@10:56 Simular thing in past season of rds. Stagea with fuly stock vq25DET with turbo - 450ph. Working range 5000-8500 (until 5k vacum in intake). Lock kit self hacked from scrap. Not a single gage on dash (not even dash itself) And he even was second at pre season competition and won some batles. Best equipment is ones skill.

Went to a D1 Central event at Mobara when I visited Japan in 2017. Sure it's not the top level but it's a brilliant fun, and you're more likely to find one lining up with travel to Japan
