Reacting to EVERY 150cc World Record in Mario Kart Wii

Here we go! There has been so much activity this year and this was one of the most enjoyable years to look back on. As mentioned, we included a few alternative categories compared to years past and hopefully you enjoy watching through those as well. Congratulations to the entire playerbase for their accomplishments and continuing to grind towards their goals. I mentioned this during the commentary, but it has been incredible to see the average performance and skill level of the entire playerbase raise with this especially being reflected in the progression of the Worldwide Top 10s compared to previous years. I think the scene is in a very good spot and there is a lot of potential for 2025 to be a fantastic year overall. Good luck to everyone for their continued efforts! One note for the video: some of the input viewers may be slightly off sync for the beginning of the runs. The input viewer files generated were good but some of the time trial recordings themselves had some frame drops or doubled frames which would make it out of sync, but most of them are completely normal. Lastly, as you can see I included more detailed stats and extra details to make the viewing experience more engaged and enjoyable. To that end, there was a TON of text to manually write out on my end (creating individual Photoshop assets, typing every individual Worldwide Top 10 to be generated, etc). There's probably the rogue typo here and there but hopefully everything is accurate! I hope you enjoy this one. Community Info/Corrections: - There was a 1:48 fail corrected at the very end that was done by Barney which is on the MKW Fail Corrections YT channel. - RR IDB WR is by American player Ivan and not Spanish player Ivan! Spanish player Ivan was who I thought drove this who also does Kart TTs, and now goes by Fleza. - The overall RR combined bikes WR (separate from IDB WR charts which was in this video) is a 2:26.055 currently by Jerko. Crazy that it took 16 years for the playerbase to discover that hitting offroad and bonking into walls is faster. It happened in a world record so it must be true! :D (Edit: I swear that I didn't do that on purpose. It happens every once in a while when you have a wide line into the gap cut and that run just so happened to still be fast enough to 1:39 with that mistake. Currently working on 1:37!)

Flambam is a legend! I remember being stuck in a house fire, and shirtless and muscular flambam went through the fire and carried me out on his shoulder, making sure his 6’6” stature didn’t hit any debris. Thank you Nick for the encouragement, I do really appreciate that. ❤ As you could imagine this category with 3/3 shroomless is very brain draining. I was playing it actively since February pretty much and after my last pb in August I’ve only been playing it very on and off. I’m up to around 15 3/3s now (can’t remember exact total). But when my motivation returns I will be heavily grinding it again in the next year. Thanks again ❤

Unfortunately I set my 2:16.653 right before the CTGP update and did not update right away which is why the ghost data isn’t on CTGP, however, it was on MKWRs though lol. Thank you for reacting regardless, I’m very thrilled to finally be a part of one of these videos!

Ahhh that makes more sense now! Thank you for clarifying. I tried using the direct DL on MKWRs as well, but once clicking it, it directs to the page showing 'this content is no longer available' so I unfortunately wasn't able to get that ghost data. Regardless very exciting to see your progress you've made so far! The sheer dedication you had for what you did for the DH fast lap too as incredible, I think you're due for more accomplishments in the game with that mentality you've built now. @@NMeade also, There is currently a player known as idk_maniac that is currently going for rBC glitch WR. He is the current spear no-glitch bkt holder, and his goal is to implement the ending rail cut into WR runs, which is just absolutely insane, so definitely be on the look out for that! I would not be surprised at all if this category is down to a low 2:15 or high 2:14 by the time of the next WR reaction vid.

I really like the info about each run and the track in the bottom right. I think it would help a lot if the date the record was set was included in that box as well. That would help for some of these untouched records especially like Kasey’s LC for example

There isn't another video i look forward to every year nore than this one. Loved seeing the stats and the top 10s for each track as well. That was a great add to the video. One thing for next year, it would be cool to see the stats of how many records were set and comparison to previous years, like in the December parts of the old monthly series. It feels like there has been more activity in the last few years.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but Ivan on rainbow road is not the kart player, it is a different Ivan who plays competitive rts and cts online. He is a friend of mine and I saw his progress up until he set that run, he has some incredible ct times and its cool to see him apply them on rts!

This was a lovely surprise wow, this year has been insane for tts well done and massive congratulations to everyone for they're hard work, dedication and commitment!! I did find it quite fascinating how rock hop didn't get classified as the ng category but it is slightly confusing, is there like a rule which restricts respawn based strats from being counted for ng then? Given how much of the track gets cut off I'd have assumed that even if it was through respawn if the rock hop itself gets counted then so would the respawn. Very interesting, and like alr said well done to everyone this year and thanks for the amazing video again Mr nmeade!!

In future versions of these videos, you should ALSO include the date that the most recent WR was set, how long it's lasted, and how long the WR holder has reigned #1 over the category! (OFC, only if the category HAS a WR holder who also held the previous WR before improving it themselves.) You COULD also put the amount of days in total, overall, that the WR holder has held the record on a particular category, too! Regardless of any of these things though, AMAZING video yet again! I LOVE to see these videos from you, fella!

40:56 here has been my take on why the rock hop is not considered the primary category: The regular category loses appreciation because of the rock hop, if you are a mid level player and can do the left side rock hop 2 for 3 or even 1 for 3, the difference in skill between the no rock hop record, and some mid level time on rock hop is immense and I think the concern has been it could take value away from the top level times because, the rock hop is soooo busted, that you can beat the record from connor and barney without nearly being at the level they are at, because of the rock hop, for example, the fast staff ghost from CTGP, uses dry bowser flame runner, does rock hop left side, I forgot if it's 2 for 3 or what, the driving isn't god tier or anything, and yet, the time is less than a second off the bkt for the main category, I think the idea is to encourage people to get better at the track for the entire track, it's similar to why GV2 glitch isn't the main category I guess, because you skip important sections of the track that if no practiced, no one would ever get good at, and the idea is so when others play online on these tracks, they have prepared themselves properly for the entirety of the track and it's strats, instead of skipping parts of it, personally I am glad the rock hop isn't the main category, since I think the time gap you get from rock hop makes the rock hop seem like an easy way out or a cheat almost, if you wanna beat the world record "beat" you just do the rock hop twice and you basically win, this idea doesn't seem very appealing and makes the track seem like it's easy to win, the glitch is the exact same, too easy to win with it, and often times these massive shortcuts will overshadow not going for them and become the main category, like DDR with the shroom strat that WAS a flap strat, it basically skips a major portion of the track on a lap, making practicing that section not as important at least on that lap, this concept is unsatisfactory for some people I guess, because they want to see a player play the same route each lap with great consistency and accuracy.

@@corwintipper7317 they had a vote to change the ruling recently, I believe that the winning vote made it so that you can drive on rock surfaces and it not count as a sc, but in turn made any variation of the rock hop sc disallowed (including the ones that don't touch the rock)
