From the Dominican Republic, Jazz en Dominicana and Montano Project present Song to My Son
(Paquito d´Rivera) for our friends at the New Orleans Jazz Museum on the occasion of International
Jazz Day 2024!!
Jose E.P. Montano comments: “Song to My Son, is a song composed by the great Cuban
saxophonist, Paquito D' Rivera, to which I wanted to make an arrangement using the influence that I
have acquired from Dominican music mixing it with my Cuban roots, since I am working on the
production of my EP and I have interests in mixing the two cultures. In this song specifically, it is the
mixture of the Dominican rhythm Pambiche with a Cuban folk rhythm called Chachalokafun
performed by the Batá drums, in which an exquisite fusion was achieved rhythmically, accompanied
by the beautiful melody and harmony of the tune.

Kevin Arrechea (Keys); Eliezer Paniagua (Bass); Federico Mendez (Drums); Jeffrey Aponte (Batá

Desde la República Dominicana, Jazz en Dominicana y Montano Project presentan el tema Song to
My Son (Paquito d´Rivera) para nuestros amigos del New Orleans Jazz Museum con motivo del Día
Internacional del Jazz 2024!!
Comenta José E.P. Montano: Song to My Son, tema compuesto por el gran saxofonista cubano,
Paquito D’ Rivera, al cual quise hacer un arreglo utilizando la influencia que he adquirido de la
música Dominicana mezclándola con mis raíces Cubanas, ya que estoy trabajando en la producción
de mi EP y tengo inquietudes en mezclar las dos culturas. En este tema específicamente es la
mezcla del ritmo dominicano Pambiche con un ritmo folclórico Cubano llamado Chachalokafun
interpretado por los tambores Batá, en el cual se logró una función exquisita rítmicamente,
acompañada de la bella melodía y armonía de este tema.
