You said gi hun hasn’t killed anybody, that’s because he survived through luck and the tough actions made by sangwoo. For example, had sangwoo not pushed the dude, time would have ran out and gi gun would not survive. Or sangwoos idea on the bridge or Ali saving his fall during the lights game or saebyeok letting him which bridge tile or the man switching his no 1 spot for 16…Or unlike Sangwoo, gi hun had a partner that willingly sacrificed his life for him (we even saw how gi hun was willing to trick him to live as well). Sangwoo killing saebyok made sense because she was going to die regardless from the injury, and letting gi hun and her vote to end the games before would have made everything been for not. Not saying he’s an honorable or good man, but sangwoo did what he had to do to survive at the end of the day. Gi hun would have been died if this were real life

People give Gi-Hun way too much credit in the games. He got this far due to the sacrifice, knowledge and strength of the other players, which is exactly the way he got through his real life - through the sacrifice, knowledge and strength of his mother. We saw during the marble games that he’s just as willing to use dirty tricks to survive as Sang Woo is. Gi-Hun was just lucky.

I don't understand Sangwoo defenders too. I mean, he wants to eliminate other players, ok yeah sure. But i think that scene just shows how far sangwoo as a person has turned in terms of morality, how killing has become so easy and common in that place, he looks almost shocked himself that he did that - killing someone just opportunistically; bc tbh, he didn't NEED to. She would've died by herself, she was already dying. But the "genius and pride of Ssamsudong" had to kill someone who was already weak, just bc he had the opportunity to.

I believe he states the reason he killed her in the next episode. Basically he was preventing a vote to end the game from being called which would have passed 2-1. If it had passed that would have made all the vile acts Sangwoo committed be in vain since he would leave with nothing.

The reason Sang-Woo has defenders is there are a LOT of people in this world just like him - people without empathy, compassion or strong moral compasses and more or less psychopathic personalities who only value winning at any cost. All they see is a person who did everything he could to get ahead regardless of whoever he had to screw over and however badly, which to them is purely commendable because they don't factor in any other variables into the equation besides what it takes to win.

i mean it’s understandable if sangwoo takes advantage of how they set up the game… if you think about it, they’re not really fighting for the money. it’s life and death in there. only one makes it. gihun is very honorable and kind in a way because of his virtue. but you can’t say sangwoo is evil if he’s just fighting for his life. they deliberately left them with a knife, they’re expected to attack, he just took advantage of it.

saebyeok’s death had me sitting frozen on the edge of the bed for like 15 minutes. this show is a series of “they just didn’t have to do that” events. ugh.

She has a younger brother to care for and a mother still trapped in a North Korean prison. With no support, she turned to petty theft to survive. Sang-woo, on the other hand, was burdened by the concept of “saving face,” a crucial part of Asian culture. He made questionable decisions to appear successful, not only for his mother but for his entire neighborhood. He was seen as the pride of the community, a symbol of someone who had risen from poverty. The pressure drove him to desperation, willing to do anything to survive, even if it meant betraying Gi-hun, his childhood friend. Not all VIPs are NPC-I’ll leave it at that. If you want more Korean drama, I highly recommend Kingdom, a gripping zombie series set in ancient Korea; My Name, a crime thriller that will keep you guessing; and Train to Busan, featuring Gong Yoo, the mysterious subway recruiter from Squid Game.

Maybe try to watch it from Midway of Ep2. I mean there's a reason it is so damn popular, isn't it? I'd suggest give it one more try before forming a solid opinion.
