Thata just acting . When allison talks to the performer, Penn amd Teller tell the producers how they think the trick was done. The producers let them know if they guessed correctly or not. If they are right, they decide how to communicate it in an entertaining way

@@briansam2524 Rest assured, they dont allow novice or amateur skilled magicians to even pass the first level of the show auditions.. Making it on the show, ahs %100 meant youve made a name for yourself in the art of show magic and they/the magic community wants to see your stuff on stage. Not fooling pen and teller isnt a slight in any means. All it means is you're apart of their club and they're jiving with what you do. Thats also why they dont explain tricks. Thy understand the magician is skilled and the AUDIENCE(potential artist fans) wont understand the trick because its well executed. It would be like a Jurassic Park/Marvel CGI artists saying they see the CGI in a very well executed piece of film.

i love that she said “a lot of these games are designed so the house always wins,” because it’s not mathematically accurate to say they all are. there are a couple of video poker variants with paytables that have a greater than 100% return to the player, provided it’s played at a high enough denomination, for a sufficiently long time, with perfect decision making. anyway, great performance! i’m glad you got on the show

Very impressive reveal at the end! Also having naked arms (I mean w/o sleeves) and showing both your palms simultaneously from time to time, excludes palming of the 3 different cards (because that would be a way to put a different card on top of the selected card when revealing it). There were couple of moments where Tori passes in-front of the cards and in theory could have snuck a card at that time, but looking careful before & after it doesn't seem to have done anything weird. Penn's choice with the top card also puts it above Tori's head, so obviously there's no trickery done when she's passing in-front (I didn't see her jump :)). Very cleanly performed, which keeps the mystery for muggles like me :)

I’m sure penn knows, but like he said he cheated. I’m sure he had a idea but he was just about confused about it too. So he didn’t ask for the prop, he took it. So now the big question: did they figure it out during the close up? No….. did they have a idea how it was done? Yes, after close examination of the prop I’m sure they found it, but it wasn’t anything that they expected. So, yes penn did cheat, to find out how the trick was done, because he really didn’t know.

@@MsNoPixel the double back statement was in regards to the card force she used. she put the 4 of hearts face up right under a double backed card at the top of the deck, so when she flipped half the deck over it appeared to be the card penn chose, its a classic card force so i doubt that’s where she intended to fool them. i wont give away the rest of the trick because its certainly less common, but if you google some of the terms penn used you might be able to figure it out. incredible and very original trick regardless, its one that i find very entertaining even though i know how its done. it takes classic magic principles and uses them in a novel and genuinely interesting way which is a talent in and of itself

Out of all the magicians who have like other career/education pursuits outside magic, mathematician has got to be the most common one I’ve seen. Maybe one could give me the stats on that? 😅 Very interesting to see the cross over! I definitely think it has a lot to do with how both of those groups minds “work.” Especially with her because she mentioned how much of her work is theoretical and creative🙂

Every magician is happy to present himself as a mathematician, scientist, etc. Promo is part of modern magic and is preparing the atmosphere for the next trick (suggestion of non-existent principle, averted attention, etc.). However, the fact is completely different about the profession. Never, or almost never is related to a trick. Specific professions only provides more free time ...

If you look, right when she first fans the deck - "Penn tell me when to stop" - you can see a bit of a sheen on the top card, like there's a piece of scotch tape upon it. That's the four of hearts for the force. For the swap, notice how her hand comes up *under* the selected cards. I thought she was using that to drop the four into her hand, but then both her hands are visible afterwards. So she's probably flipping the card underneath the back with that.. Excellently done!

You're on the right track about the top card, but that's not the four of hearts. The four of hearts is just beneath it. Penn makes a comment about going down one road that explains that part of the trick

Of course, 4H was a forced card (otherwise the trick wouldn't work), but you have to evaluate positively that it did it very smoothly and naturally. :)

Yeah I thought the force was fairly obvious. It's not a natural looking way of taking a card from the deck but the rest of the trick was really good and I haven't figured out how she did it. Might have been better to just follow the plot line of finding the "ace of spades" rather than a forced card.

Philosophical thought. I do not know who and when invented the deck of cards, but he certainly did not imagine how many tricks magicians would do with his invention. He did not know how many games they would invent with cards. Remy, poker, bridge ... SPOILER ALERT!! if you don't want to know how (I believe) she did this trick stop reading this text.... 1.- The card was force, that happens when Tori turns the top half of the deck over the "selected" card, there she is switching whichever card Penn really selected by the card she wanted him to choose. 2.- The cards that are placed on the "glass" board have a special treatment or ink and the "glass" is actually polarized or something like that, so when the faces of the cards are placed against the glass, you will always see a 4 of hearts but when you actually peal the card and look it without the glass in the middle, it will show a different face, so basically you have a full "normal" deck which when seen through that "glass" it looks as if it was all 4 of hearts, but the back of the cards is not treated and so you see it through the glass. That way you just can peek any number of cards and reverse them and the chance of getting an actual 4 of hearts is minimal (you could even make sure there is no 4 of hearts at all but you are taking the risk of having to show a duplicate card), then, whenever you are ready (the cards pealead are sticked back reversed) you can reverse the panel and all the other cards will show up as 4 of hearts. it could be done with 52 lcd ultra flat screens but I think it would be just too expensive.

She is able to quickly and easily change their suit from a 4 of hearts to whatever suit is on the other flap. That is why Penn says that she's 'unflappable'. She also uses a double back card as part of her force. I'd need to look again to see exactly what she did on the force but that is why Penn mentions that they 'doubled back' while thinking about how she did her trick.

@@kenanderson3954 keep in mind that it looks like you can "see" the background through the glass when she peals the selected card, so, if the 4 of hearts was already sticked to the other side of the glass, it must have some special back face to look like the background, and even if it was that way, how would she be able to preselect the exact three cards to put a regular back instead of a 4 of hearts. You can clearly see the back of the cards she pealed and you can see they have a regular back, so the only way I can think of making this trick work every single time is that the glass is actually some kind of polarizing filter and the faces of the cards are specially printed to look like a regular back to the naked eye but as a 4 of hearts through that glass...

@@manusoftar Do you know what flap cards are? I feel like there is a disconnect there. She is actually removing the card from the glass/plastic panel. This one card can be manipulated so that upon reveal it will be either a 4 of hearts or another card from the deck. They can even be made so that they can be changed between 3 cards, while still only looking like a single card. Seriously, just look into Hondo Chen flap cards. They're incredible to the point where they actually look like magic.
