Good timing. Last weekend i lost to my 8 year old granddaughter at the game of Life. She beat me last time she stayed the night too. She asked me “grandpa, have you always been this bad at Life?” After laughing my answer was yes.

Life is a game? I’ll have to reassess. Funny stories. My Grand-children beat me at Hiding. It takes ages for me to find them in the house. I didn’t know there are different rules. They are allowed to sneak to different hiding places that you’ve already looked for them. It takes ages to finish searching each room of good spots but they’ve gone back into that same room while I was searching the room next door. So long.😂👏🏼

The willful ignorance of what should have been obvious with the albeit unintentional, but nevertheless equally as damaging disingenuounizing of words in this thread is slightly disconcerting to say the absolute least. And not only because it represents 66% of the replies here (prior to my retort), but namely the juxtaposed fact that it also represents the initial 66% of comments as well. Which tells me people are for no apparent reason that I can think other than to superficially feel "cool and/or smart" by portraying assumptions as if they were literal factual statements as opposed to simple fact checking and learning how to use extreme dictation correctly. I really don't get it, and it's not OK in my opinion. Absolute sayings such as "GOAT," "No one better," "unmatched, and my least favorite "so underrated" have become so prevalent in comment sections nowadays they can mean little more than "like my comment" anymore. The two before me likely agree with my concerns, but this isn't for them anyways. Let me break it down for the 66% now. Holly: You have absolutely no excuse in my opinion to not have at least used a search engine to get what you obviously don't want all that much. It'd taken less time to have read the title several times over AND Googled it. That's wilful ignorance at its core. And it's a personal degradation of language at the very least. How you might ask? If you honestly ment that statement you'd have never posted in the first place. Sorry I'm not "nice" about, but I believe this has to be chastised in order for it to stop. You're only fooling the equally gullible, 241 plus 3 as it stands, along with yourself I'd add. You're ok postng such an easily debunked assumption instead of looking it up yourself? Put into simple context you're statement refuted itself by proving you had no interest whatsoever in anything beyond virtual kudos from people you'll never actually meet. In fact I'd be willing to bet this still remains the only clip from the very "Special" you claim he "Needs" badly. That's not to say you can't start practicing what you actually mean more. Jim: Unless you cried for your own lackluster vocabulary as exemplified as an omitted part of the saying "I laughed so hard I cried," I call BS. Until pretty recently I had never heard that phrase without the indication of it being induced by laughter. I'll admit I am stretching a bit for that one, so it's the least egregious as I fully understood you. It's just that omitting words from cliche sayings give non-English speakers the most trouble. They are likely picturing you crying for no apparent reason. You've omitted the most descriptive word which also happens to be the indicator of it's status as a non-literal. I got your intentions sure, but ask yourself who's the omitting really for. To save you time, making it purely selfish, or are you actually presenting us with a good revision of that expression? My opinion is quite clear, I'd just like even one good reason from you for leaving out the only intuitive verb. Personally I don't think adding to the inherent confusion of non-literal sayings as a way to save yourself time is worth losing their true meaning over time as a price. Mary: I'd like to think that I shouldn't have to explain how simply being funny for a few minutes is far from the actual qualifications needed to make your own movie. If that's all that was required to make a successful movie practically anyone could do it. But that's not the case though, is it? Not saying he couldn't make a movie if he wanted because I don't know that he couldn't, but that's a bit of a stretch based only on the fact that he's funny to you and others. OK, he's funny and that's a good start. Movies also require full scripts with character narration, scene setting dictation with clear beginnings and ending, noting of non apparent intentions, estimated filming costs, etc etc. I'm no film school graduate by any means, but even I can name things producers would expect before even considering a dry read, let alone actually financially backing it. I mean come on, do you honestly think making a movie is as simple as stringing together 30 minutes of comedic material? Snoep: So if I'm to take your statement seriously at all, you'd have me believe that being funny is all anyone needs to earn a statue dedication of their likeness? Not that I'd be against tha as much as do appreciate what comedy is as a whole, the only way I could back that is if beforehand people such as doctors, nurses, scientists, engineers, firemen, and so many others contribute way more to our societal benefit. And yes I am fully aware that likely barking up the wrong trees because this is WAY more of a systematic problem that stems from people's desire to be liked coupled with the modern worlds infatuation with time saving as more important than actual content. I'll be inevitably met with "I ain't reading an essay" and "shut up nerd" esk replies. Doesn't bother me personally though because I'd argue what good would I have accomplished watching cats play and idiots traveling to Destination Fucked instead of pointing out how social media platforms are tricking people into thinking exaggerated entertainment and 100% meaningless virtual "hearts and likes" are more valuable than knowledge and and a true individual personality. Who's really using their time to the fullest here? Another rhetorical btw...

@Ghost Hannibal Mortem couldn't have said it better myself. Because many counselors and academic departments can't be bothered to do their due diligence on the wide array of careers people can choose from (including those interchangeable between majors/fields), many students either have to figure their careers out largely on their own, or, if they're fortunate, through assistance from a solid university career center. I was fortunate my grad school is essentially a pipeline to the government because of its reputation and proximity to the DC area where I now live.
