I learn more from your videos on KZbin than I do from earning my bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from a major university.

Hey Amber! What if you're organization is brand new and doesn't have a history yet? These are the types of questions that bring me so much anxiety.. I am ready to fight for those i want to serve which is those who struggle with mental illness and our goal is to teach them healthy coping mechanisms. There isn't much research on what we're attempting to accomplish yet.

That can be hard for sure! I don't actually recommend grants for brand new organizations because they can be VERY competitive. For newer organizations I've found individual donations, earned income, or even some manageable events are a good foundation!

Hi Amber! Great information as usual. Because I am a newbie, I think that #2, #5, & #7 would be more challenging. The revenue would be based on total expenses and requires some research of other similar NPO/projections- not necessarily difficult but can be very time-consuming, though. Thank you so much! I feel better now. On another note, do you have suggestions on the basic type of NPO positions and/or roles, committees, etcetera for a new NPO? And, how long did it take you to get organized, up and running? Did you start small with something and if so what? Thank you again for helping me get more clarity on what I should be doing right now as the Founder. Whew!!!!😮❤🥰

For roles, definitely check out my videos on the Board of Directors and staffing! It will really depend on your specific mission though.

@Amber Melanie Smith I asked that question because it seems Florida doesn't allow new NPO'S to pay salary (I would consider small tokens of appreciation a gift not salary, too small to pay a full salary anyway) in the first year for whatever reason. I was researching solicitation licenses when I saw that information unless I misunderstood what was being said.

PS, you must have a great BOARD, etcetera! How do you do it all?
@AmberMelanieSmith Жыл бұрын
I don't do it all! :) At this point I've got lots of great helpers (staff and board)!

@Amber Melanie Smith Hi Amber, just curious but does anyone else get a salary? And, what do you think is a reasonable salary for an ED & Program Director, assistant & staff for a new Nonprofit if funds were available for salary? Ok, thank you for all you do!!!💛🥰
@AmberMelanieSmith Жыл бұрын
At this point, I have several other paid staff on my team as well. Even as paid FT ED you can't do it all! As for reasonable salary - that depends on so many factors (experience, geographical location, etc.) - check out my video about average salaries!
