I love Balance. Probably because of a play I saw back in the late 90's. Player one manages to put something like a Juzam Djinn and Erhnam Djinn in play on turn one (an 8 mana play in total) using something like a Black Lotus, a Mox, Dark Ritual and probably something else. Can't remember exactly - it's been almost three decades. Basically his nut draw and presenting nine damage per turn. Opponent doesn't look frazzled at all. On his turn he plays land, Mox Pearl and then calmly plays Balance. And the reaction from player one was beautiful. He didn't get upset. He didn't get angry. He didn't say anything negative. He started laughing like crazy, which really brought attention to the whole situation.

They gonna say that the most broken stuff that happened that game was the smothering tithe, but we cant pretend that rothollos, griselband, golos and iona all wernt massive in how this game turned out. Richard was able to king make and not really advance the game. Phil got insane early mid and late game value from his commander. Tomer was able to ramp after a balance (another rightfully banned super strong performing card) and cast three free spells, and Seth was able to draw soooo many cards and even though he was left alive, he was left alive because his life was low BECAUSE HE DREW SOO MANY CARDS. Super fun to watch and love unbanned games, but dont pretend that all 4 of these cards are fine lol.

@thatepicwizardguy 100% agree with this. Seth was the only way Richard could have a chance against Phil, so he could only realistically chose green for Iona, and even in Iona HAD come down, the biggest game winners on the board/deck was the eldrazi. Sure these 4 commanders are strong, but black has a million ways of doing what Griselbrand did, and White's worst or most powerful cards are way faster and more game-winning than Iona

Nope, Griselbrand as commander used to be faster than K'rrik when it was legal, and this is before JLo was ever conceived. Kaalia of the Vast used to cheat G-Bizzle and Iona, including by Entomb Reanimate, but it was actually slower as well as less consistent. The deck is basically rocks, rituals, tutors, discard, Tendrils, and a Xiahou Dun or something to get back Tendrils.
@T_Peazy2 ай бұрын
@alexanderwaller7354 you said griselbrand is fast as a commander then listed 6 ways to cheat it out on turn 2 that d9nt work feom the command zone. Any deck can play rocks into 8 drops on 4. That's not a grizzy-b problem. K'rrik doesn't need ANYTHING else to come down on 4 and CAN come down on turn 1 or 2 easily with little help. You're objectively incorrect.
@T_Peazy2 ай бұрын
@alexanderwaller7354 also griselbrand isn't a storm payoff. Rituals, rocks, tutors into tendrils is great. If you tutor, rituals and rocks into griselbrand. You've wasted a storm turn.
@alexanderwaller73542 ай бұрын
@@T_Peazy I play K'rrik cEDH and played Griselbrand 10 years ago. I've firsthand experience of being correct. Grisel is like an Ad Nauseam in the command zone. You ramp into him, storm goes up, draw 35 cards, play more free ramp into bigger ramp into tutor Tendrils, storm goes up, draw more cards, pick up Tendrils & play another one, its all a one-turn thing. The storm doesn't finish when you play Griselbrand, it keeps going, he might be card 5 in a storm of 30+. K'rrik was good with JLo and Crypt but Grisel never needed those to be on another level. You can see I'm right by goldfishing both.
