I was stationed in Fürth West Germany, I know the area and where did those mountains come from? It's flat in that area. I couldn't get to my barracks from that town, where ever that town is.

Nixon is a debateble carácter but in his interviews, seen now, show how he was able to foreseen the future. Modern China, Russia in so called workd order

Nixon had no place else to go but China and anybody with above and undergraduate understanding of world affairs at the time knew it. The Russians were slowly collapsing and happy to keep us at swords point. Europe didn't need us. America badly needed new markets. China desperately needed economic and technical advice to prevent more backwards sliding that would lead to this kind of deaths seen after the Great leap forward. There was no great insight here. Nixon had no where else to go.
