Today we take a look at Fujitsu Services Ltd, Lovelace Rd, Bracknell, Berkshire RG12 8SN.
It's a hot topic at the moment being the supplier of the Horizon Software in the centre of the Post Office Scandal, so we take a drive down to Bracknell and check out the Fujitsu UK HQ.
We remain on the public footway until security speak to us and we move closer.
Security inform us that we are not allowed to Take Photos of the Building or fly the drone around.
For some reason, they are told to restrict members of the public on the public highway from doing a lawful activity.
The question is, do we stop taking pictures and do we fly the drone around?

The scandal that people are referring to was 10 years ago or more. None or very few of these people just going to work in 2024 are even remotely involved with that : 95% of the people in the building are not involved with the Post Office account. Worked there as a contractor a couple of years back. Falling to bits inside. There was an American security guard and a facilities manager that were both 10/10 bellends. I so wish it had been them that got the DJ treatment!

Guess Fujitsu took the "brutalist architecture" of their headquarters a byte too serious. Great information DJ on the Horizon-Post Office issues and video. ⭐⭐⭐👍 Bracknell Blogger posted in 2015 (with contribution by Andrew) the building was constructed in 1968 for British computer company ICL. The rear extension was original a computer hall to accommodate the large computers of the 70s. ICL was taken over by Canadian Northern Telecom, then STC Standard Telephones and Cables, and then Fujitsu (2002). ICL wiki notes the company formed in 1968 under the Industrial Expansion Act. In 1981 ICL partnered with Fujitsu for some software. STC acquired ICL in 1984 takeover bid. By 1990 Fujitsu owned an 80% in ICL. The Post office Horizon software contract was established in 1996. Fujitsu completed acquisition of ICL in 2002. So the government passes legislation forcing existing companies to create a new company for the computer industry. Then a foreign company gradually takes over and has contracts with the government. The government blames employees for errors in the product. Eventually the product faults cost the government and people billions.

The Post Office sold their broadband business off a couple of years ago to Shell energy. Fujitsu ran their billing software for post office broaddband. Fujitsu would have put their security arrangements out to tender. They will have stipulated a X amount of years contract for X amount of security requirements and gone for the lowest bid. The result is guards on minimum wage whether it's nights, days or weekends. Not many British people will last long at it so they will attract immigrants who think UK minimum wage is a lottery win.

I think back in mid late 80's maybe early 90's I visited this site when it was ICL. Later in early 2000's the company I worked for bought many brand new fujitsu pc's. We quickly discovered that they were illegal*. Disgraceful company. * The power supplies had no emi filter ( it was linked out) and no power factor correction circuitry, which reduces mains harmonic currents. All the power supplies were changed to legal ones.

I just watched PJ showing his camera you bought him, what a lovely gesture that was and thank you for being a kind soul. That was vey humble of you and it put a smile on my face. Much love from Liverpool. I advise ya to not do it around here though as people are lunatics and they will just attack ya without any warning etc.
