On one hand it makes a tinge of sense because how exactly do you reasonably prove you’re qualified to copystrike someone without a doubt. But on the second fucking hand what the fuck, I think the least bit of resistance is actually requiring people to copy strike from their verified account to avoid harassment. KZbin claims to be anti harassment but yet they allow literally anyone to commit basically the worst form of harassment. Makes so little sense because surely KZbin spends boatloads righting their own wrongs

Yes, KZbin needs to allow IP holders to easily copyright strike or DMCA takedown videos to avoid not meeting the standards of section 230 of the digital communications act on platform holders and liability. The problem people are pointing out is that KZbin does nothing to actually verify the party using their tools is the valid IP holder nor do they punish people who falsely issue takedowns. If it's egregious and pointed out to them KZbin might slap the offending party with a warning or in even rarer cases just ignore any cases filed by that entity but nothing stops bad actors from simply filing strikes under new names.

After all these years you'd think people would learn that abusing the copyright system just isn't cool. I mean, even back in the early days of KZbin it was a bad look for people. A prime example would be when famous children's author/YTP-generator Michael Rosen was flagging numerous YTP videos of him, and the whole KZbin community went from loving to hating him.
