the wet roads and the frozen roads that we had here last week, very well. I run them at 35PSI cold on my 4-door with very light load. I actually find the ride is better with these compared to the original Goodyear tires. I don't have enough time in the mud yet unfortunately.

Just watched this Tire Review. Thank you! I was kinda surprised that you mentioned that Ridge Grappler is louder on the road compared to the stock GoodYear. I have 2021 Bronco® First Edition 4-Door. Only 22k miles so far. I was considering the Ridge Grappler after lots of research, but seems like once my original tires will require replacement I’ll go with the Toyo Open Country R/T Trail. Seems like a very competitive tire to the Ridge Grappler. The Toyo Open Country R/T Trail wights the same as the Ridge Grappler at 76 lbs which is 50% more than the stock 52 lbs GoodYear. Kinda mind blowing fact. I was hoping to get a quieter ride and similar or better MPG since it’s Hybrid tire and not M/T so the rolling resistance should be better. But based on your review I should expect similar results as with your Ridge Grappler probably due to that huge weight difference.

I ran these on a 2020 f250 in a 38x13.5 . After 35k miles i sold the truck but the tires still looked great. No noticeable wear even with the majority of the 35k miles were towing. Like any tire keep them rotated and the pressure set right. And depending on the size and vehicle you are running check for lighter load range options. Tiresize calculator and easily show and compare specs. I was going to run these tires on a new f150. However in the size i was looking at was 91lbs per tire. The nitto recon grappler in the same size i could get in the factory load range. They come in at 52 lbs per tire. This allowed me to run 35s and i can still get beter than the window sticker highway mpg. Adding weight to the rolling mass makes a huge difference in onraod performance. And this weight is way different than carrying weight inside the car. If you are like most people and drive mostly on road a some offroad this makes a huge difference in enjoying your vehicle.

They still look OK but I’m gonna be due for a new set here in the next six months. I think I’m going to do them again. Looked at the exo grapplers as well but it looks like they are actually louder which I dont prefer.

That new Falken Wildpeak R/T in 35x12.50 size is 79.4 lbs. I understand weight matters but also weight is what determines higher quality tire that is more durable as well. The wildpeak R/T is 34.8x13 which is a pretty wide 35 inch tire snd would look excellent in a 0mm offset wheel.

I bought nitto ridge grapplers for my super duty, good all around for heavy truck mud/snow/rain/gravel but when they get half tread wear they get loud as shit. We have them on the 4runner now too just because I thought they might be good on a light vehicle. But it’s the same once you get half way loud and not good in snow or wet.

Great review. I am torn between these and the BFG MT KM3. I still have about 5k-10k left on my Territories though. I don't love the Territories, so I can't wait to get rid of them. Man I’ve been debating between the new rt01s and the ridge grapps too. But I guess tires and tire recommendations are gonna be like threads on forums asking what oil to run. I was looking pretty hard at the wildpeaks but might look at ridge grapps again. My current tires, klever rt are good but the constant being out of balance is annoying me now. But they’ve been wearing great. But either way, you recommend the grappler over the rt01?

They are pretty decent tires. There are other tires out there that are better. I’ve had 3 sets of RG’s, bfg ko2’s, rt01’s, MT Baja boss at’s. The RG’s are good but on road they slip like the ko2’s on rain and snow ice conditions. Offroad they are good but get water on them and they slip on rocks…. Then get them wore down… they get loud as MT’s and they handle quite bad. Nothing is safe but dry conditions. I’d rather go back to nitto at’s or try the recon grapplers. The best overall that I’ve liked is Mickey Thompson Baja boss at’s. Oh by the way… get the ridge grapplers half tread… all these reviews are out of the question then… they suck.
