Ben Haggard was raised by Merle, Ben was trained where to pause and how to frause the words properly. A main song like this I would like to hear it by Ben.

Noel is 58 and Ben is 28. However both of them were raised by Merle. Personally I think Noel does a great job on this tune!

@@looney033058 Merle at 45 really thought he was going to die. He spent months out on a boat doing drugs with a woman. He was rarely home raising Noel. Once he became older and remarried he strayed away more from the drugs and could spend time with Ben and sober. Really showed him all music pauses and how to phrase words correctly in his music.

Noel has told me many times that nobody even knew that Ben could play guitar when he was in high school. They used to wonder what he was gonna do after he graduated. He said that one day Merle heard him playing and told Noel to come upstairs and check it out. Although a few years later he eventually become Merle's lead guitar player, he very rarely ever sang in front of Merle. He had terrible stage fright when it came to singing in public and it wasn't until Merle passed away that he actually sang on stage for the very first time! During that first tribute show him and Noel performed with Kris Kristofferson, Ben sang his heart out to an audience of over 5000 people!

However I can say without a doubt that Merle never trained him to pause or phrase the song lyrics in any particular way. If anything Ben has more than likely spent countless hours simply listening to the songs that Merle recorded. It's now been a little more than 5 years since Merle passed away and Ben has come so far as a talented artist. We just can't wait to hear him record his own music!

@@ericmesi1764 Eric, When Merle was 45 he lived on a houseboat on Lake Shasta, with Freddy Powers, and many of the early members of his band. It was there that Merle wrote many of his greatest songs. However, at that time Noel was already 20 years old and grown.
