This happens a lot in the U.S. at coffee shops. I was a regional sales manager and would always get coffee when traveling. So many digital nomads would set up camp all morning that sometimes you couldn’t find a seat. Even buying one coffee and a pastry does not justify taking up a space for more than a couple of hours.

Hi there Paul, Another great video! I’m happy you mentioned broke Mark Thornton, He is absolutely the worst blogger I’ve ever seen in my life ! He consistently brags and brags and brags about himself and 95% of it is all lies! The dude has no friends in USA. He has no friends period! And is kicked out of Ground Zero ! I actually enjoy watching everyone of your videos. They give lots of very valuable information day. I’ve been going to the Philippines for the last 20 years and is my favorite country to visit 😅 BGC is my main base,,,,,It has everything you may need plus the best hospitals,,,,,,,,keep posting your videos! Places like the Philippines people will do anything to save a nickel. 30 years ago in Vancouver I worked in a place where many Filipinos worked in the kitchen and concession stands for sporting events. In the staff room was a Coke machine for $.25 to save employees some money. I was working late and came into the staff room and an older Filipina lady emptied the machine to take a loaded bag of soda home to save a nickel on each can. No surprise, not too long after they raised the price to $.50. It's like they would fish the last fish out of the sea and not consider the consequences of their actions.

There was free laundry at NAS Jacksonville for RV park and Marina customers only. The machines kept wearing out early. Turns out a Non RV/Marina Filipina had a laundry business charging customers by the pound and would sneak in in the middle of the night. She had been doing this for quite a while and when caught and banned from base for life she insisted she did nothing wrong even though there were signs posted everywhere.

There have been several trike jackings lately in Misamis Oriental where instead of just wearing a mask and taking the trike, they will kill the driver so no witness. Same for accidents. They will sometimes run over and kill the injured motorcyclist so they don't have to pay life long hospital bills and restitution, no witness also. So yeah, urban America isn't an outlier.

Excellent video Paul!!! Today Andy Omar posted a video showing the truth of what happened at the coffee shop between Dexter and Mark Thorton. I was a follower of Mark but after watching the video, and seeing the lies, I have unsubscribed to his channel. But this goes much deeper and really needs to be addressed by the attorneys and authorities in the Philippines. Go back to the beginning when Marks first anger issues surfaced after his interview with you Paul. I found it extremely bizarre at the time how he went from a simple interview to Dr Jeckel to Mr. Hyde. Now fast forward to the ground zero coffee shop fight between Mark and Dexter. Again, you see a man who seems to fly off the handle rather easy but even worse, he seemed to enjoy inflicting pain on Dexter, and it shows in his video he did days later after the fight. When you go back and listen to him describing the fight, he is talking a mile a minute and it shows how much he enjoyed causing the pain. I don't know if it's true or not, but it was brought to my attention Mark had some serious issues of depression in his past. Maybe it's time for one of his friends if he has any to step forward and get him some help. I say this with good intentions!!!

As a business the rates for providing Internet access attract commercial rates. If you want to sit there all day accessing WiFi and buy nothing you can expect pushback from the business owner. Some cafe's in the UK allow 30 minutes free access after which you need to pay for additional time using either a card or a voucher purchased from the till.

Free is never free. Someone has to pay for something if you’re not paying. You might be eating for free, getting free wi-fi, getting a free drink, etc… but it’s not free for whoever is paying. These establishments offer “free” amenities to attract business. If you’re using the “free” amenities and not patronizing their business, you are a freeloader. Even if you buy a coffee and a donut doesn’t mean that you’re entitled to occupy space, using the restroom, and using the wi-if for several hours. These businesses are losing money on you and now they’re taking away these “free amenities” to get rid of you.

I rarely (if ever) use Starbucks in the U.S. and so do many other Americans. For that reason, Starbucks has lost many customers in the U.S. even with free wifi. So if they decided to make wifi unavailable in the Coffee houses in the Philippines, guess what? They are going to lose a lot of business there because the locals don't use Starbucks that often to begin with. Instead of shutting wifi down, what they should had done was make purchases mandatory for use of their premises. That way no business is lost and the wifi would still be available.

All the places I go as in bars and restuarants I still get wifi but then again I am always buying something at these places. I can understand if places say buy something then you can have use of the wifi and I don't blame them as many sit all day taking up space that other customers could use. It is simple don't hog the wifi.
@edexter975 ай бұрын
I had looked up free wifi on Google maps and then went to a coffee shop based on that. My impression is that they would not have many customers at that time a day without that and I bought a coffee there even though I wasn't after service. Starbucks might be able to draw people on quality or something so maybe it's not.a big deal to them. It is possible to get a dual sim phone and use more then one wireless service on the same phone so maybe that would help with the range.

If someone is coming into your business and hanging out and they just don't have any money, I agree that's not something you really want. I like going to a Barnes and Noble book store to see the latest offerings, and almost always purchase books and then go to the cafeteria area to get a drink and dessert or Quiche. I see so many people taking advantage of their wifi. They take up a whole table with their laptop and then read magazines which they have no intention of purchasing, and most of the time, won't bother to put the magazines back when they leave. They might buy a coffee or not. There are many people out there like Mark, but most will at least buy something.
