With this the operational km in kolkata shall be 38 km, after delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore..on completion of east west, kolkata metro will be 3rd largest after Delhi and Hyderabad...and with the completion of line-6 airport-garia, kolkata metro will be second largest after Delhi.

By 2024, Kolkata will surpass both Bangalore and Hyderabad in terms of metro system length.

Work is progressing at brisk pace, probably middle of next year entire east west metro is going to be operational from saltlake sector 5 to howrah maidan. In 2023 noapara-airport section of line 4, joka-taratala section of line 3 and new garia to ruby section of line 6 is expected to be operational. With these above mentioned stretches the system length of Kolkata metro is expected to be 65-66 km.

I am a resident of Behala. Line 3's current pace of work is very satisfactory from past one month. With the current pace, the line from joka to majherhat is expected to be commissioned by december 2023.
