My grandma made all my costumes, so we never had these conversations! But we had no money. We grew food, hunted and fished for food. We ate like kings. Us kids didn't even know we were poor until we got into those grades in school where "trendy" clothes were the most important. I continued to wear the clothes my grandma made me until I graduated from high school!!! I will never complain about that!!

Best way to me, I loved watching my mom make our clothes and they were uniquely made and nobody else had em, even had way more than enough food when we had a garden we sold stuff and gave away stuff at church and still had a lot Of food, I loved hunting. My siblings were focused on name brand clothes due to the friends they had but I was a loner, I never cared about that especially having a wardrobe full of clothes made to my measurements. We saved a lotta money and it taught me about self preservation, I make clothes now for my girls and even recycling my clothes i can't fit anymore and make them something out of it. I wish this generation would overlook trying to impress society and embrace the things the older generation had to do to make ends meet

I worked at McDonald’s in 1971. I was one of the first women they ever hired because they only hired guys before that. They had tablets that had all of their things listed on it and when people gave you their order you wrote how many of each thing they wanted. And then you had to add it up in front of them. If someone had a big order they would turn their head and look at the pad kind of over your shoulder to make sure you didn’t make a mistake. You could get a hamburger, A small fry and a small drink and still get change from a Dollar. One fillet O fish came out, It was $.40

@C L @Michael Hartman makes a valid point. How did you calculate the minimum wage comparison? I'm not saying it can't be accurate, just interested in what factors in to the math for arriving at such an imbalanced figure... Extrapolating hourly minimum wage alone does not account for the differences in inflation, taxes or interest rates. For example: Prime interest rates for mortgage loans in mid/late '70s was in the high teens. I wonder what the relative portion or percentage of the average American household budget spending on cost of food vs housing vs medical care, technology, etc.?
@SolomonSunder
@SolomonSunder 3 жыл бұрын
@@MrRinopolis As an Indian who moved to Europe, I'd prefer high interest rates with shorter periods (15 years is usually the maximum in India). Here 30 years seems the norm and people even seem to take 40 year loans. That is simply insane. The older generation here seems to not have paid for 30 years either.

As a food retail worker, I feel like a) dating your own manager is a dangerous idea and I respect you intensely for it, and b) you were way too nice if she asked you to pick up the check. If I heard "You're not picking up the check?" my first thought would be "b*tch, pay me" and I don't think that is an unfair thing to say.

I would argue that the 399 dislikes were women (or men, I guess) disappointed in the fact that he was married... They must have a sense of humor for clicking to begin with...well...not "must"--but likely... Additionally, no, they were women, as men don't normally get fair results in divorce proceedings... Truly, hilarious comedian though. Felt short for a set which is a good sign of comedic competence.
