I have spent so munch on charters on that lake and got every cent worth. I have always loved big lake fishing for salmon and trout. That small boat fishing looks amazing. Thanks for sharing you really had the dialed in. Great job.

Thank you! Although Lake Michigan is a new experience, the years spent trolling Lake Superior have prepared me for this adventure. I can't wait to get back on that amazing fishery.

Fun vid. Try the Orca rod holders vs. the cradles - easier for anglers who need a bit of help getting the rod out of the holder with a strong fish pulling (used with my kids / wife / etc.) and will be compatible with the mounts you have.

Great video! Can you give us an overview of your boat and how you like to set up a little boat for big water fishing? Looks like back up outboard as a just in case? Any other pearls of wisdom? I’m Looking to get into a similar setup for Lake Superior and any other suggestions or tips would be appreciated. Subbed and keep up the great videos!

Thank you! I would like to do a whole video on the topic of how-to setup a boat for great lakes trolling. There is a lot of information to cover. The 15 Evinrude is just a backup. We troll using the 50 Honda. Generally speaking, you'll need some good rod holders, some trolling rods and a means to get the baits deep. This can be done with trolling sinkers, leadcore or copper line, dipsey divers, or downriggers. We ran two down riggers and two dipsey divers. If you didn't have down riggers, you could also do two dipsey divers and then run a planer board with leadcore off each side. You could run all planar boards with leadcore or you could run all dipsey divers. I like having a few different options to help spread the lines out. Some days certain methods tend to catch more fish than other for whatever reason.

Great Video. What downrigger brackets are you using? Thanks
@AnglerX4 ай бұрын
The downrigger base is mounted to a swivel bracket of an unknown manufacturer. They are a hand me down from my father. The angled aluminum bracket that mounts on the boat rails is one I had customed made.

You call that small boat fishing? When I was a younger I trolled many days off Racine/Oak Creek area with a 14 foot boat and 9.9 evinrude. Caught many huge Salmon on the nice calm west winds days. That is small boat fishing! Today I fish from a 175 Alumacraft with a 150 HP engine. That I would say is a medium size boat. Nice video!

We felt small on that big lake! Great fishing no matter the boat size!

Nice video. Congrats on your limit. Glad to see a happy couple fishing. But please please put on your life jackets!! I don’t understand why people don’t do that, especially trolling in a small boat on big cold water. It’s easy to lose your balance. I have a deep vee 19.5’ and wear mine religiously. And I’m pretty sure it’s now the law you must have the kill switch cord attached to your body when the motor is running. That did not appear to be the case with all that moving around in the boat.

Theres a outstanding night bite casting glow in the dark cleos,krocodiles, and ko wobblers......Manitowoc is good.....and imo id rather cast than troll any day........ive never done it,but im sure you could utilize your spot lock and drift and cast
