My boss recently Purchased a new Chevy pickup and this jump box was one of the extras the dealer added as part of the deal...Wednesday night here in Iowa we hit -27 with 40 MPH winds and I used it to start my completely dead 5.4 L Ford F150...When he brought it out for me to try, neither of us gave it any chance of working but it was worth a shot...I can only say I was completely blown away...it cranked the engine like it was the middle of summer! I have one on order right now! One side note...after I used this I found out that our local power company uses these to jump start there big diesel line trucks all winter! Impressive!

The GB 150 will. I've done it plenty. I haven't tried my smaller one though (gb70)
@rickl66977 жыл бұрын
From what I've heard the problem is probably in part due to the lithium batteries. Have to protect them from freezing temp. Plus like you said diesels with their high compression are way harder to start in the cold. That's why they typically have engine block heaters for very cold environments. Thanks for posting this video, I've been interested in one of these for a while.
@LoveYourRV7 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. I'll luckily never have the problem where I travel and being in an RV but just wanted folks to be aware it won't work as well in extreme cold, so may need to research further on that. Some may need to buy one size up to get the extra capacity. Cheers Ray

Hey Ray. I was putting off getting a battery pack for jump starting thinking I could just connect to my house battery or use my Champion 2000 generator (thanks for that review as well) but with Amazon's Prime Day discount today I picked up the 1000A version for $63.96. I pull my travel trailer with a 3.5L EcoBoost F150 so 1000A was sufficient for my needs. To justify the impulse buy I said to myself what happens when I drive to a destination and leave the RV and generator at a camp site and return to a dead battery with no cell phone coverage and no one around. If the vehicle battery is dead or the vehicle won't run, no one is around, there is cell coverage, but the cell phone battery is dead this is a small price to pay to have power to make a call. Beyond that everyone can use some positive karma for jumping other's vehicles without risking damage to their own vehicle :-) I connected to amazon using your link (tag=lyrvyt-20 showed up in the Amazon URL), selected the 1000A version, and added it to my cart so you should get credit for it. Thanks for all the great reviews!

@jameskoralewski10063 жыл бұрын
It's a 2-3 hour charge time if you use the cigarette lighter in your car or truck (They call this a 12-volt fast charge). It's about 11 hours of charge time if you use the USB cable to charge the unit.

Cool, they didn't have the fast charge option when I bought mine 3 years ago so takes much longer around 5-6 hours to charge via the cigarette lighter socket.

Ray, First off hello, I just wanted to thank you for the time and hard work, that you put into this video. This product was promoted by another You Tuber, who searches for deals on everything online. I went to check it out, but it was not available. I decided to research reviews on You Tube, and chose your video. Wow! My hats off to you sir, what an awesome job. I thoroughly enjoyed your video, and the details you went to, to put this product through it's paces. I can tell you that after watching this video of yours, you have picked up a new subscriber. @Marc Lussier: Blame that on the EPA... It was interesting to see the trucks change from 2003 to 2005 at the Barrel Racing nationals. In 2003, everyone had a F-350 / 450. In 2006, 1/2 the trucks were Dodge 3500s...

This might be a really dumb question. But we don't not have solar or a generator yet. Can't the RV's television or radio be used while boondocking, or should I say what runs off just the battery?
@LoveYourRV7 жыл бұрын
The radio usually does but not the TV unless it is a dual AC/DC type, not too common. Every RV is different, though. If it plugs into a regular household outlet it doesn't run when off grid. Usually, that is the TV, Microwave, Air Conditioner, Electric fireplace, Convection oven, etc. You can look at the breaker box for a list of things. Things that can run are usually the fridge, water heater, gas stove top, and oven since they will run off of propane and water pump and lights.

I'm slightly concerned about the testing method during starting... specifically that you said there are two batteries, and you disconnected both, but don't show the other battery. I assume they are wired in parallel since you show 12v, and I can see that the positive terminal has a pass-through design for positive wire... different than a car where it would be terminated at the (single) battery. It would have been nice to see both batteries, hook the leads up on video, with a voltmeter showing 0v off 12v Noco on. I can't really see the Noco voltmeter, but it certainly appears to show nothing, and 12.2v after turning on bypass mode. Would also be interesting to know what voltage drops to during cranking... I wonder if that is part of the 4kA claim. I can't see anything that definitely says it's fake, so I can give the benefit of the doubt, but you have to go the extra mile if you want to be the honest guy, because this is 201x and KZbin is full, right up to the brim, with bullshit.
@LoveYourRV5 жыл бұрын
If you look closely you can see the second batteries negative lead unbolted and hanging off the driver's side front corner of the truck. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJiym3iqhJKMgNU The battery is tucked under the air intake scoop. I have no reason to lie, my wife paid $300 bucks for it as a gift, if there was an issue with it, I'd tell you. It's 2 years later now and still works great no problems. When you were looking at purchasing it, did you also look at the AntiGravity XP-10? If so, why did you choose this over the XP-10?
@LoveYourRV7 жыл бұрын
GB150 was 10L vs 7.3L, I wanted the extra overhead. The casing on the Antigravity doesn't look as good to me. I like the leads on the NOCO much more, no plug hardwired. And the IP65 water resistance. Finally the name brand recognition.

