Nobody Thought My Manual MK5 Supra Would Make THIS MUCH POWER!

👋 Lets see how much power my brand new 2023 Toyota Supra paired to the 6 speed manual transmission puts down on the dyno! I have been enjoying my new manual transmission MK5 Supra so much lately and just wrapped up installing many performance modifications! But with the advanced ECU of the Toyota Supra, do these bolt on parts ad any power? Or do I need to tune the manual Supra to get the full benefits of the bolt on parts?
So in this video I visit my friends at SOHO Motorsports to put my manual 2023 Supra on the Dyno! I did put my stock wheels back on just to keep things consistent with a bone stock manual Supra. Overall my car put down 394 wheel horsepower and 410 wheel torque! The B58 engine in the MK5 Supra is very underrated and makes way more power then the claimed 382 HP and 368 TQ Toyota states the B58 engine makes.
Current Mods:
MST High Flow Catted Downpipe. AWE Touring Resonated Exhaust. Armaspeed Intake. KIES Charge Pipe.
Overall I don't think the bolt on parts ad much in terms of power. They do make the Supra sound amazing and really wakes up the fun factor. But the stock ECU is designed to push out stock power. It uses torque table to limit power and produce stock numbers regardless of external circumstances or conditions. We do all know that once you tune a B58 Supra, these wake up and make 500 WHP and well over 500 WTQ easy!
So at least I have a good baseline dyno run on my car with all the mods and once I dive into tuning I can see how much power tuning ads!

Would like to see what the jb4 can do. i have a white a90-mt with full bolt ons as well and been debating getting the jb4 for the moment until femto unlock. if you review the jb4 and it does good numbers on the dyno ill more than likly go that route for awhile

I can tell you, jb4 base maps are terrible on the manual supra. And unfortunately, the known tuners that provide custom maps via jb4 for the auto supra are refusing to tune the manual supra due to multiple cars having issues. I'm currently running jb4 on mine, and the base maps are 100% no good. I have yet to see any tuners with success on the manual supra yet. I'd say you're better off putting money towards femto unlock.

Get a custom map 6 tune for the jb4 and you'll be making some gains. Especially with downpipe

Can’t clone MT DMEs anyways. But BM3 has come out with CustomRom and a flex fuel kit so… also talked to one of the very best JB4 tuners on this car and he said to save my money for an unlock.

I have a 2023 A91-MT, and a JB4 installed on map 2, waiting to get a custom map. But I would really appreciate a full video on it, because the closest dyno to me is 2+ hours away and i want to see what the supra can do without me having to take the ECU and ship it overseas lol

Yeah for sure! I'd like to test something like that out and see how it feels and then see what power it makes. Yes when I do ECU tuning it'll go to Femto and be used on BM3 I believe

It's the perfect balance. On the highway there is no drove. And anything in the low revs just cruising the car sounds very tame. Under boost it opens up and rips! I love the blend with the MST Catted downpipe and this resonated touring. Perfect setup for my taste.

Yeah be cool to see what a piggy back tune does! I never had my GTR on the dyno when it was modified. But its for sale now all stock, so I won't be having it on the dyno regardless

From what I've seen, about 500 WHP and 550 WTQ is the max. So full bolt ons and E50 is about it then you need a clutch

I have an A90 6MT. After unlocking, how much horsepower do you think our stock manual clutches can handle before needing to change them? 500hp max?

Yeah I'd think 500 would be about the max. So FBO maybe E40 would be the max on it. One local shop just did all that and did an upgraded clutch with that setup

Depends. Technically the dealer would have to drive the tuned caused an issue. Most likely if you had an engine issue they wouldnt cover it since they would blame the tune. But other parts of the car would still be covered since they are un related. So depends on your dealer and how stingy they are

So you're saying it's safe to run full bolt on's for the time being with a stock tune without it blowing up? I came from the WRX platform and you couldn't do literally anything but a catback without having to tune it.

A lot of people online running full bolt ons without issues for many many miles. The issues start happening when people go hard on flex fuel, bigger turbo, messing with internals, etc.

Absolutely. Nothing wrong with these parts at all on this car. The MST catted downpipe doesnt throw a CEL or anything either. So it perfect. A catless downpipe you can even run with no tune. You'll just have a CEL. Subarus are pretty finicky and don't seem to handle power. The Supra ECU is very smart and can compensate to always do the right things.

Intercooler is integrated with the intake manifold on the b58.

It's in the intake manifold :) I think I've seen someone do an air to air kit. But stock seems pretty efficient. Easier to just upgrade the intake manifold with a bigger heat exchanger

The radiator is massive to cool engine and as a intercooler. Benifits are you have full boost at idle for launch with no car movement for airflow needed. Also the fresh air pipework is MASSIVELY reduced that increases response. As I understand from F1 engine designs.

BM3 is giving MHD a run for it's money with the new custom rom. The only cool thing about MHD is you can flash it back to stock which I think you can't with BM3. Either way yes Brosfourspeed, send to Femto and unleash more power.
