Quick tip on MT4 if you press Ctrl + D you can open up the Data window and then just hover over the candle and the ATR value will be displayed there, for me it just seems easier to read

GBPCAD is 0.1234,5 only use up to 4th numeral after decimal, but when Japanese Yen involved, then it is 0.12,3 only use up to 2nd numeral after decimal point. So, with 0.01586 , as it does not involve a Yen, we use up to 4th decimal ONLY, which is correct as 158. What VP talks about here, the ATR, is an extremely valuable 'tool', it is better than gold, hang in here, just hang in, you will get there, but you must hang in here, 'till you get it, then you will always have it! I'm preaching to myself here. Watch everything VP says, and writes, you must watch everything, and do as he recommends. 'Go get it'-VP. Google: 'forex decimal places' All the best.

And even worse, I would go and even if the "get in" signal had been triggered a few days ago I would still think "Oh, maybe I can still get in the trade because the candles were still going up in a nice uptrend for example and I would enter the trade just because my exit indicator had not been hit yet so I am glad that you cleared that up for me....thank you very much.

as a beginner,never trade more than 3 pairs...also it depends on your account size.. learn to create your own strategy n concept.. test it your self... remember, your chart is your best teacher... i always say,what works for one may not work for others..very psychological... i never believe in indicators ,only in price action ..price first before anything else. trade on the daily chart..draw the buyer n seller zone...go the the 1 hour chart for good entry...take your profits after market create a breach or we so call range,than re-enter again to sell or buy as u follow the trend accordingly. its very simple n easily understood... practice make progress...

If you trade time-based candles, you absolutely need to use the ATR correctly to normalise the risk of your trade, as he is advising. But you can avoid this whole complication by using a price-based candle such as traditional Renko, where each candle is the same size. And because so few traders use price based charts, you get a different view of the market than a candle trader, which helps to avoid bank manipulation. Just saying...

I check on the charts a bit different... I look at the volume/volatility indicator first... if the pair doesn't have enough volume or volatility... I move on to the next pair... if it has enough volume/volatility... then that's the time I look on my first confirmation indicator...

Hi, I have been studying VP also. This is the algorithm that I am backtesting. 1. ATR 2. SMA (20 and 50) i.e. 20 above 50 for buy signal and 20 below 50 for sell signal 3. Trend confirmation indicator (50 day break out i.e. price CLOSES above high of last 50 candles for buy and price CLOSES below low of last 50 candles for sell). 4. Trade Entry (Scaling - using the method VP taught in his scaling video to minimise losses) 5. Trend continuation indicator (i.e. pyramiding trades, i'm experimenting with MACD- VP demonstrated this on his previous video) 6. Trailing stop (exit indicator for me, I use ATR) I have been backtesting with very good success.

He does say that he personally uses something else, but he explains that it does work. I tried backtesting using the MACD for my second entries (to pyramid on to trades), and it has been successful.

"Wait to the candle closes." I have traded the awesome saucer strategy a bit. It has happened quite a few times that a red bar appears in a downtrend after a green bar on the awesome oscillator. After a while the awesome bar changes color to green. Subsequently I lose the trade. Why do I do this? Because I want to get in early. In order to get a 2-1 win with trades that does not go that far. Anyway. I do statistics over this. If this happens more than 20 % of the time I need to change something. The main thing though. Who would not want to get in on a trade as fast as possible?

If the main confirm indicator gives a signal & others don't, then the next day the #2 confirmation indicator gives a signal, but the baseline & volume don't. Then on the 3rd day the volume indicator signals go, but the baseline is still no go and on the 4th day the baseline is finally a go so that all the indicators are positive. Is it still ok to take the trade if the main conf. indicator's signal is 4 days old?

