A better review than another from a different You Tuber (thumbs up to you) IMPORTANT POINTS (These are observations from someone who has owned a GB40 and now owns a GB70, has read all the manufactures instructions AND knows about electricity. It is not from someone who has any links with the designer or manufacturer, as such these points are in plain English with no legal fluff. You may choose to take notice OR ignore these observations at you own risk, I accept NO responsibility) 1. The unit must be FULLY charged before first use (The unit will take about 3 hrs to fully charge from a 12v (3A) supply and about 5-7 hours from a 5V (2.1-2.4A) USB charger. The unit will indicate fully charged (whilst input is still connected) when the 100% is solid and the 25%-75% LEDs are OUT. Once charged you MAY leave the unit connected to a 12V outlet in your vehicle that ONLY comes on with the ignition is turned on. By doing this, GB70 should stay charged from your running alternator and should not need to draw power from the idle vehicle battery Note: In cold weather, or after the vehicle has sat idle for an extended period, you should disconnect the GB70 before turning the ignition on. DO NOT attempt to have the GB70 charging and discharging at the same time (Do not attempt to connect both input and output at the same time). 2. The manufacturers claims that this unit can jump start up to 40 times on from 100% charged internal battery HOWEVER. To prevent overheating You should not attempt more than 5 consecutive tries in 15mins (Unit will need to be disconnected and rest for 15mins to cool down). The GB70 will automatically shut off if it does overheat (red error LED). This is IDIOT protection, you should avoid reaching the error state 3. Whilst this thing can jump start a vehicle with a fully dead battery, it will struggle if your drained battery is still capable of receiving a charge. Connect the GB70 wait 30secs and then try jump starting. This give the GB70 a chance to bring your drained battery up to 12V .If you have a battery voltmeter in your vehicle (or place a Voltmeter across the terminals as in the video) you will see this happening. 4. When the unit is ready to attempt a jump start, the 25%-100% LEDs will be chasing, and the White LED will be lit (Note the GB70 is ready to ATTEMPT, even if the dead battery in your vehicle is still just over 2V). You will also hear the GB70 clicking as each 25%-100% LED chase completes this is NOT a fault, the GB70 is continually monitoring the load (dead battery and starter) that you are placing on it.

My unit does the running the lights and click click click sound with the white LED on, but in 5 years it has failed to start 4 different cars in maybe 20 to 30 start attempts. It do nothing at all, nada zero... I have had to call road assistance 3 times and used jumper cables and other cars and have now a 95Ah battery I use as jump start instead. This thing has never worked. Also the safety override do nothing (holding button 3 seconds).

The GB70 was redone with the smaller clamps now for tighter spaces. I have one with the bulky clamps (like yours) and I've jumped everything from a 2.4L Honda to a 5.2L Diesel Powered Chevy W6500. The 70 is quite good. And as for going big... if you can afford a big one, it's better to have a lot of boost power than not enough (and be stranded).

Average mom here…Accidentally left the inverter switch on in the class A 30ft RV….chassis engine wouldn’t start and no house power at all. This little GB70 took about 5 seconds to jump start my big RV. $200 well spent. Won’t leave home without it! Agree with needing slightly longer cables, but just be patient and nimble with twisting your body upside down to see the jump box display if you have to :)

Thorough review. I have the GB70 with the smaller clips - I’ll call it an ‘upgrade.’ Just from a design perspective, you’ve got to appreciate the elegant design and the packaging of the Noco products. The fact that they do what they are designed to makes the design simply a cherry.

I have a high end Snap-On jump box EEJP500, its got long cables, very strong clamps, and can jump almost anything. I havnt touched it in months, because it is very heavy, awkward to carry, and my cheap Peak jump box works fine and is 1/4 the weight and size.

Let me address something that will surely come up. I have seen AvE's review of this(or the similar one). It is a pretty funny video, and man does he beat the hell out of that jump pack. I am in no way discounting what he said. Let's remember what the primary intent of a product like this is. It is a SAFE way to jump start a car. Will it jump start a 6.0l engine? Maybe not. Does it work great for the average car owner, or car tech? I think it does.
@gglovato8 жыл бұрын

+HumbleMechanic AvEs review is funny but it's also true. The spec. are overmarketed. And maybe it's SAFE because it might not burn your car when applied. AvEs vid goes after the craptacular engineering and solutions... ...ergo more than overpriced. But hey it's just electronics right =D As a jumpstart you could just as well check out Electrobooms video with the battery and whatnot. Me myself and I would get a CTEK shopcharger and charge the vehicles battery a minute or two in the shop or change the battery, if it's dead... smartercharger.com/battery-chargers/

I watched your very informative video - and then purchased a GB70. It works great and although we have several of the JNC-660 Jump boxes, I am going to have the guys use this one to prevent the chance of reverse jumping (which in the past has cost me a LOT of money when people accidentally reverse the leads). The short leads are disappointing, but it does work on most applications. Audi A8 is difficult. It even started a Dodge 6.7 liter that was too low to start (but not dead). I do wonder if this unit charges if left on a running vehicle? Do you know? Otherwise, I'll wait until it is 50% full or so and leave it on a car to see if it charges from the vehicle running.

