Range doesn't matter. What it can do when loaded does. When you see videos of a F150 towing something getting barely 100 miles range, it's a total disaster. You simply can't expect people who work for a living to stop for 1-2 hours to charge up every 80-100 miles when they are making money/on the job.
@raphaelrodrigues1645 Жыл бұрын
1-2 hours of charging time is only a thing on VERY long trips. The F150 Lightning won't take more than 30 minutes to fully charge on a fast charger. In this time frame you can grab a snack, go to the bathroom, and do other things. Also, the majority of truck buyers use their trucks as a sedan, so, not a big problem. For the people that really use the truck as a truck, Ford Offers the Hybrid F150.
@SunnyIceberg Жыл бұрын
You won’t find a fast charger in 99% percent of areas within 1-2 hours at least. The hybrid also Carries all the downsides of both gas and electric so why get it instead of a pure gas truck as a work truck which they mostly are. Technological upkeep and lower range than the gas since you need to recharge the truck. Hybrids also have a lot higher up keep these cars go down to 30k within a year and up keep you can do yourself it cost you less time that it would take to book an appointment and wait for your truck and drive to the mechanic who has the technology. If you know anything about the world and aren’t super rich you’ll never pick a hybrid or electric car
@raphaelrodrigues1645 Жыл бұрын
@SunnyIceberg well, hybrids also combine all the good things from both electric and gas, and you don't actually NEED to charge a hybrid, since it will charge itself by using the energy you usually waste, like when braking and going downhill. Also, almost all modern vehicles are a PITA to fix, requiring special equipment and lots of training and skill. And Hybrids usually are not a lot harder ou more expensive to maintain than a moder diesel pickup truck. Now that Tesla is probably going to open their charging network to any other plug-in vehicle with CCS charger capability, there will be a lot of places to reliably charge your electric truck. And you can also charge it at home overnight, so every day you can wake up with a "full tank".

I’m no EV fan because my own personal feelings are that EV’s estimated range does not live up to estimations in real life scenarios. I feel these EVs are actually worse for the environment but with this said I love the way the Ram Revolution looks and hope most the design elements make it into production. I’m an old school V8 natural aspirated engine fan with fast vehicles like my 2023 C8 and my 2022 Jaguar F Pace SVR but damn what a great looking truck. One huge gripe with these EV’s is the “estimated” range which we all know in real life situations they don’t come close especially hot or cool weather. Electrifying America isn’t up to speed with most EV reviews making this a huge issue due to possibly being stranded. I appreciate Scotty’s truth telling on how all these early buyers are true Guinea pigs testing out the faults. I prefer my petrol fast throaty V8’s that truly cause less damage to the environment. Way to tell the truth @Scotty Kilmer keep it up brother.

As always, these videos are well-presented and informative. I have no intention of buying an EV ever, but with all the "Cool" features this one has, no physical buttons would rule it out before I even started to look at one. The thought of having to take your eyes off the road to make any adjustment is super dangerous. (OK these cars will have all sorts of collision control systems, but eyes on the road are essential).

I know you said it was okay to have One monitor on the SMOG test not ready but the evaporative thing on the gas tank was not ready. I have also encountered temporary codes that did not light up the indicator. I am also very careful to allow the EVAP test to complete before opening the door if I am working in the car. Do you think this is a problem that will go away on it’s own or is it worth spending money on?

I'm happy with my 2019 Ram etorque and I'm keeping it until the wheels fall off. This truck will probably cost over 100 K. I'm not sold on these EVs. Also if this breaks down, be ready to shell out some cash.. If I purchase a new vehicle it going to be a Toyota, they arent caught on this Ev craze..

Was at the Chicago Auto Show for the first time in 3 plus years. All major showcased vehicles were EV or hybrid. Very few standards. No Mazda, land rover, range rover, Porsche, Volvo, Mercedes. There were so many brands missing.
@bentullett6068 Жыл бұрын
Land Rover/Jaguar only have one EV model which is the I-pace, but I don't think they want to go down the plug in battery route because they know that their market here in the UK is mostly wealthy people who live countryside who require a towing vehicle to bring their horses out to a event. Mazda are trying to do what Toyota are doing and keep a open mind on the market as they only have one EV. Volvo have EV's but here in the UK I see more hybrid versions than full EV and their only full EV brand is Polestar which by the sounds of things keep having software malfunctions after a recent update. Mercedes currently have EV's but still its a niche market and you still see more conventional internal combustion cars and hybrids sold in the UK currently. Porsche don't want to go full EV either with their brand as they know customers like the Porsche 911 and the other internal combustion engine cars they produce and the EV Taycan is just a niche car.

Hi Scotty. I want to ask you a question. I slightly bent crossmember beam while jacking up my vehicle. Can I still drive it? The jacking point caved in instead of sticking out.
@thethugpoet2009 Жыл бұрын
Driving with a bad crossmember for a prolonged period of time may result in poor wheel alignment, suspension damage, frame damage, and more.
@thethugpoet2009 Жыл бұрын
So the short answer is yes but wouldn't do it long term... depending on how bent is bent slightly. It could cause any of those problems

Dodge Truck is the only one that has rear coil springs instead of leaf springs, so it is always going to ride better for this reason. It may not haul quite as much..
