Back to Beta - Episode 50: No More Nether Travel

In order to encourage the building of pathways and railways on the Back to Beta server the Nether is now soft banned for use of fast travel. To help the process of traveling long distances, the public minecart station has been revived and big plans for rail way expansion are underway.

Pathways are coooool! It's a shame the glitched nether portal had to go because glitched portals are like rare and a novelty.

Have you tested / considered building piston bolts on your server? They are very fast at 20 bkocks per second vs the normal 8 of a minecart track. The downside is that they are expensive, one directional, and dont work on some servers full speed (like on retromc). Still i think they are super cool when working full speed!

I’ve built them in single player many times however I haven’t even tried on the server just based on my own ping being poor. Wammy another member of the server built one not too long ago and as I expected my ping made it impossible to ride. Maybe one day this will change but it’s what I have to live with for now. But I do love the piston bolt and hopfully one day we can have a working one.

@@BoxBlair yeah that was my experience too, when the server lagged or my ping jumped, the pistons simply leave the minecart behind.

Yo box you should watch jetstarfish’s video on Minecraft’s exploration problem. It’s on modern mc but still some valid points are made. Especially when it comes to Minecarts

I have actually seen it and when it comes to the modern transportation he makes some valid points and ideas. I always lean toward, any change the leads to encouraging infrastructure in the game is likely good. Means you are having the build and be creative while solving an efficiency problem (when it comes to transport)
