love the way it leans into the slight jankiness of current AI video - in 10 years' time when that has been eradicated they will bring out plugins to bring back 'an early 2020s retro feel'. very nice work, bet it took ages to do
@jonnyhatter358 ай бұрын
Yea embracing the jankiness, especially by making it a 1950/60s aesthetic, is def dope. But honestly if you look at SORA, which is like two months old, the inherent jankiness of previous AI video is already eradicated. It's just hard to wrap our heads around how freaking fast this technology is improving. By next year we'll be reminiscing about this very video and comment thread :)

i wouldn't be so flippant about 'loving' it as, nice *_'work',_* nor do i think it will take 10 years to lose all jankiness.... 1. Artists and real human art are something that aught to be held in the highest regard...It's already been a sad state of western society, that art is so low on our list of priorities...This is just another degradation of our values (re art)... 2. I doubt it was a lot of 'work' at all.. If you have ever made a real short film and played with AI and had a handful of ppl helping you, i think you'd actually say the _opposite!_ 3. The 10 years thing. Of course, it's a matter of what you define as 'perfect' but regardless, i don't think it will be even close to 10 years, but yeh, u can guess, that's the *_least of my concerns!_* 😉 P.s. I'm not ANTI AI!: Don't get me wrong, i _do_ hope AI will save us from ourselves, in politics/greed, in health, in environmental problems...and anything else you can think of....but the way humanity has always been too immature for it's technology, is what concerns me.... Even now, tech companies race, head-long, toward the edge of the cliff and no one dares slow down, regardless of dangers, because they feel they _'can't afford' to,_ be left behind! It's a recipe for disaster! 🙄

@ellemueller6 ай бұрын
For those who don't know, @ScottFranco1962 is talking about a 1963 episode of The Twilight Zone called Steel. Setting: it's "ten years in the future". The sport of boxing has been outlawed for humans and is now performed by robots. A former human boxer named Sam "Steel" Kelly is the manager of an old robot model named Battling Maxo. He arranges a fight against the latest model named Maynard Flash. His mechanic Pole tells him that the robot needs to be repaired, and Steel intends to use the money that he will receive from the fight to fix his robot. However, a coil breaks before the fight and Battling Maxo cannot be operated anymore. Steel proposes a bold illegal solution to Pole to resolve the problem in a desperate gamble in Maynard, Kansas. Then there was a film where Hugh Jackman does the same thing: Real Steel.
