Are you serious? Listen to Bowie, the Beatles, fleetwood Mac. Then listen to Harry styles. You’ll notice that Harry styles’ music is extremely derivative of some of those artists. And many more from the 60s/70s. He’s not a great songwriter. There’s a dozen examples of embarrassing lyrics on his last album (all written with a team btw). He makes fairly bland, unoriginal pop music that’s propped up by external antics.

You are not fair, or are not knowleadgeable (spell check) enough. Oasis was pretty damn huge ~ 95, 96, 97. I mean HUGE and totally unapologetic. They did as they pleased, sang their own songs (Noel's) and the world ate that up. They still hold some unbeaten records for largest crowds in a live performance and fastest selling album or whatever. Harry and most of today's bigger names, are just product, nothing more. Sure there is a touch of brilliance here and there, and it's great when that happens, but other than that, they're exactly how Noel describes them: think tank products.

No one groomed Harry. He always did his own thing. They tried, but they couldn’t box him in. His goal was always to go solo. For all of them, actually. None of them went on the X factor to join the band they all were seeking solo careers. One Direction was a means to an end for all of them. It was either agree to be in the band or go home. Harry Styles is as talented as him. Both vocally, musically and many other ways like dance and acting. He could be even more talented than him in some areas though obviously he is good musically because oasis is a good band and a lot of people like them. People often diss Harry because he is in one direction but one direction was really a top boy band and deserves a lot of respect and really the one direction boys are so humble and talented as vocalists and musicians and for Harry he is absolutely talented in other ways too. Harry has one of the best male pop voices out there and he is quite versatile too and is still young and still has room for growth. That is why people love him so much is because his voice is a geniune gift from God and very, very beautiful and versatile too and he is a top performer too when he does his concerts. Boy they were so wrong. Metallica is bigger than ever and Backstreet Boys is nowhere to be seen. Think why he is talking about Harry Styles as an example and not Ed Sheeran or Adele. It's because the other two somehow retained that artistic freedom and natural connection. The old artists you mentioned, Fleetwood Mac, Mick Jagger all hate 'The X Factor' and their products not because they are "jealous" but because the relatable raw emotions that comes with the struggle and the work they put into it to rise into the scene is absent. I'm sure even Noel will praise Harry Styles on other occasion for his dedication to his profession because he is not talking about Harry in particular but the music industry that has devolved into nothing more than a vending machine. Once Harry stops looking young the industry will move on to the next young fella or band. Somewhere between 35 and 40 they just stop caring what artist has to say in their music. It kind of makes sense as most people into discovering new music are young people and they don’t want to stan someone who looks like their parent regardless of the talent. Also, with every young person having access to drugs in any club and awareness about addiction, taking drugs is not edgy. It’s common. Lad unironically wearing a dress or pearls. That is edgy. It takes guts doing that in a world where men put down other men who don’t fit the dated but still prevalent masculine mold.

I lived in in a shared house in during the 90s that had a huge shed /garage..converted to a rehearsal studio..there were at least 20 bands that used rented it out by the hour..it seemed everyone was in a band those days and that's why the music scene was so good..god I miss those days.
