Jimmy Ibbotson is one of the most iconic voices in American music. I got to tell him that several years ago 😎

These guys are always amazing. As much as I hate to seem like I'm downplaying the other guys, Jimmy I. is my favorite. Between this, "Fishin' in the Dark", and "Let's Talk Dirty in Hawaiian" by him and the other Jimbos, Mr. Ibbotson will always be a treasure.

First saw the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in Durango, CO in late '73 or early '74 and a couple times in the 90s. One of the best groups ever.

Donna Duvall Yes, Jimmy Ibbotson is supremely talented and knows how to light up every face in the audience. His magnetic spark made the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band so much fun.

How can they still be a band without him
@charlesbolton84712 жыл бұрын
Because they were a band before he joined it. They were still a band after he left the first time. Obviously, they are still a band without him since he left the second time. For what it’s worth, the same holds true for John McEuen who also left, came back, and left again.
@jamesclemmer389711 ай бұрын
He is back with them and they are starting thier final tour in just a few weeks.

This is one of the all time great NGDB songs. It's really cool to see (and hear) Jimmy back on stage with the fellows.

That was a good rendition of Dance Little Jean. I didn’t even know Jimmy Ibbetson wrote that song about his daughter. We saw NGDB in 2012, Jeff Fadden sang it, in 2012. This was a rocking performance!!

I love the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band I have been listening to these guys for years I got to go to there 50th anniversary concert twice now there still good but they will not be as good with out Jimmy Ibbotson I really miss him being in the band he is the only member I didn't get to meet :( if I had the money to Go to Colorado my ass would be going up there and seeing him they need to put his voice in a Museum for best Country voice.

They tore down the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach, but before that I got to see Jimmy Ibbotson with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in the 1970's. He invited us to his house in Topanga Canyon, where we visited for a few hours. I think I was maybe 16 years old, but I did go with my mom and friends.

It's so sad that the falling out between Ibby and Hanna was so deep. I was surprised to see Ibby there.
@joearchuleta48298 жыл бұрын
from what I read ibby said he had problems with the "drummer" he wanted ibby to do certain things (if I remember right) within his traveling life style,so ibby split plus ibby was tired of traveling and didn't need the money.

lvsrlmsc me again, I wanted to know what they looked like now, and found this. Sam Bush, Jeff Hanna amazingly look the same, but I couldn't get Jimmy Ibbotson. I'm new to all this, I knew nothing about the situation, Jimmy Ibbotson has changed so much. Can you tell me the year, circle be unbroken 2 was, I can't find it anywhere. That I think was the best version of country roads ever, and they were all so happy and enjoying themselves.....
@jennywren78227 жыл бұрын
lvsrlmsc first I knew nothing about NGDB parting ways. I found this and was trying to figure out who was who. Jimmy Ibbotson I couldn't find, he's physically changed completely. You I think have known them all for years. it was only through John Denver that I discovered them. It's a long story, but I got there in the end, I'm around the same age, but being English, I'd never heard of them, anyway the CBU 2 concert I really enjoyed, not so keen on this one, sounds not good. Back to Jimmy Ibbotson the CBU 2 he was full of himself, this one he's wandering about at the back like a lost soul, when he does appear, I take it they had a big fall out......
@jennywren78227 жыл бұрын
lvsrlmsc thank you for that, I'll look them up, I hate Jennifer, it's only used when I'm in the doghouse, Jenny please.
@jennywren78227 жыл бұрын
lvsrlmsc yes I noticed the disconnect, I do notice things. These things often happen with 2 strong minded people working together, it's just a shame it happened here, Jimmy Ibbotson has such a good voice......

I think he should of been the lead singer his voice is amazing.
@billgreen23487 жыл бұрын
He and Jeff Hanna shared lead vocals for decades.
@juniper6174 жыл бұрын
He has a unique timbre, but I never liked his tendency to go up into a nasal whine. Jeff Hanna founded the band and was always the bandleader, and he’s a fine singer too. He and Ibby swapped leads all the time and did great harmonies. Ibby’s voice hasn’t held up as well as Jeff’s.
@charlesbolton84712 жыл бұрын
@@juniper617 Thank you for being the first person in the comments to give Jeff the credit he is due. With Jeff’s son Jamie in the band now I hope that is an indication the circle will remain unbroken and the band will continue after Jeff is gone.
