People can gain stands either through heritage, like giorno, just being born with it, like polnareff or by reaching their peak potential in a certain field, like rohan with heavens door or tonio with pearl jam. The virus is just one of many ways to bring out your potential.

The meteor was drawn in by potential, which the meteor could grant and was moving therefor toward the earth, as we have seen arrows move toward people with stand potential. The arrows were forged after the meteor came to earth, giving birth to stands when pierced. The virus eventually became either genetic or traveled via other methods aside from piercing someone, causing them to gain stands or elevated potential, which is how stands can be gained via heritage etc.

Yeah GER is crazy because think of it like this - if I fire a gun, the bullet either won't fire or the bullet will just retreat back into its initial position, unfired. If GER "kills" you, because its whole ability basically says "you will never reach the result of any action", physically you're dead but you will never actually reach death. So it's like the universe is trying to correct you like a bug in a computer program, putting you in this infinite death loop in order to actually kill you permanently - which will *never* happen. Think Schrodinger's cat - both alive and dead at the same time, shifting between both in different moments infinitely, never reaching the conclusion of either.

Not really. If you want to shoot the user, you just don't. You can't even pull the trigger because the action you are about to do is reduced to zero, it just unexplainably never happens. It nullifies any attempt at attacking, making it invulnerable to a staggeringly high degree. You got it right on the death loop though. My take is that because you don't die, the universe doesn't know what to do with you so it just makes you die again, but you can't, so it keeps going.

I want you to understand how incredibly powerful gold experience requiem is. You know from what it said in the video that it can remove the effect from the cause. Think of it this way. If the cause is you decide to do something then the effect is you doing it. You decide to take a step forward. but you don't, GER won't let you. You decide to attack, but you just don't. If you are in a battle against GER, you are forced to just stand there and watch as you are killed. And then, it's effect will activate again. The cause: you get killed The Effect: you die and pass on You never reach the effect so you remain in a perpetual state of dying and coming back for eternity

King Crimson's ability to erase time, removes the cause and leaves the effect. Diavolo can use his Stand's ability called Epitaph to see the future, if the future that was seen is him getting shot in the head, he can erase the time of him getting shot in the head. Gold Experience Requiem's ability to nullify or return things to zero, removes the cause from the effect. Giorno can use his Stand's ability called Return to Zero to prevent King Crimson from using Epitaph and Time Erase. If Stands like Star Platinum or The World were to use Time Stop, GER's Return to Zero would activate and nullify such an ability.
