The #NOCOGB70 will jump various lead-acid batteries, including absorbed glass mat (AGM) batteries. As a more muscular unit in NOCO's product line, the GB70 will handle gas engines up to eight liters and diesel powertrains up to six liters, including late-model HD trucks from the Big Three. We like the GB70 overall, although we wish the location of the charging bank and flashlight were reversed. It's not entirely a deal breaker for us, but it's something to be aware of if you intend to purchase a unit like the GB70.

I purchased the 15700 GB70. After using it twice and the warranty expired, the unit refused to turn on, the flashlight worked and showed full charge. I contacted NOCO and the guy who got back to me freely admitted that the power button has had "soldering issues". He was kind enough to send me a 15% coupon on a new unit. I now own the most expensive flashlight I ever had.

I've had my GB70 booster now for a year and I've boosted more than 10 times on several different vehicles - all on the first charge. I've never found the cable orientation to be much of a problem. There is more than enough length to connect the cables and still have the light pointed at the terminals. I don't know why they chose to reverse the cables, there may have been some technical or space-saving reason, but it's never been a problem for me.

That's awesome to hear and thank you for your feedback. That was our guess too on the cable orientation - likely a technical or space saving/packaging reason. Thank you for watching our video!

Yeah, thanks I already fixed it. It was something wrong with the charger internally. Had to take it apart and fix it.

If the flashlight orientation causes you grief, maybe angle it upward and use the hood/bonnet to kick the light back toward the engine bay - the flashlight is extremely bright.

I am thrilled with this product and have already placed an order for one. I have a question that came to mind after watching your instructional video. In the video, the clamps are attached directly to the battery terminals. Isn't it standard practice to connect the negative clamp to the vehicle’s chassis ground instead of directly to the battery terminal? Could you please clarify if there is a specific reason for the direct connection to the battery poles, or if connecting to the chassis ground is also acceptable with this product? Thank you !
@Automoblog
@Automoblog 5 ай бұрын
That was partly done in the video to show how the BMS (battery management system) won't allow you to have any sort of spark or reverse polarity ... essentially, the GB70 isn't active until it's hooked up properly - or put another way, a novice who doesn't have a lot of experience with cars can't accidently use the jump starter the wrong way as the internal software prevents them from doing so. I don't specifically know about the chassis ground, but the owner's manual recommends connecting directly to the battery terminals itself: www.manua.ls/noco/genius-boost-hd-gb70/manual?p=3 When I was a service advisor back in South Dakota, we had a jump box under the main service desk. If a vehicle needed a jump in order to get it in the bay, we would always attach right to the battery terminals directly. However, other sources support what you are saying about the negative clamp: www.midtronics.com/blog/whats-the-right-way-to-jump-start-a-battery/ I hope that is helpful. Thank you for watching our video. ~ Carl

Silly question but is it possible to have too much power? If I used this gb70 on lets say, a snowmobile to jump start it.... would the 2000amp cause damage? As 2000amp jumpstart would be overkill for a powersports machine
@Automoblog
@Automoblog 9 ай бұрын
Yes, this unit would be overkill . . . however, the internal battery management software should recognize the battery it's connected to. Before we reviewed the GB70, we met with the NOCO product development team who said that the software was designed to prevent the GB70 from "hitting a smaller battery with everything it's got," but rather to only rely the power necessary to start the battery you are attached to.

The 2000A is only a maximum possible current the unit can supply. It's similar to the Ah rating on a battery. The 12V part is the important number. As long as your battery is 12V it will work OK. The starter will draw as much current as it needs to start - starters on smaller engines draw less current. You can use this to power 12V tire pumps, boost motorcycle batteries and more. I've used mine on all of the above. The USB output can also be used for cellphones.

I have a wet cycle battery and I went to go put on the charger and I put the negative to the negative and the positive to the positive and it’s showing the red reverse light but everything is hooked up right what would be the cause of that? Is the battery no good
@Automoblog
@Automoblog Ай бұрын
Hmmm .... if the red light on the GB70 is solid then it's reverse polarity. If it's blinking, then it means the internal battery is too hot and the GB70 needs to cool. Usually, if your vehicle's battery is bad, the "Boost" light on the unit won't come on at all. How old is your battery? It might be a good idea to just replace it anyway if it's really old.

Can the gb70 be used on small vehicles?
@Automoblog
@Automoblog 3 ай бұрын
Yes, it sure can. The GB70 will handle gasoline engines up to eight liters and diesel powertrains up to six liters in displacement, including late-model HD trucks from the Big Three. That said, you will be fine to use it on a smaller vehicle. There is also an internal battery management system (i.e., software) that tells the NOCO GB70 to only deliver the juice required by the battery needing a jump. Essentially, it can tell the difference between a lawnmower battery and a truck battery and adjust its power delivery accordingly.

Yes, it should come with a 40-inch micro USB cable for charging and an XGC extension cord with a 12V male and female adaptor. Using the micro USB cable and a USB wall charger, it takes about three hours to charge fully if the internal battery is completely empty.

@KP-vr6ft I assure you it won't jump start my battery it's completely dead! But as stated previously this brand claims this booster "will jump start a dead battery" and clearly doesn't.. Fully charged unit (booster) Will immediately reactivate my alarm, and give me ignition lights & glow plugs. Try and start the engine and all you'll hear is clicks from the dead battery, leave the unit boosting the battery for maybe 10 minutes with everything turned, and you'll end up with a flat booster pack and no engine start. I never needed this booster when it was purchased. But rather have it and not need it. Then need it and not have it.. Now i need it and it's completely useless! I'm happy i found this out at home instead of being in the middle of nowhere..
