Adventure Elliot is a bilingual travel vlogger (English and Spanish) with a particular interest in the Spanish speaking world. I enjoy taking adventures - big or small - and my goal is to show the Spanish speaking world 1 video at a time.
The goal of my channel is simple yet complex: I want to document and share authentic & educational content of anything related to Adventure Travel, Geography, & Language in the Spanish-speaking world. It's kind of a loaded topic, but it allows me to never exhaust my creative outlets. The truth is, I've always been extremely passionate about what I'm doing on my channel, but I never properly documented it when I started adventuring as a younger man in my college years. I've made over 150 KZbin videos in both English and Spanish, and I have aspirations to make 1000s more. If that sounds interesting to you, join the community and follow me along the way.. After all, we're just getting started.

Ingla/anglos, terra/tierra... Ingla/Terra tierra de anglos... O su traducción moderna Inglaterra.

Video is about Latin America, (in Spain, but not Spain). Elliot, Latin America is an American reality, a mostly Native American ethnic reality. Spain is Europe. We are different. Everything (music, dances, body language) in the video to me, a Northern Spaniard, is alien, foreign.
@AdventureElliot
@AdventureElliot Жыл бұрын
Your ancestors made Latin America. It shouldn’t be so foreign.
@lauramartin-bk9nr
@lauramartin-bk9nr Жыл бұрын
@@AdventureElliot It feels foreign. It´s another continent, another ethnicity. What is the problem with differences when globalism through mass migrations wants to make everything the same? My ancestors built 843 hospitals and 33 universities in Latin America, stopped massive human sacrifices, gave laws protecting Indian rights (Laws of Burgos, 1513) and preserved the indigenous race of Native Americans. That is true... But they built all that alongside and with NATIVE AMERICANS Hence modern Latin Americans bear the Native American (and African in Venezuela, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic) cultural traditions. Latin Americans represent Native American phenotypes, ethnicities, cultures, styles of life, ways of speech, music, foods, that are plainly different from Spain`s. European common roots go back genetically 20 thousand years; culturally 2000y to the Roman Empire. With Latin America there were 300 y of common history; never heard of each other prior to 1492, and parted ways in 1820-1820 fragmenting in 20 masonic republics led by sell out anti Spain military and politican traitors.. Also "Latin" America, is a masonic french concept. Spain never called its territories in the Americas "Latin" America; it was called the "America virreinal" bajo la Monarquía española.
@PolarisMidnightSoldierLux
@PolarisMidnightSoldierLux Жыл бұрын
@laura martin As a Puerto Rican, I acknowledge we still descend from the mother country, whether we like it or not. Now, you're correct that Latin Americans are ethnically different from native Spaniards because of Native American and African blood, but that being something that excludes us from participating in Spanish culture isn't right. Spaniards are different from the French because of the centuries of Moorish intermixing during rule under al-Andalus, but does that disqualify them from being a Romance people group? What about the Italians with their encounters with the Ostrogoths, Lombards, Normans, and Arabs? The Arabs ruled over Sicily for centuries and intermixed with the native Sicilians just like in Muslim Spain. Should they be excluded from being Romance, too? Furthermore, the Native Americans contracted diseases from the Spaniards that were completely unknown to them in the New World, especially smallpox. The Spaniards did not create an egalitarian society where natives "worked" with the settlers - they were forced into slavery as their populations continued to die from European diseases they had no immunity from. The Taíno, a people group native to Puerto Rico, were wiped out by disease and slavery. The Taíno heritage only survived through the intermixing of Spaniards and African slaves, the latter group being forcibly brought to Latin America after native populations were decimated. Just like how Spain adopted the traditions of the Celts from the north and Moors from bthe south (which of course depends by region), the Spanish settlers adopted the traditions of the Native Americans and Africans. While through violent means and the racial hierarchy of the encomienda system, these people developed into distinct groups with a blend of ethnic backgrounds. To this day, they remain in the Spanish sociolingustic and religious spheres. Also, I don't know what's "masonic" about the Latin American wars of independence. Spain was a shadow of her former self, especially after the defeat of the Spanish armada and financial woes after tons of silver from the Americas dramatically increased her inflation. This became even worse when Napoleon began the Peninsular War and attempted to subjugate the country, which severely weakened Spanish power abroad. That combined with Napoleon trying to install his brother, Joseph on the Spanish throne messed with loyalties in the colonies. Were they to profess loyalty to the deposed Ferdinand VII or the new French puppet Joseph? While grossly simplified, this resulted in Latin America declaring independence, with many countries such as Colombia shedding countless amounts of blood to achieve their goal. This was not a conspiracy or plot; it was the result of waning imperial power and overall chaos in Europe. I am not here to be confrontational or come across as your enemy. My great-grandfather came from northern Spain to build a new life and participate in the Latin American community. That did not make him less of a Spaniard or outright disqualify him from his peninsular heritage, nor was that the case for his descendents. My mother even worked for an indiano from Galicia who built his own hospital in Puerto Rico. Today, my cousin lives in Zaragoza and has found herself a wonderful Spanish man. She alongside all Latin Americans (including our distant Filipino cousins) are part of the Spanish-speaking community around the world. I am proud of the country you live in not for its imperialistic brutality in history, but because she is the homeland that all of us descend from. Let's not get wrapped up in confusing tales that shroud true history and acknowledgement of the past. Estamos unidos ❤️

