NOTE: I shot this video with a 12mm lens, so there is a slight bit of horizontal distortion. I ASSURE you, when using two extension rods together, it's as straight as an arrow :P Are you able to find an Elgato Multi Mount anywhere?

No, I had some hopes in Switzerland with Media Markt, but they just wrote that "the supplier has not provided them with an update"... guess I'll be cancelling my order.

I made mine out of 3/4 galvanized pipe and fittings. I added magic arms and it has worked very well for the last 2 years

Thanks so much for making this; I've been really annoyed with the Elgato always being out of stock and I currently have my desk pushed out wayyy to far so I can have a tripod behind it. Gonna order it and give it a go! Great job.

THANK YOU! Been waiting months for Elgato's multi mount to go back in stock. Found the US versions of the extension rod and clamp on Amazon. Appreciate the help!

Hi, thanks for the video! Quick question: can you mount these rods on the Elgato weighted base (I already purchased, thinking I would get the multi mount kit easily!)
@GenkiDerHusky3 жыл бұрын
This mount is interesting. I like the sound quality of your videos. Which microphone do you use in this video? And is there any kind of special audio equipment? It's so good. :)

Thanks a lot. What I don't understand is that you and Amazon say it extends to only 45cm max (and only 2 sections), but at 5:32 you say it's extended to 90cm. It looks great. Could you please confirm which one you bought?
@squidmonkeystudios63233 жыл бұрын
One extends to 45cm. When combining 2 together, it's 90cm

@@squidmonkeystudios6323 ah sorry if you said that you bought 2 in the video and I missed it. I don't recall it. Thanks for replying.

Really great informative video. Any ideas how to grommet mount (1.5-2 inches) the the Elgato master mount? Only solution I can find is w/ the solid base straight from the ground :{

Appreciate this is an old ish video, but Elgato still out of stock. Do you think I could join two of those extension rods together by a ball joint to create what would I guess would be called be an arm?
@squidmonkeystudios63233 жыл бұрын
Yes, this would work. Just make sure the ball joint has the matching threads and you're good to go.
@Wet--Fish3 жыл бұрын
@@squidmonkeystudios6323 Thanks for the super quick reply. I bought another ball joint from UTEBIT in the hope that it all just works together. Might just have made myself a makeshift Multi Mount and Flex Arm. Wouldn't have been possible without your help - thank you.
@gg48gg3 жыл бұрын
@@Wet--Fish how did it work for you? I know smallrig makes some arms also.
@Wet--Fish3 жыл бұрын
@@gg48gg it worked okay, but only when using it without the ball joint. Trying to create a rod (vertical) and an arm (horizontal) with the ball joint in between I found it lacked the rigidity I required to hold a DSLR in the way I wanted. I had to just let the ball joint rest it’s physical edge, giving not quite 90 degree angle. I’ve now got the Elgato ones, and whilst they are undoubtedly better they too struggle if I make the horizontal arm too long. That’s where the fixed arm from elgato was better in my case as it clamps on the rod rather than using a ball joint. I can then use the flex arm to do minor adjustments to angles.
@gg48gg3 жыл бұрын
@@Wet--Fish Thanks for your reply. Yeah, sounds like too much leverage for those joints. Similar to my body, lol.

Hi just watch your video is great, one question do know any alternative if I can’t use the clamp, like elgato heavyweight so I can put it on the table, any suggestions much appreciated. Thank you.
@squidmonkeystudios63233 жыл бұрын
Any base that has a 1/4 thread should be fine. I don't know of anything specific though :(
@hm87724 жыл бұрын
Is it possible to mount the Elgato flexible arm kit on this one or any ther solution? I want to film the table or a piece of paper, in other words, I want to direct the camera downward and film the desk surface.
@squidmonkeystudios63234 жыл бұрын
As far as I can tell, no. The elgato flex arm kit requires the elgato multi mount specifically. This is because the ball head mounts are only compatible with each other. Instead of the flex arm kit, you can rig up alternatives like the "magic arm" kits to use with what is in the video.
@JayfkProductions8763 жыл бұрын
This would be cool if it could go horizontal can it?
@squidmonkeystudios63233 жыл бұрын
Yes... just put a ball head mount on the bottom :)

I expect someone will finally say that anything that goes on the table without shockmount is a shitty setup. Any vibration from the table goes directly onto the camera. Most of the optical stabilization methods are tuned for handheld, not shocks. And if you'll try to remove shocks via editing software, you'll get blur. This setup is ok for mic with shockmount or lights. But not for the camera. As for the camera solution, I'm thinking about mounting it on a wall or on a ceiling. I wish I'll have concrete walls someday...
