Normally, I wait for a Criterion-Collection sale...but I wanted to own this gem sooner than later. The novel is excellent as well. 2007 was an incredible year for westerns: 3:10 to Yuma, There Will be Blood, No Country for Old Men, and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (which, in my opinion, is the greatest film of the four). Thank you for sharing your thoughts. My copy arrives soon. I can only think of ONE flaw in this film: the computer-generated bird that Anton shoots while driving over the bridge.

Honestly I dont know what the purpose of that scene was. I think it was clear that Anton was a psychopath beyond humanity. It was just so whacky

I read the Cormac McCarthy novel right after seeing No Country For Old Men in 2007... I can't exactly recommend the book for anyone due to the strange writing style or format of the story. I remember each character's dialogue has no quotation marks used. Almost no descriptions or details are used... The book reads like a film script with only dialogue.

i have an OLED and there’s a couple of moments where the black levels were a little bit bluish but its fantastic for the most part i think the audio track stole the show here, its pretty incredible

Had to see this, do not own the blu-ray but will get this next year why because theres no rush as it is not a Limited Edition, i had to buy A Simple Plan from arrow recently, love the artwork, is Disk 2 Region Free please ? This 4k sounds very good, thought your Demolition Man 4k Review was very good, whereas mid level media was totally different, he thinks he knows stuff but he actually knows very lirrle .

Love the film - definitely a modern classic, as it's called - but there's absolutely nothing wrong with the original Disney/Miramax Blu-ray in my opinion. To this day, it remains a demo disc in terms of detail, color saturation and black levels - if you want to see what blacks SHOULD look like in a good transfer, check out the scene when Brolin is going over the border bridge at night. Downright stunning. I'll save the cash for another 4K title.

I think the existing Blu looks pretty amazing. I wish the supplements on this release were a little deeper but it sounds like it is still worth an upgrade. BTW, Lone Star is arguably the best transfer Criterion released this year. Definitely worth picking that up as well. Would love to hear your thoughts on that one.

Sony recently wound down blu-ray production, and now top competitor LG is following suit. No more disks, no more players. For major manufacturers, the format (if not optical media entirely) will soon be history. Samsung quit years ago.

I have this and the original blu ray and ive done a side by side and its NOT much better in my opion .not sure why everyone is saying 4k is amazing . I buy 4k alot and its very hit and miss as an upgrade

It’s okay but the end is stupid. We never get to see Chigurgh shoot Moss which was the whole driving point of the plot (it was probably edited out for some reason). We only see the aftermath which makes it more annoying.
