Would be even cooler (no pun intended) if they used a ceramic layer on the inside triangle or behind the fins, so the glass could be stored in low temperatures and the ceramic would hold onto the cold, chilling the drink as it's poured without using ice. It also wouldn't dilute the drink

I would this compare with the Glencairn glass, which is used at 1:05 of this video. The Glencairn glass is remarkable, but I'm really anticipating the Norlan glass. Now, the Glencairn glass is more of a glass to APPRECIATE the whiskey. The Norlan glass seems like it is well made for appreciating but also good for socializing. Personally, I don't socialize much, but Norlan, I believe, has made a great product, though I don't own one yet but it's on pre-order.

Received my Norlan glasses about a week ago. Very nice packaging and beautiful glass (adding 2 - 3 oz of bourbon makes it even more beautiful). I really like the size, great volume and top diameter fits my nose just right for nosing. But as I first held the glass, my first thought was "Is this plastic?" - had to thump it with my finger to confirm that it is actually glass. The weight and balance of the glass seems off to me - it needs to be slightly heavier and the weight should be in the bottom. It is a nice conversation piece with my whiskey friends, but it is not my favorite glass (my favorite is a glass of approximately the same size, but with a single shell and more pronounced tulip shape). On the next version of the Norlan glass I would also suggest a slight change in the contour of the outer shell - it needs to be a bit more tulip-shaped so that the bottom lip fits better under the lip. The Norlan glass improves the nosing experience, but does not change the tasting experience.

"a scientifically performing inside" ... My GF asked me this morning from inside the bedroom. - What are you doing honey? - I am performing scientifically, I answered from the kitchen. - Could you be performing scientifically in the way that the coffee will soon be ready? She pressed - Well, the kettle is performing scientifically, but then again so were the coffee beans to begin with, just sitting there in their bag under the general onslaught of entropy ... - Never mind, she mumbled, apparently going back to sleep. I banged my toe on the doorstep going back, balancing two full cups of scientifically performing coffee and spilling it on my bare feet, leaving blisters on top of having my toe-nail kinetically cracked. I sighed deeply feeling the air circulate scientifically in my lungs so that I could continue living. All in all a pretty damn sciency morning.

Whisky experience its what they should have said. Anyway they did spot the eye contact breaking point and tried to fix it, also for who has big hands it comes handy to prevent the body heating be transfered to the liquid due to the double glass thing. Not the most beautiful glass for me, but thats subjective and by far the lowest major point for whisky enthusiasts enjoy theire gold juice.
@jesusmetal921076 жыл бұрын
The folks saying that this is just a glass have no idea how smell affects flavor. Nor do they understand the ritual that goes into enjoying a fine spirit. Whiskey that is meant to be enjoyed should come with a fun, delightful way to experience it. I could throw back shots of Jefferson Groth or Michters 20 year but I would be losing all the complexity that is brought with it. Thats why I use a snifter, and would likely use this since it is a bit more casual and less pretentious looking for when i am having guests.

Im pretty convinced 99 percent of people would not be able to blindly identify any actual real difference or benefit from using this glass vs a normal glass. Im and sure any normal person wouldn't notice anything either other than maybe a placebo effect. Thats not to say, in theory what they describe may be true...to some extent atleast, I just cant see it having anywhere a big enough impact to actually make much difference to the overall experience. however...its still quite an interesting idea and a cool looking glass.

I have a question about something I am kind of failing to understand...im not sure if its a gimmick or what but what exactly is the 'outer glass' thing actually doing ? is it just me or would it just have no impact at all on how the whiskey leaves/pours from the glass? other than visuals for the most part? surely the shape of the inner glass (the only thing that is actually having an effect on the whiskey) is what determines how you drink it...or how far you have to lean back or whatever the video was suggesting. And that's it...what does the outer-shape change....it doesn't impact the whiskey or the glass inside or make it any easier to drink because the shape of the inner glass is that shape no matter what Other than maybe giving a wider...more hand filling size to the glass in your hand...while keeping a more narrow neck for the whiskey glass inside, but that doesn't change anything about what they was saying about eye contact etc. So im confused.

Hi Keith, The outer wall of the glass is purely an aesthetic design choice. We wanted a highly functional inside, married with a modern beautiful outside.

I will stick with the classic Glencairn glass or Sipping Snifter glass. This Norlan glass is nothing but a poor knock off of a Glencairn surrounded by another glass. The outside of this Norlan glass is nothing but cosmetic, it has nothing to do with the inside glass. I would not buy this glass nor would I use it if given to me.
@aarondesch7 жыл бұрын
Look again. These glasses have four bumps inside the internal glass, while they seem like a trivial difference, they serve a purpose. when you swirl a dram in the glass the bumps work as an agitator and aerates the whiskey. as a result your whisky is now noses and tastes as if you had let it breathe in a Glencairn for 10-15 minuets. after that, yes the overall shape of the glass does resemble the Glencairn because that's how any nosing glass should be shaped.
@keithpetersen5607 жыл бұрын
Aarondesch, I did notice the 4 bumps inside the glass. As they may agitate the whisky more, the Glencairn has served its purpose for many years. The lip of the glass looks to thick and I personally don't like the shape of the outside glass.
@URN-A555 жыл бұрын
aarondesch you said it right, this glass is a copy version of the glencairn glass as it should be. It’s a knock off of the glencairn glass, so why should I pay good money to buy it when I already own the real glencairn glass.
