Same here! I’m the man I am today because of my father. That man got up at 5 every morning, took 2 trains to the city for 45 years to the same company, working his way up from the mailroom to big dog status. All while, with help, raising 2 wild 80’s babies. He was my scout master, baseball coach, watched my sister cheerlead, run track and become a great parent herself. Can’t rep or thank him enough.

I absolutely loved my dad. He was strict and difficult to communicate with growing up. However, my dad always had my back with everyone else, he taught his kids to stick together and I always felt protected and loved. He put his 5 kids in private school off of a carpenter's wage in the 80s/90s. At age 53, he was diagnosed with dementia. I cared for him for 12 years while he was ill. My dad passed last year. I miss you best friend 😔 If your dad is still here, appreciate him .

I think its just because rejection was accepted as part of life back in the day. You knew you were gonna be a loser sometimes and that was fine. Now everybody feels like they have to be winner all the time and they feel like their whole life is falling apart from the smallest failure. I think he's right for blaming the parents. If you parents told you that you were perfect and deserve the world and everybody should love you and kiss your ass its gonna shatter you when you go into the real world and realise none of that was true.

I had an art teacher who talked to me crazy in 7th grade. She was out and we had a sub. I left my table to go get some supply, and my boy was hitting me on the butt with a ruler as I walked across the room. Finally, I turned around and grabbed the ruler. Just then, the sub looked up, and she wrote down both of our names. The art teacher came back and gave us both detention. My friend told her that I didn't do anything, and we both told her what actually happened. She went off on me for like 5 minutes in the hallway, telling me that I wasn't as special as I thought I was. It was crazy - she didn't lecture my friend (a white kid) at all. To me, it came out of nowhere because I never misbehaved in her class and I was a good student who ended up with a straight A average for the year. At first, I thought she went at me because I was black and in the gifted program and she was unhappy being a middle school art teacher. But now I wonder if it was also related to my parents and another black couple organizing the black parents, making a formal complaint about racial discrimination at the high school, and getting the NAACP involved. There was retaliation against me and the younger son of the other couple who organized the parents, who was in my grade. There was a "clerical error," and I didn't get credit for my straight A average until it was corrected over summer break. And I didn't even get invited to the year end awards banquet. Even with the "clerical error," I would've had one of the highest GPA's. And then in 8th grade, the younger son and I were both benched the entire football season because "we missed the first week of practice and it wouldn't be fair to the other players to let us play." We missed one day of handing out equipment and two days of running around without pads during summer break because we had to babysit our younger siblings. We didn't even get to play in the games between backup players. He was one of the Top 2 most athletic boys in our class, I went on to play college football, and we didn't get to play a down in 8th grade. He just quit football after that. The 9th grade coach didn't play any nonsense, and I became a starter again. But the high school coach still didn't give the ball to black players. My high school teammate's older brother didn't get the ball on our sorry to mediocre teams, but he went on to play in the NFL and he's in his college's hall of fame. Racism is crazy in general, but being racist against kids is on another level, and a coach losing with white players instead of winning with black players is on yet another level.

Historically speaking it takes folks longer to know their dads because they're legitimately doing less. When polled, Dads are less likely to know intimate details about their children, they participate less in feeding, bathing, holding you after bad dreams. They just don't makes themselves as important. If you want your children to notice you, notice them 💚
@coolyungdru

Father’s provide structure, discipline and ultimately prepare children to be competent and competitive in adult life. The numbers prove children with no fathers present in the home are more likely to fail in almost every aspect of life. Fathers don’t do less. Perhaps this fem centric society doesn’t understand fathers’ value.

Exactly! My father didn't/doesn't receive less than my mother because they actually BOTH spent quality time with us. It's a shame that so man people, including the commenter under this thread, think that the only thing fathers need to provide is money, disciplinary actions, and things of that nature. Yes, those things are important, but fathers actually need to take an active part in their children's personal lives, I.e. friendships, homework, extracurricular activities, feedings, bath time, talks, etc. My dad did ALL of those things for us plus provided for the family. I just don't understand how some of these guys expect for their children to be close to them when they don't even take the time to build an actual relationship with their kids. Smh.

As a proud Daddy’s girl who regularly notices that my experiences with my father tend to be way more positive than most, I can 1000% say that people just keep the same energy according to how the parent contributed to their lives and their partnerships. The people complaining about fathers being ignored also think it’s a good thing that the mother/women in general are spoken about like some sort of superhuman species while fathers expect a parade for the basic a** bare a** minimum. The ones who pull their weight almost never have to complain

Man I love blaq Rawn, been listening to him for a few years by now. Being a Dallas native myself I was automatically drawn to him but I feel like he's got so much of my reality but in the very powerful strong, good black kind of way in mine in a Hispanic family kind of way. Even with those differences I feel like you just speaks my language for sure and he's funnier than he needs to be which is crazy. He's got a good content but his word play is so good and he's such a talent I really appreciate this dude a lot. When my friends come over they get themselves a dose of blaq rawn and I never hear any complaints, rather, the room feels would laughter every single time
