The thing is, Sae-Byeok should not remove the glass from her stomach. When you have something punctured in your stomach/ intestines, you never ever take it out! That's why her condition deteriorated so much, so fast, because when she removed the object, she caused hemorrhage and the spillage of the stomach contents- a ton of bacterias, to put it briefly. In such a situation, paradoxically, it is better to leave the object where it is. (And go to the hospital asap but this was not an option, ofcs 💀)

He got this far due to the sacrifice, knowledge and strength of the other players, which is exactly the way he got through his real life - through the sacrifice, knowledge and strength of his mother. We saw during the marble games that he’s just as willing to use dirty tricks to survive as Sang Woo is. Gi-Hun was just lucky.

The show is a critique of capitalism, the game forces you to change and become evil to survive. The difference is that Gi-Hun maintained his humanity in the end despite the evil things he had to do to survive. The luck aspect is also the point of the show, in order to succeed you have to get lucky, every character that made it far in the games got lucky in some way.

Im okay with the sangwoo slander but will never get the gihun praise. Gihun was willing to be as dirty as sangwoo but was never blunt about it and got lucky because people sacrificed for him, whether its the grandpa at the marble games or sangwoo pushing the man in the glass games or ali saving him in the first game. He was weak and a coward and couldn't face himself for the cheater he was in the 6th game yet wanted to face sangwoo at the beg of this episode. Sangwoo was just as desperate for money as willing to off himself (2nd ep) and tried everything to win, gihun trying to claim morality and noblness is so ironic to me because nothing about these games represents that, nor does he. Hes your typical male lead that has no character depth but people root on for being the "nice guy" and we are tired of that narrative and i hate how season 2 will be about him trying to "save people" AGAIN. I was hoping to see more backstory in season 2 or maybe a season that talks about the workers in red instead...

For example, had sangwoo not pushed the dude, time would have ran out and gi gun would not survive. Or sangwoos idea on the bridge or Ali saving his fall during the lights game or saebyeok letting him which bridge tile or the man switching his no 1 spot for 16…Or unlike Sangwoo, gi hun had a partner that willingly sacrificed his life for him (we even saw how gi hun was willing to trick him to live as well). Sangwoo killing saebyok made sense because she was going to die regardless from the injury, and letting gi hun and her vote to end the games before would have made everything been for not. Not saying he’s an honorable or good man, but sangwoo did what he had to do to survive at the end of the day. Gi hun would have been died if this were real life

I read from a commenter that the writer/director said in an interview when told about the backlash against the scenes with the VIPs that he intentionally gave them cringe lines to get back at how Asians were often given cringe stereotypical roles in western media. 🤷 I get why a lot of people find Sangwoo despicable. Really, I do and their reasons are valid. He did awful things even before he joined the game. He surely ruined people's lives with the bad investments and fraud he committed. But with how he played the game, i find him most relatable, except maybe during the honeycomb candy game-like why are you trying to get rid of allies so early? In any case, all these players know what they signed up for-it's win or die. Sangwoo was ready to die since he was about to commit self-exiting when they were sent back home in Ep2. But when he got the chance to resume playing, he made up his mind to win no matter what and it was all for his mum, so she wouldn't lose her home and livelihood and be thrown to the streets, shamed by a criminal son. I'd do anything for my mum too. Winning to help my mum vs people i only met in the game who have willingly participated in a game of death? the choice is easy.

About sangwoo I'm not saying that there isn't some understanding behind his actions but it wasnt a decision he "had" to make. When he pushed that guy through the glass it had near nothing to do with the the remaining time, we saw before plenty of people jumped in front of others. He pushed the guy based off selfishness since there was only one set of panels left. That being said I know people are gonna defend/side with him but my point is just that it wasn't an inadvertent kill, it was a kill.

Front Man took the shot so easy because he was once a cop too, just like his brother. It make sense why he's that extremely focused, meticulous, and shows quick logical thinking all along... A partial reason as to why the VIP dialogue and acting felt cringey is that it's foreign actors performing in a Korean drama. There's a language and cultural barrier, so the directors can't fully understand or hear what we, as english-speaking viewers, experience. It's similar to how if a Korean actor were speaking Korean in an American series, only other Koreans would really be able to assess the quality of their performance the same way.

The VIP's were cringe to us but also don't forget that this wasn't made really with a western audience in mind. They were representations of capitalist business moguls from the west, to us it's cheesy because we see the stereotypes much more clearly than maybe a South Korean viewer would do. This episode, and the end of the last one, just about ruin the series for me. The glass bridge exploding and effectively killing her (though I realize SangWoo delivered the final blow) is asinine and steps on the toes of this organization and the games themselves. Why in the holy hell would they have the glass bridge explode, putting those who followed the rules and won the game in danger? Two reasons: 1. It made for a cool shot, and 2. They wanted a way to kill off Sae-Byeok. For those who say the glass explodes once the timer is up for those still on the glass: I do see the point in that, but there must have been a better way to achieve that without putting the winner's in danger. That would be like them spamming grenades into the Red Light Green Light room once the timer ended. Yes, it would have probably killed those who didn't cross the goal-line in time, but they risk the chance of shrapnel flying off and injuring those who followed the rules and won the game, it's nonsensible.

They blew it up for the reason they shot everyone who didn't make it past the line in Red Light Green Light. if you were still on the bridge when the time was up you lost the game. They didn't use grenade but they still killed everyone left.
