Ok this might have been too long and maybe too brutally honest?! 🫣🤪but I know navigating all these choices for your baby can be OVERWHELMING, so I sincerely hope this is helpful! I'd really love to hear from other mamas! Do you agree or disagree with any of these?? What are your must-haves?? Drop a comment for the new mamas below!! 💕

This was super helpful! I am almost 30 weeks pregnant and my baby shower is coming up, I also spent wayyyy too much time researching my registry and what I want for my baby. I also have a non-toxic and more minimal desire so this was perfect timing and actually helped me decide or choose against a few things! Motherhood looks amazing on you! I can’t wait to get to experience it too!

Mollie, I just want to say how much I LOVE your channel and your sweet personality! I just discovered your videos and I am so glad I did. I have an almost one-year-old, have PCOS, adrenal fatigue, and have been trying to figure out lifestyle changes to help with all of the above and every single video I've watched so far has had something helpful or educational for me. Love your baby related content too and I will definitely be following along as your little one gets older! Blessings. 🤍

I just had my first baby a month ago, and because my husband live in a tiny apartment in Europe, we knew right from the start that we would keep baby items to a minimum, and honestly I haven’t “needed” all those excessive baby items… totally agree with what you said in this video! 🙌🏼
@MollieMasonАй бұрын
Oh my gosh you're amazing. I actually thought about that a lot when building our registry - "if we were living in our tiny apartment in Italy, what would we need?!" It's a good perspective for us as Americans to remember we don't need as much as we are marketed!! And CONGRATS on your first baby!! Hope it's been a beautiful postpartum despite the hard, sleepless nights - What have been your own essentials so far??

I am a nanny with 17 years of experience, I have taken care of more babies that I can count 😵💫and now I am pregnant for the first time 😍 . I agree with your assessment almost 99%. The only item I do think moms should have is the baby monitor. Do NOT leave your baby unattended for long periods of time while awake, before you know it they are rolling, grabbing something, etc. 🤦🏻♀️ Now, I was always an over protective nanny so please take my advice with that in consideration. About the monitor, it doesn’t have to be a super modern one (it will drive you crazy) BUT if your baby is having a hard time sleeping the monitor is a good thing to make sure they are ok as you are sleep training. I agree to not keep watching it non stop for no reason, actually when they are sleeping you should be napping too if possible! I always appreciated the families that allowed me to nap while the baby napped because taking care of babies is a LOT of work and I would wake up fresh and with energy to do the things the baby needed (washing bottles, take them for walks, read them a million books, sing with them, etc). That said I agree in trusting your instincts as a mom, YOU KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOUR BABY. And if you hire a nanny she needs to trust your instincts too ❤

Just a thought too, as a pregnant lady in the babywearing BST groups, the Artipops have good resale value. If you really don't like it you could sell it and get another Mabe!
@MrsHolt-uy9wjАй бұрын
I agree with most of what you’ve said! Things changed a bit for me once we had more than one kiddo (we have three now). It gets to be A LOT when you try and have more than one kiddo only rely on you lol. We have a sound only baby monitor (idk if it’s less EMF or not), and it gives me the freedom to go outside with my other kiddos and not worry about stranding the baby if he wakes up sooner than expected. And swaddle wraps were a life saver in those early weeks! Another essential for us is a pack and play; we can keep the baby in a safe, contained space in the main living room whenever I have to keep him away from a mess the big kids made. And to all the mommas who are expecting for the first time I 100% agree with Mollie: trust your momma gut, be flexible to adapt to your baby’s unique needs, and give yourself freedom to figure things out as they come. You’ve got this! Think of all the mommas in history who made it with far less, and yet the human race persists lol

@@MollieMason it helps so much to have someone who is in the thick of it with you. 💖 We are cloth diapering and the system we used is Esembly. They are an upfront investment but it’s been awesome. (Totally get it if cloth diapering isn’t for you, just wanted to share if someone is looking for opinions.) I also loved the boba bliss hybrid wrap as a faster option than my Solly wrap and it actually has been my favorite carrier. In another video you showed that you used the Equip beef protein and I got some, oh my word, it is sooo good! I used the coffee flavor and add milk. An easy quick meal with 30 grams of protein. 🙏🏻 Many blessings to you and your sweet family!

what milk bags do you use?
@MollieMasonАй бұрын
Ok I feel like milk storage is a wholeee other rabbit hole I could've rambled on about but I stopped myself since I feel like I already covered so much 🤪 I've gotten a few different brands but I prefer the Dr. Brown's ones. I naively bought glass storage jars thinking I could avoid plastic entirely but that was silly of me 😆 So I use my mason jars + storage lids (the ones I shared in my soup video!) to pool my fresh milk in the fridge, then after it's cooled (usually I go the 4 days) I transfer it into the Dr. Brown's bags to freeze. Then when we're ready to use, we NEVER heat the milk inside the bag - I always thaw it in the fridge or on the counter until I can pour it into the glass bottle and then we put that inside another mason jar with hot water to heat it. lol more detail than you asked for but I was wondering these things as a first time mama so maybe someone needs to see it!
