Ecoflow power stream , Just trying to get to net zero. With product that does nor need MCD , tenants could move house and take camping set up with them. Octopus still MCS or Flexiorb only to get SEG

Ofgem SEG guidelines confirms it's not government insisting on all the MCS certificates. Greg Jacksons choice. 1.14. If you are unable to demonstrate that your installation is suitably certified, a SEG licensee is not obliged to offer payments under the SEG, but they can make payments if they wish.

Hi, just a quick comment to let you know - I watched this video and another one about solar and battery where you mentioned iVoltz covers installs across the country/whole UK, but when I contacted them to ask for a quote (using your reference code too), they replied to say that Sussex in the SE of England is outside of their geographic install area. Just thought you should know 👍

Hi Phil - thanks for letting me know. I suspect with increasing workload and prioritising efficiency a decision was made to look at each job on a specific basis and see if it is something they could do. Thanks for taking the time to let me know. All the best, Shan

If you are reliant on special tariffs (which may come and go) for your battery benefit calcs, you should really be making your cost comparisons against the best tariffs that are available at present, eg Octopus tracker. This would greatly reduce the savings made and is a much more realistic comparison. You should also assess the cost of capital and the gains you could expect to make on the capital if you don't buy a battery.

Hi - Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment on this video. But other tariffs such as octopus Go are here at present. I suspect these tariffs will be here for a number of years as even in the energy crisis when they were losing money on these tariffs they still remained. No one has a 🔮 but we can aim to forecast the numbers.

@@everythinghome You're missing the point. Yes, these tariffs are here. There are also tariffs here such as Tracker and Agile that apply to non-PV non-Battery systems, and are MUCH cheaper than standard tariff. Tracker is about 25% cheaper than fixed or standard variable, and for me even without load shifting my normal usage is about 5% cheaper again on Agile. The point is you should be comparing Octopus Go etc to the best of the tariffs to fairly account for >just< the benefit from timeshifting with the battery. Otherwise your comparison is pretty unfair, because a large portion of those savings were available to the user without having to get a battery, and it paints an unreasonably positive spin on battery-only. When you do that, and also factor cost of capital for the battery over the lifetime, it makes a very poor case for battery only systems.

@jfinnie78 I think that's a valid point, thanks 👍🏽

Very good video, didn't know they had dropped the vat on battery's which is good to know. Definitely got me wondering, maybe this year is the year. I've been sitting on the fence for about 3 years😂

Hi Adam - hope you're well buddy. Thanks 👍🏽 yes definitely a welcome change. Haha, with the recent reduction in the electricity tariffs due in April this does push payback further back 😒

I'm really gutted that Giv Energy don't have a bigger inverter. Ideally I'd like a 5kw inverter, so I can charge from grid at 5kw and also draw to the house at 5kw... I love Giv energy have a full DOD and even better the 12 year guarantee but the inverter is the deal breaker. I would really like the same make inverter and batteries and I know giv energy work fully with Octopus.

Hi Adam - they do have a 5 KW AC inverter via the All In One - givenergy.co.uk/products/all-in-one/
@swast4
@swast4 5 ай бұрын
The problem is, I presume it is 5kw combined solar and ac. It will still prob on charge at 3.6kw and give back to the house at 3.6kw
@everythinghome
@everythinghome 5 ай бұрын
@swast4 from my understanding it's higher than the standard 3.6 KW hence the appeal as before there was no AC coupled option higher than 3.6 KW as you say midsummerwholesale.co.uk/pdfs/uk-datasheet-all-in-one.pdf

I use 20KWH before taking into account my electric car charging costs. and have Octopus Intelligent Go. Do you think a battery would be worth it, could I charge it up on the Intelligent Go and which battery would you recommend with approx cost? Thanks, you seem an expert so I thought you could answer. It seems I would need a 24 KWH battery? My car charges at night for 7.5 pence so that is covered it is more the 20KWH I am using throughout every day. I can't see the point if payback is 10 years, but could be with 5 years.

Hi - Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment on this video. Have a look at the section on the financials via the timestamps in the description and try to estimate your numbers. Ultimately, only you can decide if it's worth the initial outlay.
