Congrats on the new Warner Bros relationship, Andrew! Can't wait to have you start reviewing their films now, too!
@newsbender5 күн бұрын
Why does he need a "relationship" with Warner to review their films? Just buy the disc and do it. Sounds iffy to me if he has to be affiliated with them somehow. Edit: as I suspected, he spends this entire "review" gushing about this release and doesn't mention its inherent problems once.
@CavanaughsCorner5 күн бұрын
@newsbender I have been buying and reviewing their discs for many years now. To be able to have a studio send me advance copies in order for me to review them is a huge honor usually only bestowed to much larger channels than mine. I've worked hard to get to where I am now. My opinion is my own and my thoughts on a release doesn't change whether I purchase a disc or if it's sent to me. If your opinion differs, that's cool. I appreciate you watching and taking time to comment.

James Cameron had nothing to do with t2. Studio canal did that and used the 3d print by mistake.

Does it have the original sound effects from the vhs
@LordDementus19875 күн бұрын
It does contain the original mono audio track. I believe the primary audio track is Dolby TrueHD 7.1 Atmos. The secondary track is DTS-HD MA 2.0 (original mono).

This was the film that put James Cameron on the map, so I'm glad that Cameron and the folks at WB gave the transfer the TLC it deserved.
@LordDementus19875 күн бұрын
It should have been released years ago through somebody like Arrow or Shout Factory.
@peterm.43555 күн бұрын
Warner has nothing to do with it, the AI 4K upscale was done by Park Road, just like the rest Cameron 4Ks.
@LordDementus19875 күн бұрын
I thought it was worth getting. Comparing back and forth between the previous 2015 Blu-ray I have - you have the mono audio track again. The 2015 Blu-ray to me (based off the 2013 remaster) was incredibly cyan-biased on many shots. The 4K seems like they aimed for more neutral color timing. And yeah there's a few shots that are obvious green screen but these were also obvious on the Blu-rays too. I really didn't even notice the DNR which tells me it wasn't overpowering. Overall, it's worth getting imo.
@CavanaughsCorner5 күн бұрын
I couldn't agree more. The older blu-ray is definitely tinted heavily and I didn't see that nearly as much in this new remaster.

Although I would prefer they did an actual new 4k restoration vs the 2k AI upscale they did I will admit their AI process is improving and learning a lot. I'm curious too if there's actual film grain left in tact or if they scrubbed it then digitally re added it.

Watched it last night. Looks incredible and a step up from the already stellar 2013 MGM remaster. Now if they would fix the botched wax-like T2 we would be in business.
@CavanaughsCorner5 күн бұрын
I totally agree. It's a big upgrade. We can only hope for a redo of T2. That film deserves a much better treatment compared to what it got a few years back.

I personally couldn't stand Aliens, The Abyss and especially True Lies. So I was waiting until the first reviews before I spent any money on The Terminator. I am delighted to hear the good news. Perhaps they learned their lesson from the negative feedback from those earlier releases.
@LordDementus19875 күн бұрын
The Abyss was actually not bad but it is the usual Cameron cyan-bias and yes some shots look scrubbed. Aliens I would say stick with the original Blu-ray and True Lies get the Spanish bootleg.

Scream factory ceo explained how films are remastered they always use dnr to clean up the film grain there is dnr and dnr abuse which abuse is getting rid of film grain and dnr is just cleaning it up to be watchable previous blu ray didn't use dnr which no blu ray does and it was hard to watch with the film grain which they fixed on the new 4k blu ray
@LordDementus19875 күн бұрын
It's surprising that Cameron overuses DNR though as the film stocks he shoots on are specifically designed to reduce the amount of grain and give a cleaner picture.
