I was born in America and am African American but I identify as an African woman. When I visited Burkina Faso, I fell in love with everything you mentioned, the people, the food, the culture. And, while I was waiting in an office to pick up some tickets, a lady approached me and just started doing my hair. It was so lovely, it felt like family. Then, when I went to another office, there was a tailor dropping off clothes to the secretaries, so I got his number and he came to my hotel and made me a whole wardrobe of clothes in a few days at unbelievably reasonable prices. Also, the food as delicious, especially the Poulet Yassa. And, the fruit was the freshest I've ever had. I've been longing to move to Africa ever sense and that time is getting closer. Although I have taken an Igbo name, Amaechina Anyanwu, and I love all things Naija, I'll probably be moving to Senegal, b/c I don't know if I can handle the intense energy of Nigeria b/c I have a disability. I will visit though b/c I love equsi, moi moi, akara, etc. Thanks for you video. I totally get it.

Hey Amaechina, thank you for watching this video and sharing your story. I am glad you had an amazing time in Burkina Faso! I've always wanted to go there but haven't had the opportunity. Senegal is a lovely country and the people are very friendly. I hope your move there is a success! Do you plan on moving this year?

Awwww, so glad to read from you. I am so delighted with your amazing connection with your motherland. Particularly very excited with your new name. I am an Igbo and sister right here and live in New Jersey U.S . I will like to connect with you to share more of our Igbo culture and tradition. I am on Facebook- Chukwu gozie gi Amachina nwannem nwanyi- Translation- God bless you Amaechina my sister. That was in Igbo dialect.

Nigerians do not like akatas (throw away people, people who are descendants of slaves) . Do your research before considering...it's not a good option. Senegal or Gambia is a much better option. The people are beautiful and very lovely in character.

Beautiful video, I came back from Nigeria, 2weeks ago with my family, we were there for 3month, NOVEMBER TO FEBRUARY. it was wonderful, and we really enjoyed it. Everything you said about Living in Nigeria is 100%true. I am missing NIGERIA already. With this cold weather in CANADA. I can't wilt to go back again. I will be moving to NIGERIA. My plan is be in Nigeria 6month, during the winter, and come back to CANADA during summer. That is my plan. The truth is, to live in Nigeria very comfortable, you need to have a House of your own, a Car of your own, and your up to date document. NIGERIA is a lovely country Full of Fun and life.

Dolly, welcome back to Canada. Lol, I guess your demeanor changed right in the airport, when those wind chill slapped your face😂 I have gotten so tired of North America to the point unbearable irritation, especially In the new Trump Amerikka. Sometimes, I feel I can close my eyes and get situated in Nigeria overnight. I want to move back as soon as tomorrow. But the things you mention like buying property And having substantial amount in the Bank for back up is a huge financial challenge and a draw back for most of us wishing to move back home.

I miss naija too can't wait to return someday.Someday, because l really desire a change in the way nigeria is govern.Someday, because the road infrastructure is lacking.l would love to travel and visit other parts of nigeria by road,on a bike, not flying everywhere.l miss naija for everything you mentioned in this video. After spending so long in england,l just think there is something about home and we nigerians that's missing with the rest of the world...The doctor had to put me on vitamin D tablet for not getting enough sunshine here. And that got me thinking, back home nobody even thinks about the sun or the weather cos it's always sunny anyways.Even when it's rainning it's still sunny.😀😁l'm from the south but l love the ldea of living in the middlebelt, central nigeria for it beauty and natural charms.l hope they find lasting solution to the farmers herdsmen clash for good. l hope l make it back someday. Thanks for sharing.

I'm in the same boat. VD is in the toilet d/t lack of adequate sunshine in the west. Even if you work day shift, it's often indoors or too cold, so you barely expose 20% of your body. You begin to lack energy/drag and you could quickly become depressed and feel like a zombie who is just trying to get by... The fatigue/lack of energy that comes with it can be so disabling among others... There is nothing like home. I have been in the west for more than 2 decades and I'd like to get back to Naija once in a while as I haven't since I've been here...

For the mere fact that you said positive things about our country, I subscribed before even watching. There are many whose stock in trade is to run Nigeria under the bus at any given opportunity. You sister are breath of fresh air. There is no country that is great today that did not go through hardship at some point in their history, Nigeria is no exception, things were hard but the people put in the hard work to make those countries what they are today, we cannot all not just be fault finders while not contributing nothing towards the development of our country.

Thank you so much for the video, gorgeous lady. They're very insightful encouraging and inspiring. I am 52 and at the point of retiring to Nigeria. I want to hit home earlier than normal retirement age in order to have the energy to re-establish myself in the country . However, I am a Masters level licenced counselor in the U.S and I want to practice my profession in Nigeria nothing more. Unfortunately, I can't do business in this age and has never in my life. Not sure if there's any possibility in this area especially when our people obtain their " counseling" from their pastors even though- that's spiritual guidance and no counseling. Could you please help me understand the progression of mental health treatment in Nigeria. Thanks dear.

As a non-African: stellar arts, cultural diversity, opportunities to be heard and create consciousness around issues of sustainability, spiritual orientation, cheaper prices for things that would cost way more in the West, the weather, and opportunities to train in performing art forms professionally, academically or informally (as Nigerians are highly articulate and have an appreciation for zesty interactions).

Pay no attention to anyone especially those living back home. They have no idea what life in the West look like for us- My response to that discouraging rhetoric is- if you can survive in Nigeria why wouldn't I? Again, the country is not doing badly, Nigerians are all about fake life- living above their means. They should be able to Seperate economy and the financial consequences of the lifestyle they choose.

In returning back to Naija form the Diaspora very soon, there are endless opportunities in Naija like you rightly said to build and engage in numerous business ventures. It isn't as hard, if you have the capital, to begin a business back in the motherland, but in the US/UK, you have to go through endless hurdles and they tax you to oblivion, and the bills are endless (water; trash; natural gas; electric/power; insurances for health, vehicle, housing, etc; taxes; more taxes; even more taxes; fines; even more fines; late fees; other fees; more bills; even more bills, etc lol). Yes, things can be rough in Naija, but with the right mentality and a plan, the sky's the limit. My main reason to return permanently, is not only for business and to help my country grow, but also to potentially find a befitting mate or mates, 1-3 or more wives, etc. It is better to be a part of the solution and create jobs rather than complain about our corrupt politicians, etc. It will take the youth to rebuild and propel the country to greater heights. I believe that I have a much HIGHER calling, which is partly why I chose to remain single. MGTOW for life!

Nigeria has three embassies in the U.S- NYC, which is located in second avenue next to UN Headquarters in Manhattan. The others are Washington DC and Atlanta. You will get your passport on any of these three locations. I recommend you Google to get their phone numbers to find out the documents you needed for proof of citizenship. And I believe you apply online and they confirm your application with a date of interview. In Nigeria constitution, you are automatically a citizen if both or one of your parent is a Nigerian. So, you might need documents from your parents most likely their Nigerian passport even if if they're expired. You're good to go. I love your thoughts and I am trying to get my 19 year old son back home to get used to living in Nigeria. America is becoming crazier by the day.
