Both in all my cabs for over a decade. They just work nicely together.

Rock guy agrees :) Great video. On it's own it is a bit to dark speaker for me. In a 2x12 it is a part of one of my dearest combinations. M plus H in 2x12 is a dream for ceramic speakers and will do equally good clean and low gain and middle again. It will even do higher gain but then again for my taste. Alone it is good for brighter amplifiers. Power handling is good and compression is pleasant. It definitely has that middle range that is Celestion signature thing. Those jagged spikes in higher middle range are just perfection for rock guitar with lower gain. Sure might irritate someone at high gain but everything under that high gain will profit from that Celestion trademark middle. On the paper H and M might sound like strange combination. M has 97 dB/W/m and H has 100 dB/W/m. So one would say M will not be bringing enough in the mix because 3dB is a big step. You need twice more power to achieve 3dB. But number does not tell the whole story. Frequency response curve and middle range just pokes enough. Proof is in the puding. It just works. Together they sound better than any of them on it's own. Anyways I have to say I love whole Cream series and each and every one of those speakers has it's function and place according to me at least :)

I love the H&M mixed too... I also like the M Creamback mixed with an H30 Anniversary and the Creamback H mixed with a Redback.

for high gain I do agree that the H Cream and V30 are better speakers but I love the M for warm fat cleans and overdriven tones. I do personally dislike the high end "sizzle" of the heavy magnets though, which colours my perception a bit. NEO Creamback is the best of both V30 and M to me.

Yeah me too... and I like what you say about the neo cream. Some people don;t like that about it but I find it quite useful. Thanks for watching.

I have the V30 8 ohm and a GM Creamback 8 ohm paired in a 2x12 cab. The Creamback is smoother with a warmer midrange, but the V30 helps maintain some bite without it getting too spikey. Compliments my H&K GMD40.

They're a good match for the Marshall JTM Studio Heads, and also Orange Rockers. I think a speaker with a tight low end was a good choice, the JTM can get a bit flubby in the bass, and the Orange just has really very full bass. With the JTM it has some glassy sparkly, but not too much, is very nice on edge of breakup and crunch tones. Really like mine with a Strat neck pickup and Pedal Pawn Fuzz for glassy cleans, and vintage fuzz tones. These are nice with Victory V40 too, for clean tones, because those are quite a dark amp with a very full bottom. I don't think they're the best choice for high-gain tones. V30s definitely would be more my choice for that. And I also like them with my Orange Rocker 30, for clean and lower-gain. But again, once I crank the gain with a Plumes or Swollen Pickle, I prefer my modern V30s.

I love the M creamback. Especially when playing lead stuff. There’s no harshness on the top end and you get this lovely low mid gurth!! I also love the Neo, and my guess would be these two paired would make a killer rock to metal cab. You don’t want that extreme low end that the H gives you and there’s to much top end. I’ve tried the H before and I ended up replacing it.

That's a cool mix. The H cream is a bit more balanced against a V30 but I love the V30, M cream mix too.

The Creamback H is great with high-gain for the same reasons the V30 is: it puts your gain cleanly out there, doesn't swallow it up or make it sound like it's buried. Very easy to mix and record. I prefer the Creamback M with modded Plexi kind of sounds to get rid of the stringiness and some of the clanky gain. I know that's part of the sound, I just prefer it smoother. I have a Bogner OS 2x12 with V30's (I've had for almost 20 years) and another with a V30 and a Creamback H (only had for two) and my Helios Eclipse prefers the latter. Oh, yeah... A is the V30... 😂

Two absolute favorites, really complimentary except for the difference in volume. I wonder if that artifact Nolly's referring to is the same thing I like so much about the M? It's a chewiness in the mids at 500-700, I think it's there in other speakers but unmasked in the M by an unusual dip at 1k. That's why I like the M unmixed, because another speaker is going to mask that chewiness -- it's perfect for low- to mid-gain hard rock Plexi etc. stuff. Still, can't beat the V30 really, a good one anyway, for versatility. Right now (it changes seemingly every day lol) I'm into a V30 combined with a G12H Anniversary.

The famous upper midrange chainsaw clearly says A is a V30 and B the M Creamback 😁 I still prefer the H though, even if I get why some people might choose the opposite...

i think ya meant "Greenback with more power" instead of V30 lol. and since M magnet speakers tend to be darker, B is the M65

I think the M Creamback pairs better than the H with a vintage 30 . Has a nice low mid emphasis that fills in the holes that the vintage 30 has

Yeah they are a bit different. I kind of like it for heavy stuff but the V30 does have that cut, I get why people would have other favourites for sure.

Yip, almost same for me. Except maybe that I prefer V30s for those higher-gained Marshall voiced amps from say JCM800 on. I definitely prefer Creamback for JTM. And Plexis Creambacks, Greenbacks and V30s all have their place depending on level of gain/boost. That's why the M Creamback is my favourite for combos, and combo sized cabs, 1x12 and 2x12, apart for from Vox amps where I prefer Alnico Blue. Alnico Gold are good too. Alnico a nice second option to have for Fender type amps too. Greenbacks can be nice for thrashy sounds too, the newer Chinese Vox AC15C1 with Greenbacks has a really nice thrashy snarl when gained up into crunch mode; satisfying UK punk tones. Greenbacks with Marshall or Mesa Boogie can be good for punk and older thrashy metal. Orange amps with big PPC412 closed back cabs filled with V30s for stoner rock/doom metal.

I've got an Angled Harley Benton 4x12 with V30's in, but it's far too bright for my ears. Do you think sticking a couple of the G12M-65's at the top would tame that out? Or maybe a Hempback?
@ZillaCabs
@ZillaCabs Ай бұрын
Are you recording? The top speakers on angled cabs can often sound a bit more aggressive. In general we don't advise on speakers for other cabs though, I wouldn't want Harley Benton recommending combinations for our cabs if that makes sense.

Creamback for me. Loving the Creamback NEO. Metallica is about as heavy as I go. Covers everything else as well. I bought a 2 x 12 Closed back Orange Cab with V30s, not a fan. Put Creambacks in, the cab came alive.

A is so the V30. That top end fizz is awful. Low cut at 10k always with a V30.
H Creamback one of Nolly's favourite Modern Metal speakers!
