Twenty five years later and the Boxster continues to live on strong! This 718 25th Anniversary edition commemorates 25 years of Boxster history. Powered by a 4.0L flat six developing 395 horsepower this Boxster has the power to match its looks!

Excellent ride and conversation. I think the 986 is probably the underappreciated car that I know of. I bought a one owner extremely nice non S version a few years ago. I paid then what was perhaps a little too much, but the car was so pristine I didn't care. What I thought was just a neat little convertible turned out to be the car that I enjoy the most. I probably over maintain the car, but what an absolute joy to own and drive, I've been blessed to have owned some pretty cool cars, never have any of them bee

As always, a real pleasure listening to your comments in conversation fashion. And yes, the present models are so secure and easy to drive that the risk of loosing the sense of engagement is lurking. Luckily Porsche hasn’t (yet) fallen into this trap. The downside is that if you want to enjoy the soul of the car - this 718 Boxster or a 911, you have to drive it quite hard which means you’ll be speeding over the acceptable legal limit 😅

The next time that somebody complains about a 718 not sounding good, I'll suggest that they tell that to a 356 owner! Anyhow, about Porsche listening to their customers -- yes -- to a degree. They took away the entry level manual transmission because not enough people were buying them. There was a massive up-roar. Porsche listens -- and brings the manual transmission back. As an extra price option!!! The same with the 6-cylinder engine. I'm not angry with Porsche (I doubt I'll ever be able to afford to buy a new one!), and I really respect their marketing acumen. But somehow, at the end of the day, I feel like maybe Porsche buyers got played.

porsche buyers get played, big time, all the time. from the 996 and 991 platforms sharing 90% of all parts with the 986 and 981 platforms (see the relevant video "Porsche DO NOT want you to know this!!! " by jeff richardson) at almost double the price to the fact that the 986 was designed as an affordable, entry level porsche, and the EV boxster/caymans (2025) will be about $35`000 more expensive, and cater to a premier clientele exclusively.

@@donkeyshot8472 I saw that video.. Made me even feel better about my 718 Boxster, now knowing I'm basically driving a 991.2 911 with better engine-gearbox layout for almost half the money.. To bad Porsche is now gonna sacrifice the Cayman/Boxster platrform to meet CO2 regulations making it an EV.. The enthousiast reviews are gonna be "fun" for sure, complaining about the lack of sound, feel and soul.. I really do not see myself drive a EV Porsche roadster, because what's the point if you do not hear and feel anything?!?

The parking brake...blah. I'm old enough to remember and have used the old mechanical T-handle pull style that this switch makes me think of. Was always wrong in my 981 Cayman. Finally, had to make myself think of it as a button to be pushed to apply it. Now I'm only wrong 10% of time. Of course I'm also always trying to push the "phantom clutch" when I have to drive my wife's PDK 981 Boxster, so now that I think about it I'm probably the problem. 🤭

The 25th Anniv edition will shoot up in value in the collector car market eventually. Low production numbers. Visually and strikingly unique looking compared to other 718's of the era. Manual gearbox. 6 cylinder. The best of the Boxster and a great tribute to the original. What more can you ask for. The issue with most modern Porsches is that they all look the same, Base, S, GTS, they all look the same.

As of November 2023, only Porsche and Lotus are making rear mid-engine manual transmission. If there are others, they don't make as much as Porsche and Lotus.

Such sweet throttle blips on the the down shift .......NO !!!!! Electricly managed !! So disappointing ....☹️ Donald , l so looked forward to perfecting this in the day . ....practise made perfect , now you don't even have to try !!!

Do not compare the mid engine Porsches with the Carreras. The Boxster and Caymen are the evolution, true evolution, of the Porsche marque. Starting with the 550 spyder. The Carrera is an evolution of the 356, a compromise, built in a shed from what was at hand.
