To each their own! Everyone connects with different things for all sorts of reasons. This is my favorite song by them. When I bought the album when it came out and heard this.. I ended up listening to it like 10 times over and crying lol. All because of the little super quiet section towards the end. That part just really hit a nerve and made this my favorite from them that they never quite beat since. One of my favorite songs of all time. I was also like 15 or something at the time though. So I'm sure that helped lol. :)

I'm just glad you're doing L.D.50 songs. When I was younger it took me a few listens for this album to click for me, but once it did, I was completely hooked on this band. I love this album!
@ethosfm12623 жыл бұрын
8:45 those lyrics can only really be understood in the greater context of the album. To sum it up it is about death and rebirth (the death of ego specifically) and working through the issues and confronting them directly instead of hiding from them and them getting the better of you. I've been listening to this album since it came out. I did ungodly amounts of mind altering substances (dissociatives mostly) to this album which is a part of the theme of us being apes that evolved due to psychedelic mushrooms. I used to go to sleep to this album. I say all this to say, that I am probably as close as you can get to being an expert on this album without having been in the band lol. In isolation your take is completely understandable, but taken with the whole album which deals with the darkest parts of our psyche you see that it is actually on a path up, not down. Recent sub...loving your takes on things. Also...you kinda look like Maynard from back in the APC days lol (that's a compliment in case you were wondering)

When someone says you look like a man, it's hard to take it as a compliment. :D
@ginodelgobbo92373 жыл бұрын
The song isnt about anything specifically actually. The Band went out of their way to stress they wanted each listener to develop their own relationship with each song this Album and purposefully didnt claim a direct meaning to any song and have stated such in multiple interviews. Your interpretation of the songs meaning is just that. The relationship or correlation to your own life/experiences. Cheers. 👍
@ethosfm12623 жыл бұрын
@@ginodelgobbo9237 death and rebirth aren't specific and are in fact universal. Good artists know how to make art that is personal while being universal. Ain Soph Aur as well as other concepts blatantly expressed in the album and in the artwork as well clearly point towards death and rebirth. Even the name of the album is about the duality of life and death. It isn't specific because it doesn't necessarily deal with a particular event or people in their lives, but the themes expressed most certainly are there for a reason. Otherwise it wouldn't be a concept album, which it is.

One thing i love about mudvayne is they keep you on your toes. They have so many switch ups twists and turns in their songs. You aint gonna listen to the first part of one of their song's and say i know how its gonna sound the whole way through. Especially with this song they change up the screams and singing so much. Sonically its like 4 different songs in one

Thank you for your perfectly rational reaction to this lesser example of Mudvayne's appeal to spiritual introspection. I love these guys, but this song is most relative to those that feel or wish they were severed from the all--or fabric of consciousness--and its illusion of free will. I've been suicidal a few times, so I can understand the angst against god's mysterious will and want for mastery over one's destiny without repercussion. It's almost akin to the fable of Lucifer's departure from heaven and his obstinance in the face of his connectedness with the source. The second album, The End of All Things to Come, invokes many more principles of Eastern mysticism; I think this is why people couldn't latch onto it like they did the first, which is much less profound in its messaging. The differences between the first two albums are of maturity, which should be obvious, but many bands do not conceptually progress as much. That many people prefer the first album has always baffled me, the second has much catchier songs. Still, I'm not one to get hung up on lyrics; I care about how songs feel; it bugs me that people miss the complexities of musical composition just to analyze and assume meanings in lyrics. Maybe I'm the weirdo; it works for me. I know you do polls for song choices somewhere on some other social thingy that I'll likely never be interested in. Still, I'm gonna throw this to the aether regardless, "Mercy, Severity" and "(Per)version of a Truth" are my favorite songs by Mudvayne. Mostly because they get stuck in my head for so long. I hope you can get around to them, even in your own time, if you do that. I thoroughly enjoy your reactions, gestures, and expressions, especially the air-pause button, which gets me every time. Thanks again for the time and consideration you put into your videos. See you next time.

This is actually my favorite song off the album next to Death Blooms. But yeah I think some parts can be jarring in L.D 50. Feel like they tightened things up a bit in End Of All Things to Come but kept some of that L.D magic and to me is still peak mudvayne, favorite album.