nice review, is the gb150 a little overkill? have you ever had to use it to start the truck? i have never had to jump my chevy duramax diesel but that doesn't mean i won't have to in the future. amazon reviews say they have jumped a diesel successfully with a gb40, curious what you think and yes i know bigger is better, i just need adequate, tell me ray
@LoveYourRV7 жыл бұрын
The next one down in the line is a GB70. NOCO it says its rated for 8L gas or 6L diesel, engine, my diesel is a 7.3L. There are lots of sizes of diesel, maybe the Amazon reviewer was jumping a little car. There are lots of variables when starting an engine so some may get away with a small one say when its warm out and the vehicle batteries aren't totally depleted. If it's cold out you are going to want a little extra capacity. Also, the GB150 has more reserve, in case the engine needs lots of cranks. I just got the unit and my truck batteries are only a few months old so, no I haven't needed it yet. Could have used it a few months back as my batteries were nearing the end of life and I had to get jumped a few times when they were too low to start the truck.

Hi Ray. Do you know how long the charge would remain in the unit when stored? Ive heard some of these jump starters lose charge. I was highly impressed with the NOCO review! keep up the good work!
@LoveYourRV6 жыл бұрын
Being lithium based they are supposed to hold a charge much longer than a lead-acid type. I've had mine sit for a month or more and it was still fully charged. This is from the NOCO FAQ page - no.co/support/boost-faq "All Boost models can hold 70% of its rated capacity for up to one year. For optimal performance, we recommend charging the device at least every 4-6 months, after initial charge." Cheers! Ray

No, the RV furnace fans draw too many amps it would wear it down in a few hours easy. Hi Ray another great Video. I have a question. When the NOCO is dead, do you have to buy a special charger to bring it back or does it have the charger built inside? I watched all the videos on this I think I missed that. Thanks
@LoveYourRV7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, the charger circuit is inside, just have to plug it into a 12-volt socket, like a cigarette lighter in a vehicle or the one in most RVs usually near the TV area. Also, it can be charged by being plugged into any USB outlet but will take a really long time, a day or two.

Ray, looks like your TrailAir is rusting as much as mine has :-( Still a good unit though and would recommend it to RV owners. I did find that running it with slightly lower air pressure than recommended makes for a smoother ride at least with my Cougar 245RKS. Ron&Liv
@LoveYourRV7 жыл бұрын
Spending so much time close to the ocean sure doesn't help and the salty trips along the coast. :) Looks to be just a little surface rust, though. I have a fair amount of hitch weight so I find around the arrow tip is good or I may bottom it out but that can change with how much water I put the fresh tank. Mine is at the very rear of the trailer so loaded up for boondocking that can be an extra 500 pounds back there which will lower the hitch weight. So I usually adjust it a bit when we start boondocking, lowering the pressure a bit, also nice on the gravel roads.

Will it run a fish finder for a day of fishing?
@LoveYourRV3 жыл бұрын
Only if your fish finder has a very low amperage draw. The booster box can put out high amperage for short spurts to jump start things but its actual battery capacity is pretty meager at only 8 amp hours. So for example say the fish finder draws 1 amp then that's 8 hours of use. If it draw 1/2 an amp that's 16 hours of use. 2 amps is 4 hours and so on. Cheers, Ray

Thanks so much for your review. Have you tried running an inverter off of it? I’d be very interested to see if I can run an appliance like a AC heater off it (like you did with your SOL battery review and how long it would last in an emergency as I’d like to take it as a power supply when I go hiking on my bike. Thanks!
@LoveYourRV4 жыл бұрын
Its not very good for running an inverter as the total amp hour capacity is low at 8 Amp Hours. Running any high wattage appliance would quickly exhaust the battery. It good a for power low wattage things like phones and for using short bursts of power like jump starting or running something high power briefly.

I purchased the gb150 on Amazon and they claimed it would start a 7.3L diesel engine if I'm not mistaken. I followed the instructions exactly and i charged before the 1st use. I hooked it up to my dads Ford F350 Diesel engine truck as the battery marked 10.6v on the gb150 and it only cranked 1 or 2 times. I then did the manual override and that didn't do anything. I returned this product back to Amazon immediately for a refund. I personally think I could of gotten a defective unit but I was really disappointed in this overpriced product. I also noticed after trying to start it twice it went from a full charge to 50% also very disappointing.
