You may want to reach out to others such as Demi O,Yetunde Vlogs, The Returnees, Y.agazie and also S.isi Yemm.ie I think connections are built differently and friendships mean something else to Nigerians in Nigeria so get to know people who's idea of friendship is closer to yours.Nigeria is literally a different world.

I feel you about having the friends you made in Nigeria move abroad when you want to go back. I spent my middle school years (3yrs) in Nigeria and all the friends I made have moved somewhere ... apart from those 3 years In Nigeria I was born and raised in Canada. Because of that, I notice that sometimes it's hard to relate with others given the fact I had grown up mostly I n Canada, however I really want to fit in. But it feel likes I never really fit into either country--Canada or Nigeria.

Yeah, it can be difficult to adjust but once you find people you gel with, it makes things easier. I always say its better to have a handful of really great friends than a crowd of mediocre ones. I hope things are getting better for you.

I feel you on that... in diaspora, they say that you're not like us, and in Naija, they notice the blended accent and they begin to act funny. Essentially, you're in limbo, trapped between two worlds. It's not easy at all... only people like us who have been through it can understand...

Thank you for sharing your experience Queen...i am looking to move to either Ghana, Nigeria or S. Africa and i'm looking at several videos to help me make the best decision for me. Just wanted to say i appreciate the honesty!!

Thank you for watching this video! I hope you found it helpful. I think its great that you are watching videos to learn about other people's experiences living in the countries you are interested in moving to. I would also suggest that you try to visit those places, if possible, as often as you can so that you can get a good sense of how you may adjust. But to be frank, you will only truly know if a country/place is a good fit once you move there. I wish you the best of luck on your journey!!

Thx! It's funny that ppl tell me to visit first but I'm like what will a visit do? I won't be any closer to knowing if I can live there or not...so yes you are right... you only know if you do it... As someone trying to make the move from the states, what would you recommend as the best approach towards finding employment? How does education transfer to Africa? For example I have 3 degrees (2 Master's) from universities here that are recognized in the top 30 nationally...but what does that mean in Africa? If my experience is corporate America, how does that translate...just trying to understand what types of jobs I should be looking into or if i should use a recruiter...thx for your feedback in advance!!

Hey there!! Catching up real late on your videos but really enjoying them as you do make sense! Can really empathize with your feeling about friendship here in Lagos. However I like to be super positive and always look forward to be friends with like minded people being an expat myself. I also believe ones wealth is measured in how many friends they have! Hope you're doing better by now! Cheers 👍🏼

I totally get you with the friends aspect especially with not being able to totally relate to their experiences growing up in nigeria and some who don't understand me lol and think I'm "forming". I was in nigeria for nysc and work experience a couple of years ago and this year also (born and raised in the UK) I'm planning to relocate in soonish Probably we can meet up? I think you should think of doing a meet and greet with people who've moved to Nigeria.

Lol @ "forming". Yeah, it takes some adjusting. A meet up is actually a great suggestion! I'm actually going to look into having one and let you know!

I agree that Nigerian ladies are harder to speak to and to form close bonds with. Men are easy to speak to , it’s really hard I’m general. I appreciate your videos!

I do have family here. I mentioned it in the video. I love hanging out with my family, but its nice to have great friends too. Right now, I have a great circle of friends, but I think forming friendships in a new place is always a bit challenging.

Also blogger Brownie Diaries.....many Nigerian women just see you as competition first off....you don't need those friends. I spent a month in Abuja knowing noone but I came away with some 'friends'. You may have to not compare with the USA it's just not that. In time you'll grow quality friends.

Thanks for your great suggestions! I do have a great circle of friends here, but I just wanted to share my experiences with you guys. I do think you are right about not comparing people here with people in the US because it is unfair. Thank you for watching this video, I really appreciate it!

A lot of people like to feel like they are "superior" or "have standards" so them not approaching or not accepting people gives them or makes them feel a sense of "selfworth", sort of. I see that as a big sign of low self esteem. And they only select to associate with people who display visible signs of wealth or richness, or people who are from wealthy families. Everything too money seeking minded, or "class" minded. I wonder if it is poverty or lack of education that created or reinforced that mentality and attitude. It needs to stop. People miss out of living life fully and richly by that attitude. But i guess they don't even care. Which actually then makes it even harder to combat that mentality.

Thank you for that bit of knowledge. As an African American I am very friendly and out going and it looks as if Lagos might not be the move for me. Though I will definitely visit once I'm on the continent.

Thank you for watching. I just wanted to clarify that people here do accept friendly and outgoing people but at times they can be cautious with new people. I think it's great that you plan on visiting so you can experience things for yourself.

This approachable thing is very important to me, because I can't stand the pretentious stuck up types. I am too warm hearted and open for that. I noticed a few years ago when I was there, I'm the kind who says hello on the street to strangers, hotel personnel etc But I often got brushed off. I like the excitement that Nigeria brings, but it may be better to choose Ghana for me.

Making friends with the typical Nigerian girl that is not your childhood friend can be as hard as hell, The truth is , they see you as a competitor to them and again the lack of knowledge and important of friendship, many women are lonely because no true friendship, some people even take advantage of your kindness or friend to them.

You can build a network or returnees. Their blogs are all over KZbin. Also I would strongly suggest joining www.internations.org. What you want is quality over quantity and like minded people.

Oh yes, about being looked down on for being friendly?? I experienced that and it was so horrible. Repeatedly. My sisters warn me every time we go out not to talk to strangers cos people here are completely unfriendly. It wasn't that way before I left in 2004. There was no FB and no Instagram and people were friendly and you could walk up to guys and have a chat without them thinking you wanted them to marry you.