My mother-in-law's battery was low and her car wouldn't start. Usually she would just get a boost and everything would be fine. But, she often parks her car head-in inside her carport. Boosting is difficult when you can't get near the front of the car. There was no problem with my GB70. You don't need to get up front with another vehicle. You just walk in with the Jump Starter in your hand. I once had a dead battery in a parking lot with the front of the car inaccessible. I had to wait for over an hour for the other cars to leave so I could get boosted. No more of that with the GB70. You never think about accessibility until you actually get stranded with a dead battery.

It's good to have a light but if you want to use it in a dark and cold night, you'd wish the light would be on the same side as the leads. What good is having the light the wrong side? And the cables are short and not removable. The electronics inside go bad very fast because mosfets and diods go bad under load which cause the lithium cells over heat and puff up. Then $200 down the drain.

Thanks. Quick question. Any way to install this in the car, maybe right next to the battery. I have plenty of room to mount it under my hood next to my battery. But, then wire the 12 volt charging port directly to the alternator output so any time I'm running my engine its keeping the GB70 charged. Then if I ever kill my battery by leaving my headlights on, etc..... All I do is pop my hood and throw a switch of some sort and the car starts on the GB70 battery. So permanently hook the POS and NEG to the POS and NEG terminals on my battery ready to throw that switch to allow the GB70 to send power to the car battery terminals? Thanks.

I think they are all the same expensive junk they work great for a while then they die mine is Canadian tire but it's exactly like the noko looks like the same thing it did great at boosting my pt cruiser 6times the first trip out but I tried to use it after I had recharged it to charge my phone but it only got it to 38 % before the unit was dead I noticed that each time I used it I got less and less boosting until dead and after about 6 uses it won't even boost it at all so I went back to the old booster pack unfortunately before I found out on the net why they die always blamed myself for not maintaining them properly when I found out the proper charging parameters I checked my old chargers for my old booster packs since they were saying that the battery is dead or as the British say flat at 12 volts and should be kept at a full charge of around 14.8 volts when I checked my old chargers they were 12 volts so it was no wonder they died they were never really charged in the first place so since I still had my old black and decker with the built in charger I tore it apart and it had the same wall charger as the rest just built in with the prongs through the plastic then I looked at the battery and written right on it was do not discharge below 12.2 float charge 13.4 and full charge is 14.8 unfortunately I had bought 2 everstart from Walmart and I checked out the charging voltage and it was 12 volts but if the booster volt meter is correct it actually charges to 13.1 so I'm going to make a charger for them I finally found a charger that will properly charge it now I just need to make an adapter for it so I can charge through the cigarette lighter plug and charge it properly that way then I need a source of batteries so I can get new ones for my 2 old Canadian Tire booster packs apparently the online battery company charge ridiculous shipping prices to Canada

I've got this and it works awesome, but when you dump this much money on something like this it should come with a hard case..... It really chaps my ass when manufacturers don't suply a good quality storeage case when you pay big bucks for a relatively delicate device/tool. Reminds me of of Escort radar dectors, pay almost $900 for a rdar detector and you dont get any case anymore but Uniden for half the price and twice the ability supplies an awesome case. *end rant*

How can you get power off your vehicle to charge it if your battery is flat?

Hi Charles I have two of them and yes I would suggest buying the bigger one especially if you live in cold climate I don't know how reliable they are going to be long run and yes I saw the review of AVE and the South African guy that lives in the US he did an extensive test on at least 4 of them he said that it was the safest but the output rating is way over rated this is why I would buy the bigger one I have heard they are going to come out with 3000 amps model .

Hi Charles I just look on the NOCO web site and they actually gave a bigger model called GB 150 Genius Boost pro rated 4000 amps and it has a volt meter on it too. By looking at the picture on the site it looks small than the GB 70 ?

You can use it as a big power bank and charge you smartphones, BT speakers etc. It is very handy when go camping.

Awesome video. You sold me :-) Amazon should make a commission off you!!! Thanks for hitting on how slowly it charges via USB plug. Had you not let me know, that would have pissed me off!
