Thanks for not attacking me for my Linkin Park comment and educating me instead. Not all comment sections are like these. That's why Maggots are the best. :D LP was the only band of those you're mentioning that I was into back then. But thanks as always for the info. Love you guys.

10:08 Korn are the godfathers of the nu metal, they the ones who started the whole rap/hip hop/metal. Slipknot influenced by their music a lot in the self titled, also because the producer ross Robinson that did the st and iowa was the one who did korn's first 2 albums

Rap was in Slipknot's history long before Korn brought it to the mainstream.

Slipknot used rapping years before nu metal hit the mainstream, as can be heard on 1996's 'Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.' However, they also dabbled with rapping before then, as can be heard in the basement sessions of '92/'93.

5:25 the backing vocals in this one are created by pinnochio, most of them are, in iowa clown guy participates more, a curious thing os that the producer of self titled obligated to pinnochio to drink tons of water for him to ve about to vomit when he screamed

"THIS IS NO GOING TO FLY!" Man I love S/T the raw and intensity of this album but also one thing that I love is Corey's vocals he sounds so different waay younger in most of the songs, u can hear the youth in his voice, like angry Corey junior, despite Eyeless Spit it out Prosthetic where he used his IOWA voice, btw are you planning on to react to their DEMOS? (Maybe u already did some, im lost) coz their demos hits HARD, also most of these demos Corey uses his IOWA voice,

Definitely one of my favorite Slipknot songs ever. Also one of the very first ones I heard. But the first version I heard of it was live, from a bootleg album called Requiem 2000 which I got as an Easter present. It had a few studio songs (Spit it Out, Surfacing, and two songs by other bands but which featured Corey as a guest: Requiem by Snot and Jumpdafuckup by Soulfly), plus 14 live tracks, most of them from the same concert (Chicago 2000). That bootleg was my introduction to Slipknot.

Anthrax with Public Enemy are likely the ones that paved the way for the whole rap/metal thing with "Bring the Noise". Faith No More (and Mike Patton) were most likely a big influence on nu-metal too, or at least they were a huge influence on Slipknot. These groups were around in the '80's before Korn and nu-metal in general. Why did Slipknot stray from this in future albums? My guess is because they always hated being lumped into the nu-metal genre and never considered themselves as such. Their influences came from elsewhere.

9:09 that would be a sid moment 😉 The siren sound during the intro from 0:07-0:19 is Pinhead 11:09 there’s some debate as to who actually does that. Some say the beeping is pinhead and the scratching is sid, some say it’s all sid and others pinhead but you can be assured it’s 100% Pin sid 🤣
@romaretaylor99532 жыл бұрын
no the beeping was Sid as well, it’s an sped up effect of an old horn/old instrument. Even in the intro he’s doing it but it altered to sound slower. I heard the sample in his Vinyl

Nu Metal era began around mid 96 and during that time bands like Korn, Deftones, Limp Bizkit starting to come out the biggest years for that genre of music 1998 and 1999. You know how you were asking about when they ended their rapping when it got to 2003 nu metal ended then a new genre was coming out Emo. However Slipknot and Deftones are the only nu metal bands still remaining.
@Benobot992 жыл бұрын

I would say Limp Bizkit probably started the rap rock stuff. They were huge before Linkin Park. I wouldnt put Slipknot in that category. They were more metal. Korn started the nu metal scene and probably were the first metal group to mesh elements of rap into their music. Slipknot was influenced by Korn but they are so unique. The closest band to Slipknot in my opinion would be Mudvayne.

Hi, I must mention the Beastie boys here. I am sure you understand why. Otherwise, this one is really rappy, I do not think there is anything like this on the other albums. Maybe it`s time though to diversify, I recommend you take a look at Gojira (if you do not know them that is). Cheers.
