I've been RVing full time for almost a year and a half and guess what? I have learned to HATE it. I thought it would give me freedom and soothe my soul. I always loved camping growing up. It took the first year for me to accept that I just don't like being outside enough. It's not who I am anymore. I'm not a social butterfly and miss the space of a house. I miss my garden. I miss my goofy solo vacuuming dance parties at 2am. I miss being able to plug in multiple things and not blow all the circuits in the house. I've learned that I don't even like the beach and don't wanna pull 13k lbs up a mountain side. 33 States have taught me that I just wanna go home. I just have no clue where that is anymore or how to transition back. I have learned a lot about myself like... it's not for me long term. I NEVER imagined I'd feel this way. For everyone out there...safe travels, I wish I could love it.

@@ann7021 I don't regret doing it. It's something I had to do for myself. My only regret is selling my house and almost everything I owned to do it. Financially I'm not in a position to buy another house and am not sure where to go from here.

@@smc130 Hi 130! I will not pretend to understand your situation at all! And please forgive my seemingly simplistic answer, because I know it's complicated! BUT! "Sometimes", even disabled people are controlling, and know which buttons to push, and it is physicaly and mentally exhausting! You are the adult! You - with love and kindness in your heart - are in charge! It is natural, human behavior, for "normal" human beings, to be afraid of the unknown, and to experience change! Moving from what is familiar is scary! A disabled person must be terribly freighted of the "unfamiliar"! Their lives depend on everyday routine! It is up to you to be the adult and take charge and go for it! Show them they are safe, loved, STIMULATED, and how wonderful the experience can be! Just maybe - it will work! But you don't know till you try! Perhaps - no camper - short trips! A drive through the park, then a wheelchair ride there! Watching a sunset on the beach or lakeshore! A picnic, on a blanket, with birds, squirrels and sunshine! Your words of peacefulness, deep breaths of relief, cuddles, singing to them! They will grow to love it! I think, I hope, I pray! For you! Give it your best shot! For goodness sake, what have you got to lose?

My husband and I just started RVing with our disabled daughter. We’ve been on two trips so far and she seems to really enjoy it. She has autism and craves routine and familiarity to feel safe and secure. Taking our little home away from home with us where ever we go seems to gives her that stability. It takes a lot of planning and we are always prepared with a contingency plan for bad days.

@kele12643 жыл бұрын
On the husband who thinks it's abnormal: he's jealous and controlling. Trying to shame wife into compliance - his. To the woman: he may not always be your husband, but she will always be your mother. You only have one mother. At 76, it's not like she's got decades of healthy living left, nor do you know how much time you yourself have. You go and travel with your mother. Take pictures. Journal. Show and tell her often how much you love her. These precious memories will be with both of you for the rest of your lives. You will never regret doing so. You would, however, forever painfully regret denying yourself and your mother these wonderful times and experiences in the third act of her life. Best of luck, health, and happiness to you!

I'm in the process of selling my home and I'm going to hit the road again and never look back! BTW - I once checked into the rv women's group and they don't allow pets! Or at least not dogs! That really puts a damper on meeting up with them! I guess I understand because they can be a nuisance with dog chains, leashes, poop, dog fights, wet dogs in the middle of a conversation! Owners that don't pick up after their best friend, nor do many puppies have discipline! So I get it! It's theirtime without children, including pets!

I've always enjoyed your videos. I'm heading to the Southwest in September. Going to the Balloon Fiesta, which has always been a bucket list item for me. Plan to explore southern Utah, etc for s few weeks before heading home and back to work. As a single, middle aged woman I've never considered my travels to be abnormal. I don't want to sit in a house. My trip to Alaska in 2019 was truly life changing. But I've also flown to Peru without knowing anyone there and lived in Lima for a month. It's easy to live a life dreaming of what you want to do and it's scary to take those steps forward, but I refuse to reach the end of my life with regrets. My obituary should say "she didn't let her fears keep her from doing and seeing amazing things". That's a life worth living.