I gotta admit, I've never seen one of your videos and was kind of disappointed thinking you had a negative vibe towards it before watching the video. However watching the rest of your video I can appreciate you trying to give it a fair shot. Some of the most hardcore mudvayne fans missed the true meaning behind the songs on this album and the themes behind them all. I absolutely love them, but after this album you can tell the driving force just isn't there like it is on this one. We all like what we like, but to view this as a "music fan" rather than a conscious being does it a disservice. I'm definitely gonna check out some more of your videos cause now I'm intrigued but I hope you come back to this some day , maybe even just to find what's behind the lyrics themselves (which then neglects the amazing instrumental work sadly but you seemed to enjoy that part). When dissected, I think we all can relate to the weight carried in this album.

I liked it. The bass had a very prominent presence. The screams did remind me of Corey Taylor..... The clean voice was a little less strong. I didn't understand what you were saying about the lyrics. Slipknot lyrics are at some point pretty much the same imo. And you adore them whatever they do. Perhaps I misunderstood , don't shoot me. Cheers🍺
@MusicCatsandCoffee3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm...I think if I'd heard a lot of Mudvayne before this, maybe I'd have a different take on it. I think once you establish that you really love a band, it turns into loving whatever they do. And I think that happens with Corey Taylor stuff I hear. BUT I don't adore whatever Slipknot does. Not a fan of Scissors. Really didn't like Tattered and Torn or Purity. I know I put a lot of emphasis on lyrics, but 9 times out of 10, if I don't like a song it's because I don't like how it sounds. It's easy to put lyrics aside if you like the music part of it, but not the other way around. It's rare to find a song where you don't like the music but love the lyrics. Mostly because if you don't like how it sounds, you won't stick around for the lyrics. That's my longwinded answer instead of shooting you. :)

This is the kind of song that is supposed to set a person thinking about life, its not always an enjoyable thing but good to reflect upon oneself. You sure look Confused about this Song. This song has many layers and has many symbolic aspects to it. I am sure it has a deeper meaning. The fact that the words Ain Soph Aur was used, it means we are entering the domain of faith and religion, which is not a very easy topic to digest. Not many will be able to understand it. It might have a Hebrew or Biblical meaning and some linkage to Kabbalah, but in short, it probably means Light, (not to be confused with the ordinary light in the home) If a person is religious, he or she could probably realise the use of multiple voices has a function. It could represent the inner voice that all of us have, a dark, negative, pessimistic voice that lingers, evoking a bad thought or emotion. Some would call it "Whispers of The Devil", a voice that tell us to do immoral things like stealing, committing violence, lust, laziness, procrastination and the list goes on. It is the kind of things when people know they have done something wrong and then say "oh the Devil made me do it". If we go back right to Adam and Eve (Peace be upon them both), there was an entity that tempted them to eat from the Forbidden Tree. They were fooled by The Devil, just like a snake, pretending to be friends and then he Betrays. In both Judaism and Islam, the narrative is more or less the same. There is this evil force or entity that is absolutely real. The only way is to seek protection. The entire point of this is to highlight that there is a force out there, that whispers and is up to no good. A whisper with the intent to strip the light and plunging them into darkness, like doing drugs, violence, vulgarities, abuse, disobeying commandments and the law, going against the parents and so on. Some songs could be Satanic, and listening to some Music repeatedly could potentially harm the mind and body. So please be careful. That repetition and reaffirmation through songs is one reason why violence and chaos is happening today in this world. I cannot elaborate further. Don't listen to the negative one. He is the enemy, some call him the adversary. Spread Peace, Love, Kindness, Compassion to mother Earth our home, Care for the creatures and spare a thought for the neighbours. That is a form of Light, of positivity and goodness. (But the Negative One brings us futher away from that, it is a Test for us to fight those negative whispers, both internally and externally, both visible or invisible.)

L.D. 50 is a masterpiece and easily Mudvaynes best album. Edit: 10:35 This part of the song is highlighted by Ryan Martine playing a tapping and finger style bass lead and while it's not overly complicated to play, it's a standout part of the Album as a whole. I doubt the band is "bored" or "wanting to be heavy" here. Quite the opposite. Alot of your opinions seem to revolve around the Vocalist. Are you also a Vocalist? 12:45 Yes. This Album is meant to be listened to as a whole. It has alot of "psychedelic" interludes that tie all the songs together. You should Google the meaning of the Album Title. It will make more sense. Long story short your suppose to be high listening to this.👌
