Trial run for us? This is not even going to be 10% of what it's going to be. They're literally just data mining on a legal scale so that they know what they can and can't get away with. If you don't think that every government agency isn't watching this super closely, then you're nuts. As far as tech that's going to be safe and useful to the general public, this may never be it.

Not to mention voice to skull tech, where you can audibly hear music sounds and voices straight to your head even if you plug your ears. It’s wild man. I’ve experienced this all first hand. You'd be able to use this to deep dive into VR and feel as if you're there. Daniel 2: 40-43 40 Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron-for iron breaks and smashes everything-and as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others. 41 Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw iron mixed with clay. 42 As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle. 43 And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay. I have a feeling this is not going to end well for those who integrate machine into man. Something will be left unaccounted for, and many will suffer.

Not surprised to see this on the JRE since it's also clear what they use Joe for since he has such a large audience. Sure if this tech is used for good purposes it sounds amazing for people that have a real need for it, but let's be HONEST here. WE ALL KNOW how this new technology will be used and it won't be primarily for GOOD purposes. Prove me wrong Elon. I hope you do, but I HIGHLY DOUBT IT.
