I made a video of me running on the Shelley Banks Beach in Dublin in the shoes. You can watch it here:

Had regular Tomirs around 6 months. Love them so much. Somehow my wide forefoot is happy in the narrow looking shoe. The lugs and grip inspire so much confidence. They are also tough as nails and have put up with the very hardest conditions imaginable - the first 50k of the Ouray 100 was dealt with easily enough. These have become my favourite trail shoes, I’m super impressed.

Yesterday I was sure wishing for a pair of Barry's waterproof trail shoes, the full on autumn wet weather has really hit us now after a very lovely warm Sept/most of Oct!🌨🍁🏃🏻‍♀🍂🌬

Great review! Thanks. Interestingly I found that the tongue dug into the front of my foot when I tried these on so I passed on them. Sounds like the tongue was a plus point for you though.
@OldManRunner
@OldManRunner 9 ай бұрын
I forgot to mention that you need to wear socks that go up the leg higher than the tongue. As otherwise it does rub against the forefoot. I guess that most people running in these would be doing that

Gosh the NY is coming up fast now Barry, maybe you're on your way there now actually, and the weather forecast looks perfect too!! Have you heard that the new Novablast 4 will be available at the expo there? Are you thinking of picking up a pair? Hope you're feeling great and ENJOY your trip!!! Looking forward to your usual pre-marathon video!! 💪🏻🏃‍♂🍁⛅🍂

Bonjour Bev. I’m here in Dublin juggling a lot of things! I fly Thursday and hope to have a video out before I fly about what I think the New York marathon will be like. Then I plan to make one comparing reality with the preview. And then another one about New York and one about Sundays Dublin marathon that I watched live and in glorious heavenly waterage…wow the Tomir came at the right time! And also planning a video about visiting New York and then one reviewing a ring for BFCM… and then a pair of shoes arrives today…And then there is the day job which is full on! Graduations today… always wonderful! I hadn’t heard the Novablast 4 is at NYC. I spoke to an ASICS guy in Dublin who says the Superblast Paris is coming post Christmas. That is 100% on the radar!

@@OldManRunner Ouah tu es plutôt inondé alors!! Hope you're managing to SLEEP Barry!! OHHHHHH Superblast Paris!!!! ☺😋 I'm salivating!!😂 Last Paris marathon it was the Nimbus 25, and heaps of people bought them! Personally I think the Nimbus 25, though lovely comfy, it sorely lacks energy return and actually becomes tiring by 20km! Next April though I'm not gonna do the Paris 'cause I wanna do the 50km trail at La Diagonale des Yvelines, which is always the same weekend unfortunately! I've been training hard for it since mid-August! Bonne courage Barry!!

Hi, do you recommend this shoes in Asia that more humid, rainy and slippery track, thank you
@OldManRunner
@OldManRunner 5 ай бұрын
I would recommend the grip on a slippery track and they will keep the water out in heavy rain. The difficulty with waterproof shoes is that they keep the water from coming in, but also reduce the ability of moisture to get out. So in humid conditions if your feet sweat a lot, your socks may saturate. It depends on the distance you run. For short distances in heavy rain they may be great, for longer distances perhaps less so.

I've thought about getting waterproof shoes previously but have always been out off by thinking the logic was once water gets in (through ankle gaps / socks) it has no way to get out and you're stuck with pools of water stuck in the shoe. Whereas say with the Trail Peagus it let's the water in but then it can also leave. Will you be spectating in Dublin Sunday?
@OldManRunner
@OldManRunner 9 ай бұрын
I will be spectating Sunday. I’m hoping to make a video… a few friends are running and I’m going to ask them about it etc. Going to the expo tomorrow and possibly Searsons after the run on Sunday with my friend Paul from Mullingar. If you spot me say hello! Not a fan of the trail Pegasus. I haven’t worn them myself But Michelle has a few pairs…

Hello, I usually run between 30-50km in races. I am looking for a shoe that is comfortable and can last a long time. I am stuck between La sportiva Akasha II and NNormal Tomir Waterprof. Please give me your opinion and help.
@OldManRunner
@OldManRunner 7 ай бұрын
I have not run in the Akasha II. As far as I can tell it is not Waterproof, and that might make the difference to you. The Tomir is about the same weight and price, though I have seen the Akasha II on discount. Ultimately I am very happy with the Tomir WP, and would happily buy it again, but perhaps you can find other detailed information on the two shoes on the internet

His did you find the sizing? I typically wear EU 48 or US 13. I could only find these in 47 1/3 online. Reviewers seem to suggest to size up but that would rule them out for me.
@OldManRunner
@OldManRunner 5 ай бұрын
The manufacturers give different conversions. I always go for a UK 12. Sometimes that is a USM12.5 sometimes a USM13. These have been fine. Ran a half marathon in the snow in them last week and then walked 24000 steps the following day and they were great. My feet stayed dry apart from my own perspiration. Nnormal have got a Tomir 2 released in some countries, but possibly not the WP version. I think the main difference is that the midsole is a little softer which would be welcome, but for running on snow or soft ground, or walking around as I do, it's a shoe I rate highly.
@sdemosi
@sdemosi 5 ай бұрын
@@OldManRunner thanks Barry. I'll give them a try. I'm a snug UK 12.5 in Hoka and Mammut so hopefully the 12 in Nnormal will fit but I suspect it will be tight. I also saw they have a Tomir 2 out with their supercritical EVA midsole but no sign of a waterproof version yet. The ideal shoe for me handles a bit of trail running and some fast hiking in Ireland and the UK. Currently wearing Lowa Amplux for this with waterproof socks when needed. It's a great shoe but I'd like to try a waterproof trail shoe at some stage. Waterproof socks aren't very comfortable in my experience.

I tried waterproof socks and it was like wearing a plastic bag between two layers of socks, which is roughly what it is...I really enjoyed this shoe in Latvia. if you havent seen it here is the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnmwd6mpjrqkaqc

@@OldManRunner under most conditions a quick drying sock is better than a waterproof one. They feel horrible. Riga is on the list. I've visited most European countries but never Latvia. What a gorgeous city in winter time. I'll watch the Joyce lecture later. Thanks again

You mentioned snow, how do you think they would perform on icy roads?
@OldManRunner
@OldManRunner 9 ай бұрын
I was wondering that yesterday. I don't run on ice...a fear of doing the splits and general absence of ice helps with that...But if any shoe could cope without added spikes it would be these as they reall are grippy. Will test when it does get icy...