@@PolarisMidnightSoldierLux Sorry but you`re worng and manipulating history and genetic data. There was never centuries of mixing. There hundreds of thousands of french and central Europeans, the FRANCOS" of the Medieval chronicles, making up the REPOPULATION that drove the RECONQUISTA, with was a mass REPUPULATION program. Once the Reconquista was complted, afterwards came the EXPULSION OF CHRISTIANS OF MUSLIM BACKGROUND IN 1609. No population genetics study of Haplogroups shows SPAIN but as a predominantly European Celtic r1b nation with minority of berber, a caucasian element present in Austria (the Wiki article regarding the african presence in Iberian peninsula lumps Spain and Portugal together, when they are different historical and ethnic realities (due to Spain receving masses of central Euroeans in the Camino de santiago; due to Portugal having a colonial history in africa since the 15th century); second makes North african as not caucasian, and omits that the berber haplogroup is in Europe: in Austria, Italy, Greece, the Balkans, even Germany). Im from Navarra and even by those manipulated WIKI accounts the % of north african dna is ZERO. Sorry to break your stereotype. See the Eupedia map of Europe of haplogrups of the Rotterdam automal map of 2008: two nations that share roots for 20 thousand years. With America there is a brief recent contact. That`s why there isn`t a "latin american" in Spain that isn`t recognized immediately as a latino, whereas Frenchman can not be distinguished phenotypically from Spaniards. Ignoramuses see Gypsies and beleive that they come from the moors; Gypsies were all over cenral europe but were exterminated by Hitler; in Spain they thrived. This video`s title and your ignorant comment promotes ethnic confusion, and partakes in what Hollywood has done for a century: attempting to portray Spain as non white European. This is an unacceptable manipulation of the ethnic identity of native Spaniards.

@@PolarisMidnightSoldierLux P. S. Probably the rest of your post is interesting, but when you begin it with a falsehood such as ;"Spaniards are different from the French because of the centuries of Moorish intermixing", I stop reading. See maps of haplogrups of Europe. Travel through both nations. The natives in some areas of Spain are fairer than the natives in some areas in France. During the Reconquista, there were LAWS against racial intermixing in both sides; there were FRONTIERS; there was MASS REPOPULATION: and there is no arab DNA in the Spaniard`s genoma. Some moriscos were allowed to hide and remain in the nation by the good and compassionate will of private persons, which is something completely different form centuries of intermixing, something that did not take place and that is not reflected in autosomal genetic maps. Dna doesn`t lie: aboev we see the latinoamericans all as DIFFERENT phenotypically form Spaniards; the same thing occurs with Morroccoans. What there was in the Middle Ages is centuries of brutal warfare, centuries of Christians being taken as slaves, especially women to the harems, while the men were castrated and sold in the markets in north africa..
