No way! I saw a video of you climbing the Eaglet last fall and it sparked my interest in climbing. Then after many months of training and lots of expensive gear, I finally climbed it with one of my best friends last Saturday it was my first time leading a multi pitch trad route and my second trad climb ever. I would highly recommend going up the right arete at the top of the third pitch the exposure was fantastic. I’m so thankful for all the wonderful people that this sport has introduced me to and I can’t believe it all started from watching you climb the eaglet. Thanks for all the content and inspiration Noah!

You are right, At some point in lead climbing you have to take yourself outta the pan and into the fire and do the set. It definitely takes courage to do it. But, with all of you there it had to feel epic for Bond to do it and have that support to guide the way up 👏👏. Was amazing to watch 🎉

so I did this sometime in the early 90s, but I could swear we came up from the other side of the notch. we just had underhill spire pic and nothing really in the way of a guidebook. trail was adventurous IIRC, but it was cloudy and we couldn't see spire from notch. maybe 1 long pitch and 1 short to the top. don't remember any bolts/pitons other than maybe at the summit. I think the climb was rated maybe 5.6 at the time and looked intimidating from base, but it was really just stepping up on a couple ledges on the spire. our standard rack was a set of nuts and 3x gen1 camalots. probably placed 2 of them & slung a bunch of trees. i thought it was about 20% of a cannon route and too much technical dirt and too little climbing. but we may have been completely offroute! whole route was licheny and looked seldom done at the time. from your drone shots, looks like there might be a lot of quality climbing on the wall behind it.

I feel like if you have only 7 friends those are all actual friends, and the fact they all joined you speaks volumes. People have 20-30 "friends" these days but would struggle to get one of them on a mission like this. Cherish that, its rare.

I hate to be that person, but safety needs to be talked about. But the handling of the GriGris as at minute 7:18 is grossly negligent. No brake hand, the hand completely encloses the Grigri and thus completely suspends the safety mechanisms. And honestly, there is simply no reason not to use the belay device as intended. I fully agree with you that sometimes you have to consciously take risks, especially when climbing to experience beautiful things. But this situation, it is an unnecessary risk. Except on that: Really stunning mate. Love this climb.
@NoahKane

Thanks for the comment Calvin. She hadn’t even clipped anything in at that point so just pulling slack through is all that’s needed not like a hand on the brake strand is gonna do much

7 people on top of a spire, someone who hasn’t touched a cam before leading the last of a 3 pitch route 200ft off the deck, and bro at 7:40 giving her so much the leader so much slack defeating the purpose of even having them in the grigri….this kind of dumb shit is why there are AAC accident reports.