Love what your doing for the over 50 community. Robin, keep your privacy, private and safe. You don't have to share every move you make. You have a huge heart for your KZbinr's. Keep roaming :)

Something interesting about those “prove you are not a robot” things... it is actually A.I. that is using people to teach it what an object such as a bridge or streetlight is! Fascinating!

I'm so happy to see you. I'm looking forward to your next video as I'm not very mobile and need to work from home. And, as I'm anxious to start my RV life, establishing a work life before starting, will make it happen sooner. Best Wishes.

So glad I came across your channel! Make more videos like this one please! My plan is to rent a Class B and go on a long road trip to test how it works for me. So any information you include in your videos is super helpful for me at this point in my life.

Robin, you are SUCH an inspiration to all RV families and future RVers. My husband and I are new to this entire experience. We have watched some of your videos and they helped me be more confident about going RV fulltime. I'm so pumped up and excited. We are planning on creating a KZbin channel as well.

Welcome back Robin! I loved this episode, and the view behind you is wonderful! When I bought my trailer DH told the salesman that while his name is o the paperwork we all know it's HER trailer! And he's correct! He camps with me once or twice a season and the rest of the time I camp with other gal friends, or solo, and am living some precious dreams! I was solo camping the day my Mom died this past August. She was 89 and while her health was declining quickly, she was two states away and I couldn't be with her in person, just by phone. Being in my little trailer that she helped make possible, was the absolutely perfect place for me to be that day, and I have no regrets! Now we are talking about retirement in a year, another milestone, and more time to camp! Thanks again for all you do!

I would have her tell her husband you don't have to understand, you could just try to be supportive. And understand that it is important to you.

Soooooo, I should just TELL My lady, She has to Sell the house, and give up what She finds Secure, etc etc. and Travel with Me, Since It's important to Me, (At 62, I still travel alot, My lady? RARELY, Yet, I picked the New Toy Hauler I have, for Her comfort, for the few times she does.)

@@markw4382 No...not at all. If she doesn't want to do it full time, she shouldn't have to.

@@markw4382 I don't remember anywhere in that story where the wife said they had to sell everything and that he needed/had to go with them. She wanted to travel with her mom in an RV and he said it wasn't normal. Also if it's not going to hurt them financially and all of the "normal" stuff will still be there what's the big deal?

@@markw4382 your comment is really over the top. Please re read the initial comment. You are way off base and seem really extreme and almost hostile.

And it sounded like she does travel with her mother, he just doesn’t like that she does. He hasn’t stopped her, just spoke his mind........

So glad to see you again. I have missed your advice (and humor) very much but totally understand that you need time for you! I have learned SO much from you and look forward to each and every video. You are so genuine, funny and just a natural at this. Even though we have not met in person, I feel like we could be good friends. Of all the utubers I follow, YOU are the one I most want to meat some day in our travels. We are not full timers but have a TT and are currently weekend warriors. Planning some week long camping trips this year, preparing to travel much more next year when we retire. Looking forward to more videos and learning more from you. Have fun... and be free 😉

Great video Robin! Special thanks to you for the shout out about RVing Women. Been a member of this group over 15 years and love it and the women involved with it! It's important that women know there are groups out there that will support them in their dreams of travel and seeing our great country! Thank you for all you do to inform and educate! Love your channel! 😊❤👍👍👍

I have been working from home for 5 years now, it isn't always easy because let's face it, getting up at 2 am. for work at 3:30 a.m. along with being in bed early to get enough sleep, isn't always easy but it also fuels me. I love what I do and I love that reaching across the world amazes me.

Happy to see you back and I can't wait to see the next video. I am home caring for my mom and would really like to work at least part time from home so I can save for a rig. Planning on hitting the road as my "after mom" life. She is 89 now. Still is walking but hearing and sight are going. I don't think she many more years left and I am making sure she has the best quality of life I can manage for her here at home. Thanks for letting me live vicariously thru you and keeping it real for me.

Thank you Robin. I am using your information to plan for my own full time RV life. I am recently divorced and rather than spending money on an apartment or house, but by an RV and live anywhere. Then I can work anywhere and see this beautiful country. Simple life and more fulfilling. You are my inspiration! I can't get enough of your awesome advice!