Indicators are wonderful and a mechanical trading system is far superior to randomly pressing keys but at the end of the day it's all about Money Management and Trade Psychology. VP even acknowledges that. We are all getting so caught up in finding that magical combination of indicators but once everything is said and done, you'll end up with a system that basically has 50/50 predictive ability. So don't be so caught up with backtesting and forward testing because you'll succumb to confirmation bias when you curve fit and overfit your indicators to historical data. They will look lovely when you backtest but all fall apart when you forward test and you'll end up driving yourself nuts and chasing more indicators. Don't do it. The magic combination does NOT exist. The purpose of the mechanical system is to teach you discipline and make you super selective. That in itself is worth its weight in gold, regardless of the indicators you end up with. And having a system (whether it's one like VPs or a coin toss system), sticking to it and minimizing your losses is what will separate you from the 99%. Personally I'm in the process of testing indicators and I've come to the conclusion that there is no one size fits all set that can work in all market conditions for all currencies. You need to account for other variables like $EVZ, currency relative strength/weakness and a few others to get something that might give you even a microscopic edge over 50/50. At the end of the day I think you need several algorithms and understand how to apply them to which currencies under what conditions. The rabbit hole just keeps getting deeper and deeper. Maybe I'll just go with a coin toss system...

Adam Walker I know every youtube trader says NOT to touch your stop loss but that is just complete and utter bullshit. If I’m taking a 3:1 trade for ex, when I hit 1:1 profit I’m moving my stop loss to break even. When I’m at 2:1 I’m closing half of my position and let the rest of it run. This is just an example, you have to find what works for you. Best of luck!

I use a moving average cross with the shift option:- MA1 - Period 20, Shift -2, Method Weighted. Then MA2 - Period 20, Shift 2, Method Simple. I love the ATR and use it a lot. Works well on higher TF i.e H4 or Daily

A few of us used this some years ago...even got a guy to code it into an EA but it would always return a "null" value - meaning, that shifting a moving average (which is a lagging indicator) into the future doesn't necessarily make it a predicting indicator and return a signal for an exit. Since I hadn't seen it in a long time, I just put them on a chart; EMA 13, +1/EMA 21 +1 (What we used as a fast/slow crossover utilizing fib numbers because a gooroo said so). Shifting it forward gets you into trades later and out later - so, you'd miss pips on the front end and then again on the back end. Shifting it backwards got you into a trend before it happened (I still had candles going the other way) but it did get you out earlier when the trend flattened out. I plugged in your numbers and noticed that you're in a trade early and out way early...but no matter - if you're getting pips with this, then that's a great thing!

Hi VP I have listened to what you say here which makes sense, but there is something that has been bugging me all along! Before I elaborate further allow me to introduce myself first. I, like you, started researching FX market/ trading since early 2009 shortly after the 2008 credit/market crunch. I really got hooked with the theory of Forex trading and research it the way a scientist might do. I studied the market for 7-8 years, tested multiple systems/strategies, algorithms, on back testing, demo testing, social trading and real accounts. I used real micro-lot accounts each worth no more than £500-1000 through different brokers. I studies many different brokers to find the most descent and reputable ones in the UK. My findings is 100% in keeping with what you stated in the "big banks" video. But what I am surprised about is that you do not tell your follower they have no chance of winning as retail traders, absolutely 0 chance! Instead you have started to sell them hope that you find a holy grail "algorithm" that you profitably use and will not giving it away under no circumstances! I see a time that will come and you would tell others that due to subscribers’ demand you would be willing to put it up for limited sale!! And would renew that limited edition over and over again due to further request and so on!! The truth is that this market is rigged by Forex brokers through which one inevitably has to go to place ones trades. Albeit they say that they are "no desk trader" they all are and taking the other end of the trades. They have access to your trades and know everything about it like your SL or TP etc. They only allow you win now and again to keep the hook on.

@@NoNonsenseForex Agreed in a way. If you are simply going to reveal the indicators and teach people how to do it without making them understand the concept behind using them. But then again, SOME indicators can lose efficiency once its usage becomes widespread. So, I do understand if you don't want to reveal them.
