Having concluded from hearing your Clarkson run in the past that the noise was normal! Mine has new bearings, just as noisy. I have a "C" spanner hole in the shaft, which I use, no "stilson" marks and I haven't tested for hardness. Mine is a MK I Clarkson, I added a double pulley arrangement to give 4000 and 6000 RPM, the only significant difference from the MK II.

Agree with commenters on audio - you sound a little distorted to me. The lack of hardness on the Clarkson shaft does seem odd, will be interesting to see if other owner confirm the same finding.

Hi Bernie, The audio is a step backwards from your audio test video, it sounds like the audio is over boosted and the Clarkson noise is still high pitched and hard to listen to. It's hard to tell with the lighting if you are wearing the new mike but whatever, the last video's audio was clearer. My Herless T&C grinder also has had a kiss from the Stillsons, also right next to the spanner flats, , it must be the approved technique and we are doing it wrong.

BC, sorry to say, but when the machines were running, it was just about impossible to actually tell what you were saying. Constructive feedback I hope.
