Penning is still below average though. He did better but he's still not good. If you got Will Campbell for RT you have a SOLID line and probably an elite bookend tandem for years to come. If the edge is elite then the interior will be better too. And we run wide zone so edge blocking is more important. Penning can play guard as well. Or, penning could be a swing guy/important depth piece at tackle. Most of the sacks this year happened because Penning got beat and Ruiz sucks so he couldn't compensate. That right side is where most of the pressure came from. We also had FAR more success running to left behind fuaga as opposed to the right behind penning. Campbell is also so good he could easily play guard as well. You don't pass up on campbell if he's available imo. The only guy that clears him is mason the dt

It's really hard to take this question seriously. There really is no reason to even consider taking anything other than a lineman. I would go further and suggest trading that first round pick for a proven lineman that fits the scheme that has demonstrated durability, availability who's under 26 years old. Oh, it would be wise to find out just how Anzalone became a field general with the lions. Did he get better coaching? Got more time to learn? What was the catalyst that led him to play lights out? Or was he always that good and I didn't notice? Thought he was released because he wasn't good enough.

It's not a mentality, it's true. The team was 0-6 when Rattler started, 0-7 in games he played. He played well enough to win the game against Washington but they didn't. None of that is an opinion or a mentality, it's just what happened. The fact is that Carr played with the same lineman and receivers, and won games while Rattler didn't. And Rattler's best games were right around Carr's average games, his worst games were utterly atrocious. Cutting Carr would save 1 million dollars only, so there really isn't a benefit to doing it. Let them compete in camp and the chips will fall as they may.

The Saints need to use free agency to address depth in the offensive line position. there has to be some good unknown backups out there wanting to start somewhere. If we are too young as a team we lack experience. if too old, we get slow and injured often. Maybe this year was a fluke with all the injuries piling up. I know depth wont hurt.

What 5 things would you want to fix, if you were the Saints new Head Coach? It can be injuries, penalties, to a position, to the running game on offense or defense. I could see a rookie coach come in and say, I got Carr, couple of receivers, AK, and a few decent O-linemen. I could have a team that wins 7-9 games my first year.

DE. Cam isn’t productive enough at the position, Chase Young will be a FA, Payton Turners 5th year was declined. After Edge, possibly safety or MLB. DeMario is getting older, but he’s still productive lol. Pete’s constantly injured, but just as productive as DD when healthy. If we can keep the receivers such as Olave, Shaheed, Means healthy, we should be good at that position. LG, TE or CB could come after this.

Spencer justified being someone the team should focus on developing. That includes keeping Carr, giving him a full off-season, and having him come in and compete to be the Starter. If he doesn't win it right out fine, but at some point during the season they can pivot to him. Carr should be an expensive bridge QB/Tutor for Rattler. That's how you handle the QB position in 2025. Depending on what you see from Rattler during 2025, that should determine if you're looking at a new QB in 2026.

Rattler has played as well as he could without any threat of a running attack. Everything won't be perfect but for what he did with what he had qualifies him to at least be in competition for the starting job. Dude played with PS receivers, PS lineman, PS running backs, a shaky play caller, 👹 Dennis Allen and a special team coach as his head coach. After all that he improved. I say you trade down in the 1st round. It's your greatest asset, and we need bodies. Graham will likely be your 3tech where Bresee plays. Sure, he'd be better than Bresee on 1st and 2nd down vs the run (maybe better than Bresee period), but I'd rather trade down and improve this team everywhere than stick and pick for Nathan Shepherd's replacement. Graham is the pick if you stick and pick. I'd trade down (note to Loomis). We SHOULD try something else, like trade down and acquire more picks.

You don't "target positions" unless you are trading up for a certain guy you don't think will come to you. You dont assign positions to draft slots. Health and an upgrade at LG or LT (slide Fuaga inside) will do wonders for this team. They didn't go 5-12 because they have a bunch of deficiencies, it was the enormity of the injury list they couldn't overcome. Those first 2 games (and almost beating the Eagles) didn't just fall out of the sky. They would have easily beaten Atlanta as well, if not for those 2 extremely lucky TDs, they benefited from, to barely win. Lets be realistic about this team and stop panicking
