Mount Kosciuszko is the highest peak in which country? Australia!!!
Mount Kosicuszko summit is a bucket-list item for every Australian backpacker or traveller and so it was for me too. Mount Kosciuszko Australia is situated in Kosicuszko national park in NSW at an elevation of 2228mts above sea level making it Australia's tallest mountain.
There are 3 Koscuiszko summit walks that can take you to the top of Australia's highest peak:
1. Thredbo to Mount Kosciuszko via Chairlift - 13kms return
2. Charlotte Pass to Mount Kosciuszko via Summit Trail - 18kms return
3. Main Range Track Mount Kosciuszko from Charlotte Pass - 22kms return
I did a loop track where I used Charlotte Pass Summit Track and Main Range walk in a 20kms return loop and explore all of Kosciuszko National park.
Mount Kosciuszko in summer is a sight to behold and the perfect weather for this hike. Mount Kosciuszko winter walk can also be done but only advised for highly experienced advance hikers.
Mount Kosciuszko camping is another very popular activity. Kosciuszko national park camping is free but under certain rules that can be found on NSW National Parks website and Kosciuszko camping is particularly done to divide the walk in two days or explore other areas of the region.
I loved the Kosciuszko Main Range Walk but it is extremely difficult with different terrain that is not for amateur hikers.
My base for the Snowy Mountains in summer experience was Jindabyne and I also went for Lake Jindabyne Kayaking to start the adventurous weekend.
