It's interesting that you listen to music while going around a place - the sounds of everything around are part of the experience for me. Plus there's the safety angle of being somewhere different, so giving myself an extra sense to detect possible danger.

Hello Dan, I’m from Hong Kong, I’m so glad that you find Hong Wong well! As you mentioned, the renting power bank is not only here in Hk, is also in Taipei, Tokyo or even Singapore, it’s more like an Asian thing. Thanks of visiting Hong Kong, we will always welcome you to visit us again!☺️

Hi Dan. Love your vlogs 😊 just a mention about something you said in this vlog about being alone on this trip. Some of us, are unlucky / lucky to have to travel on our own, and we have no choice but to do so if we want to go away / travel. I fall into that category, and I can assure you that, as a woman, it is very different to being a man in that situation. I go into a pub here in the UK for a drink and / or a meal, on my own, I get stared at, I hear people making comments, the staff treat you very differently - generally poorly, some restaurants I have tried, I often get told “no tables for one person”. I too get exceedingly anxious (anxiety & depression for 30+ years) yet I force myself to overcome and conquer. However, I often find that I end up cooking & eating in my own accommodation because of being on my own. It’s life for a lot of people. No criticism, just a thought for you x

Hi Starkie, I'm shocked to hear that some restaurants don't offer tables for one person...this is 2024! Despite of this keep discovering!

Its the same for me, I force myself to travel to overcome and proof that I can do stuff. I tend to go back to places Ive been and visits bars and restaurants that are generally "nice" to lonely travelers like me. But for me the journey is also as important. I generally like spending time in airports looking at people traveling, moving while I have a glass of champagne and reflect on that I can do things

Amazing video, Dan, nice to get a glimpse of this other reality of traveling. And I think everyone that has travelled alone for a long time can easily relate to that feeling of loneliness. Amazing story-telling, very entertaining ;)

As I am study aboard I can confirm that there is many excitement to do in the new place or new incident every day daily life (in the UK) but there are many to consider before you go study outside of your place or oversea. it is new place mean you need to push to see new friend but this is not only thing we need to see, some friend may not along with you after a few month so be careful about bound and isolation again. the feeling of far away from home not so easy to manage. I need to back every semester as many locals go back home and most international friend go back their country as well.

Kowloon is quite intense (densest neighborhoods, least green space, narrow streets etc) but happy you enjoyed it! Excited for you to try out Cathay's new interior once it's launched. I am still partial to the Hong Kong airport experience, efficiency and real world functionality over other airporrs and their flashy but useless showstoppers.

Nice video Dan as always. Btw, you can buy a train ticket with your credit card. I moved to HK 11 years ago and honestly it is no longer the same. HK may have lost some of its old British colony feel but it is still a nice place to be in… next time you can consider hiking. There is plenty of nice spots for that.

@transportromania4 ай бұрын
@@BH6242KCh Loneliness is always a problem, but most people will just get used to it. I travel for work (but not as much as Dan and not that far... generally Brussels, Budapest, Vienna, Prague, Bratislava, but also other EU cities) and I'm always alone in my trips (I admit I have some friends in Brussels, but our schedules don't always match). I generally start my trip the day before the meeting, so depending on the plane's timetable, I can get a full day of wondering around the city... which I also do alone. Not that this is much different from the rest of my life... sure, at home I have my parents, other relatives, my co-workers and a few friends. But as I don't have a life partner... I started to like it when I'm alone and I can be myself with my thoughts, no matter if I'm alone on a mountain trail or in the middle of a city where noone knows me and noone knows my language. This also allows me to practice my hobby of a (failed?) tram&train enthusiast and photographer who just had his last 10 years of photography probably lost for good together with the HDD where they were stored (I took it to someone to attempt a backup, apparently some data can be retrieved, but we don't know yet how many).
